It's basically a very elaborate A Wizard Did It joke. 0 Original Stories/Prose 2/21/12 9:07am

I'm not really experienced with first person and my prose feels so... lifeless. Hoping for any good tips? Journal found in a cave in sector #06 on the moon Herpeto by two Naga, who were unable to read it. They, two mature females, however recognized the writing as human language, and gave it to Brant Vieweg, a merchant and part-time missionary involved in helping civilize the Naga people of t ...

Feeling frustrated dealing with a character 11 Writers 2/17/12 3:59am

He might appear in the main story, but he would definitely not be a main character. His wish is that he desires for humans to be able to warp reality to a degree (aka: magic), he has good intentions but giving everybody on earth the ability to shoot fireballs out of their hands, among other things, does not end well. He's supposed to be a manchild of sorts, and even though he's in his older ...

He's not a character, or at least not a main one, in the main story. In fact he's supposed to be long dead by the time the main story comes around.

Basically I'm writing a short story that's a prequel of my main work, and I have a hard time really getting into the main character. Basically he ends up meeting an eldritch god that grants him a wish, and said wish ends up dooming most of humanity. However, while I have no problem figuring out a way to make the eldritch god an interesting character, I don't really know what to do with my main cha ...

Motivating Characters 18 Writers 2/11/12 3:48am

Depends on the character. Some of mine are internally motivated, some of them are motivated by other people, and some don't really give a ********.

Speak of the devil. xD Two posts about yours. It was just a little experiment, nothing serious. It was fun. :D I need an editing buddy. -o-

Yeah, It's a character from a larger story. Basically what It does is give humans the ability to warp reality to a degree (aka: magic) and the resulting chaos and anarchy wipes out 95% of them. because It was bored. ... yeah.

Well, this is basically the practice/experiment I wrote; Awake, in the deep, thick ocean. I feel the ocean and the lack of it. The ocean is empty, it did not used to be empty, it will not always be empty. One day it will be teeming with carbon protein life, but not right now. One day it will not be an ocean, but a mountain range dipped in snow. Not today however, not for a while. It is dar ...

Oh okay, I figured you just meant specifically what was going in other character's heads. Nah, my god is a character with an active role in the story. Like a pretty active role. Although It's more of an eldritch abomination god that considers all of life like a toy, and the story is It "playing" with it.

It would be like omniscient 3rd, and first person at the same time. Also the character would also know what was going to happen in the future, and what is going in places where s/he isn't located. It doesn't have to be a be all omnipotent god, just an omniscient one. The god in my story is omniscient and almost omnipotent, but It is not omnipresent. Think of a fantasy thing instead of ...

Anyone ever tried writing from the point of view of an omniscient god? I tried my hand at this the other day and it was actually kind of fun.

what do you mean by action star? Like he stars in hollywood action movies? I wouldn't fret story ideas. There is no such thing as original stories, everything has been done before. It's all about making good and original characters that people can remember and relate to.
