An argument supporting child labour? (I dare you) 117 Extended Discussion 9/20/10 2:09pm

Or, a child can work at the same job for....years, thus using the same skills repeatedly and improving on them. :stare: obviously a week is a bit much and one would assume you did not care about your job anymore. i was thinking however of making rules specifically made for children to give them a bit more leeway than adults but with age the program starts to gradually tighten the rules. Th ...

Not to mention, some jobs will give you perks such as no or low cost bus passes, if doing so increases the chance of a reliable work force. My job, for one, gives all full time employees an everywhere but the ferries public transport pass.

...like by starting an apprenticeship leading into a job? Cause that will teach gradual responsibility. i do think they need room for mistakes they shouldn't lose their "job" immediately. No time like the present to learn that your actions have consequences (Don't want to go to work for a week so you can sit around and play games? No job. Do a very good job? Get a raise.) I don't be ...

It's never too early to learn money skills. Children want and can earn things, and perhaps if more children knew and valued the cost of things, they wouldn't abuse them under the idea that "Mommy and Daddy can get me another one, who cares, it's just some money." Kids belong in school learning and on the playground playing and having a childhood. Children can learn skills outside of a c ...

Then you are neither pro-life nor pro-choice. You are pro-punishment, as you believe in using pregnancy and childbirth to teach women a "lesson" about sex. Which is bullshit. It's none of your business who and who does not have sex, how they have sex, when they have sex, who they have sex with, the number of times they have sex, or what they do when the sex goes the way they don't want it to a ...

1) I have been known to use other people's words when they say what I feel gets my point across, in the same way I use other people's labors instead of, say, drafting my own shoe patterns and sewing my own shoes. The quote, I feel adequately sums up my opinion without me having to say "The last thing society needs is more children that aren't wanted and/or loved by their parents." 2) Many ...

There is generally a grey line of self defense, which we use laws and courts for. Rape, however, is something that in our society tends to put the onus of proof on the victim, and shame him or her out of reporting it happening. Pregnancy should always be a willing continuation of life. Why? Society does not need more children; but it does need more loved children. Quite literall ...

And I will restate the same argument. Until someone can start pointing me out some biological differences between a fetus conceived via consensual sex and those conceived via non consensual sex, my conclusion is that rape victims are given a "get out of damnation free" card. Firstly, there should be no exceptions that you cannot perfectly enforce, and you cannot perfectly enforce rape. ...

High school classes and opinion based learning =/= actual medical science, social discussion and reality. I'm pretty sure that your opinions are not a fact.

Failure of science. All things that prelude conception are alive, and a fetus is in fact alive before birth. "Non alive" fetuses are either expelled via spontaneous abortion or removed with induced abortions if still possible. I'm not about to let fail!science stand on either side.

Myth No. 2: Women use abortion as a method of birth control. I hear this one so frequently and yet in decades of providing abortion services to more than 30,000 women, I met only two women who used abortion as a birth control method. And they were absolutely right to do so. These two women experienced blood clots while on birth control pills, ectopic pregnancies with the IUD, and they were ...

Nine months can be just long enough to end someone's career, education, research, etc. In science, technology, or other high-speed careers? Yes, nine months is long enough to put a woman far enough behind to not catch up. You wrongly assume that everyone has infinite resources to pick up where they left off, and that every career path or life path can or will pause for the time it takes for pr ...

You're about 37 and some more years later for that. The way I see it, it is mass murder. Only if you're pregnant with twins. Just because someone can't breath yet because the lungs aren't fully formed, doesn't mean he/she isn't alive. Yes, alive. But not independent. This unborn baby has an entire life ahead of him/her and I see abortion as someone ending that life premature ...
