yet it often holds true that the original version of a given story is better than any adaptions it gets into other forms of media, and that does hold true with Wolf's Rain. if you skip out on the anime (which started about half a year before the first chapter of the manga came out) you're missing out on a far richer and more detailed story. not to mention when the manga goes off on its own storyli ...

the manga was started after the anime started and ended before the anime ended, so the second half of the manga adaption is very different from the end of the anime.

I'd be curious as to why they're watching Japanese subs if they know Japanese well enough to judge how well the Japanese voices are expressing emotion... I'd assume they'd be fluent enough they'd be watching the raws if they knew the language that well.

to be fair the anime did adapt almost everything out at the time and was made to air in Japan while the manga was on hiatus (the mangaka needed time off to have wrist surgery and recover from it). it's also likely that if that hiatus never happened they wouldn't have done an anime adaption at all.

I'm a fan, but it's been years since I last read it. I really need to reread it again sometimes, get past where the local library leaves off (since they don't do InterLibrary Loans anymore due to lack of funding, damnit, and I originally read it by borrowing it from my older brother, who lost most of his copies years ago and lives several hours away anyways).

AnimeNewsNetwork.com had the first few episodes last time I looked there, but there's no site I know of legally streaming all of the eps free of charge (I think Hulu had it at one point, but not anymore). that means you're on your own if you want to find it, as Gaia has rules against giving out or requesting the location of illegally offered copyrighted materials.
