Actually, there ARE prayer books written in Yiddish. Mostly those were written for women's prayers, which differ slightly from men's prayers, because women typically did not spend half (or more) of their day studying Hebrew in synagogue. Accordingly, the prayers were written in the mamaloshen (mother-tongue), the language the women knew, Yiddish, rather than the language of scholarly study. ...
