Dune was an amazing sci-fi novel probally the best I've read so far. Legends of Dune (Series of 3 Books) by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson comes close as well as Battlefield Earth by L. Yeah I've read the ones he has let out so far and they are pretty long but also very well written. I agree with you that he is taking a while with the new one lol but I think it's because he has been working on the tv series of his book that is supposed to air on HBO.
