I guess it's personal preference, but as a snake owner, I really disapprove of this. I didn't know this was so common in other areas. It does happen a lot where I live, though, and I feel like it gives snake owners a bad name. Generally, the people giving these animals away are giving them away as pets. Not to be fed to a snake. I buy my feeders as feeders. That's what they're intended ...

It's true! Most snake bites really aren't as painful as people tend to think. I've been bitten by ball pythons, and it always looks much worse than it actually is. I'm much more afraid of getting bitten by feeders than by the snakes. xD

Yeah, I live in Florida. Because of irresponsible owners and snakes escaping because of hurricanes, we actually have a burmese python population in the everglades. There was an incident a while back of one of the pythons attempting to eat an alligator - xD; both died.

Haven't signed onto Gaia in ages, and this is one of the first threads I see when I do. Nice! My fiance and I are planning to start breeding our ball pythons.
