I had the series foisted upon me and I am absolutely addicted to this adorable Loki.
I echo your sentiments on the Wonder Woman gods, though my list of complaints usually starts with, "Why is Ares their nemesis?" and "What's up with all this Aphrodite bullshit?"

Well, there's two ways to go about this.
This first: many MA comics don't have all that much nudity and violence. A judgment call is made on the themes of the book generally. Most books drawn by Jim Lee (including Batman: Hush and the current JLA) tend to be far more violent and sexualized, even though there's little actual nudity than Fables or BPRD. Sure, a book like 100 Bullets has a LOT ...

Well this is exciting. How much did digital comic sales make last year? Well, three times as much as the previous year, or $25 million.
This is difficult to judge as a number. Tail end sales are inflated because of the DC relaunch, but I'll bet sales were increasing anyway (if less dramatically). The iPad, Kindle and other devices are probably the thing the industry needed to start tipping ...

Emphasis mine.
Well, he did everything in his power to do everything on the book, certainly.
His complaint was Scott did his job for him. None of what Scott has said contradicts this.
Plus, WOW that is a long rant.

Here's the piece in its entirety. If you have...45 minutes? An hour maybe? It's long. It's painful to read in many places. It's also over 15,000 words.

McDaniel tries to clean it up, but Rozum's account and his correlate pretty well.
Unfortunately, In Scott's attempt to "set the record straight" he does not come off well. It's mostly painful to read.

Oh! There's another thing I should bring up too. Most web artists don't make money from their comics, or at least, not a lot. They love doing comics and put them up on the web because it ends up being a great promotion. They'll get hired to do illustration jobs for big famous magazines (where the money is), design work for animation or film companies (where the money is), album covers (some mo ...

Image tends to get away with a higher page count for the same or less money, largely because there's so much less overhead. When a creative team works with Image, they're doing almost everything themselves. They have access to an editor, but the do the lettering themselves (whoops, forgot to include the letter in that last post), most of the artwork is taken care of by one person, they'll do a ...

30 pages? Where are you getting your comics from, Image? The standard content page count at Marvel and DC (and their subsidiaries) is 20. Sometimes you'll get extra pages in a backup story. Those other 12 pages are all ads.
Hard-line stubbornness and sheer, pants-wetting terror.
Well... Printing isn't the only thing to factor into pricing. You have to pay the cost of the creative te ...

Look on these pages, fandom, and despair.
I don't want to use "good" in the subjective sense, but in a practical sense (because while I like Travel Foreman's Animal Man, I can pick it apart technically pretty easily). The art in those books accomplishes all the goals you want in a good comic book artist:
- It assists visually in telling the story by conveying what the writer wanted to sh ...

Well let's break this down a little further. The relaunch was a ploy to attract new readers through a soft-reboot. While not a terrible idea, it had a lot of problems. One of the more notable ones was their idea of attracting new readers, unfamiliar to comics, by creating a more modern, relevant stable of stories.
They did this largely by rehiring people who worked on comics in the 80s an ...

This is more problematic than I think people realize. I don't know anything about Greg Land's X-Men work. I've actually read some of it. But if I pull back in my memory without someone prompting me with hints about what the story was, this is all I recall. Do you know who wrote a lot of those issues? Matt Fraction. I really like Matt Fraction's work. I try comics if he's writing them, e ...

That'll probably be the consensus.
Cooke and Jae Lee do it for me. My only qualm is Cooke isn't drawing the Silk Spectre book as well, especially since it's Sally. Sally was pretty much the only character I could tolerate in the original, and after seeing the Vargas-esque pin-up done for the movie I'm convinced Cooke would be great for it.

I can't keep it up, I'm going to have to sit down and be at least a little serious for this one.
I'm not going to say that people (because it's people, not just those hysterical women) don't complain about the outfits women characters wear in comics is. They do complain. Catwoman's perpetually busted zipper is a good example.
But it's a symptom of a larger problem. The problem isn't sim ...
