I even heard from a DEV ( JK (i think?)) that was the original intent. SO, if that was the original intent it means they could have already started on it.
To be fair, the majority of the comments [ JK ] makes at Dev Meets come more from the domain of "It would be awesome if..." or "We talked about.." than they do from the domain of 'original intent'. So while I'm sure it did cross their minds, and I don't doubt for a second that it would be awesome, I think it's a stretch to consider that part of their intention. If the opportunity presented itself, and the means were available to seize it, I'm sure they would - but I'm very doubtful that they are either apportioning resources for it, or actively seeking opportunities to facilitate such a project. It's a wonderful dream, of course; but a pipe dream, for now. sweatdrop

As others have explained, the proverbial belt of the zOMG! development team is a little tighter than one might like - much tighter, I'm afraid, than what would be necessary to facilitate this kind of change. Judging from the described expectations in this thread, this sort of change would likely involve re-creating the game from scratch, retaining only the premise of zOMG! - it wouldn't be zOMG!, but a next-gen facsimile thereof. Not only do the developers necessary for such a project likely not exist at Gaia to begin with (Gaia's never revealed any intentions of developing for platform games), but the undertaking would be expansive in its own right - making zOMG! as-is took several years, and a complete re-structure of it (as you'd expect it to exist, specifically) would likely take even longer. Now, if there was a significant foreseeable benefit to this sort of investment, it might be worth considering; but the return on such an investment seems almost negligible, as the number of players who would play the new creation who do not play currently would be minimal, indeed. A convenient and exciting notion, I agree; but not one that is likely to see daylight any time in the near future.
What I would argue is more likely would be the possible introduction of a zOMG!-related iOS app (as Gaia has been evidenced to have app developers already), or potentially a zOMG! 'port' to Facebook (perhaps as a 'lite' version) - these are the directions that general Gaia development seems to be heading, and if they were interested in expanding the zOMG! premise in any direction, those seem the directions most likely to be chosen. I suspect it would require a very significant change in Gaia's business direction for them to consider expanding into console gaming (or to expand the zOMG! premise at all, really), and until we see such a change occuring, I wouldn't suggest you hold your breath for any such advancement... sweatdrop
