Welcome to Gaia! ::

Versatile Cutesmasher

So last ATA Me and Gen and Evan asked this question:
why still charge GC for zOMG boosts when zOMG isn't really supported by this pool of resources as work on the game has been halted

Lot's of z!players that were there wanted to know also.
We never got an answer. So this last ATA we asked again.
We posting and reposted. We never got an answer. The Thread locked. The ATA was over.
So I was surprised, when I refresh the page, to see another page pop up(pg. 39) with only one post.

Actually, it's not. Frankly, I am really curious to know how some Gaians think companies work because it seems (and I could be wrong) like there is an assumption that specific funds spent in specific places are only for use in specific areas of the site. For example, people thinking that cash spent on zOMG! items in Nicolae's store will only go for zOMG! related work, enhancements, etc. Companies just don't work like that - people buy things and the company gets money. That money is then divided amongst all costs the company incurs. It's like getting your paycheck - you get the money from working, then you purchase things like food or clothes, pay rent, eat out and be entertained. All these things you do from the same pool of cash. Make sense?

As for the zOMG boosts, can they not still be used in zOMG! to help people enhance the experience they have in-game? Is this not the point of the boosts? Anyway, they are game enhancements that give bonuses to players that buy them and it is why they are still for sale.

Hope this answers your questions!

Did that answer the question that we asked.
Is it the answer we(z!players that was at the ATA) was looking for?

I'm sorry to whom asked, but it was obvious what the answers where....

I find it strange though.
The usage of power-ups greatly expanded with an instance that urged such demands.
Can't they take the slightest hint?
Instances that compels to power-up usage equates to profit.
This small profit can be used to bring back developers to push out another grand project and that in turn will usher more revenue if done with expectations.
Like they take the greatest hype for the next area and make it happen.
That will bring back players, hopefully, and if the trend of using power-ups continue gradually then players will feel accomplished more so, theoretically, than buying a ticket in then having to spend more. If you're going to make people spend real money eventually for pixels why not do it in a way to invoke positive feedback than trying to come off as a greedy corporation?
Of course there comes a point of redundancy at which at that point the developers seek power from the players for input when the developers loose creativity.
Even have some players contribute art to the instance they pay for.
Then you can have difficulty settings for instances or make it possible to go through much as possible without using power-ups.
Then once finance is stabilized, hire more developers for more content and bug fixing.
Ideas???

I don't understand why zomg items don't go to help zomg.

Because if it all went to zOMG! you wouldn't have Gaia and soon a site to host zOMG!.
Think logically now instead of thinking with zOMG! just in mind.
Gaia is a business and what does a business do to survive and thrive?
Money.
A sum of money equates to profit.
Now are you going to spend it all on Gaia?
No.
You need it to keep the features maintained.
Features that pull the most to keep the profit coming.
Likewise if you spend it all on just the features.
You still have a site to maintain to host the profit makers.
It's all about managing your budget.
Likewise in reality.
You have needs and wants.
The former being high in priority for most seemingly.
Without needs you are dead.
Without wants you are left to slave away through the days.

I understand that, however, if there are so many supporters of a certain feature, they should continue to fund that feature or make room in their budget to do so. This is what the people of Gaia want, we're getting things we didn't even ask for nor want.

Apparently Gaia is having finical issues which could only explain their greediness.
But it's that or Gaia is willing to play the high stakes to see the results of gambling with new features every so often.

If they're having financial issues, dabbling with new things would lead to disaster. They should stick to what they know brings in a crowd.

You would think that.
But that would lead to my second offering in my post.
Financially wise, it would be costly.
But it has hopes of repaying itself back with what it's worth.
However, Gaia just tries too hard apparently.
So Gaia is just screwing itself over.
Like their Youtube Channel.
In short:
Gaia is going broke trying to win high in the lottery.

Here's how I see it, work with me on this. People don't buy the powerups with money, but rather Gaiacash. Doesn't matter what method they use, they are sending gaia money for Gaiacash. There's no form saying What do you plan to spend this on? How much do you plan to use for each category? There's no who what when where why how. That would be ridiculous, right?

You're saying, "Hey, I like your site enough to give you money in exchange for this Gaiacash you offer." Buying powerups does not automatically entitle the money to go to zOMG, because hey, you donate to the site and not to the game.

I don't mean stop buying powerups at all. Remember, doing so tells Gaia you're interested enough in the game to use their given currency (Gaiacash) on this game. If enough interest is shown then they take the money donated to the site and allocate it to the game for improvement.

Basically Gaia isn't seeing the interest in the game for any of the money to be worth spending on it.

Edit: Getting free Gaiacash does not make this any less correct. Same principal of earned so the site could make money, not the game itself.

Gaia tells us that the money earned through powerups goes towards the costs required to host a massive game like zOMG! Not sure how far that is true but yeah, that's the official word.

This is, what I feel, is the root of many gaia problems. The new thread mumbo jumbo they had a dev announcement the other day: did we ask/need that? No, they just want us to feel like they are working on something, but we want them to fix whats broken, not create something else they will: let break; not fix if/when we want it fixed; create something new to pacify us.
This isn't the Gaia I joined 5+ years ago. I know these people work hard and orders from above may force some to work on a project that they don't like, but gaia needs to start listening to its people. We need fixes, we need improvements on what we already have so it can work better for us. At least when the cookie idea came out we felt like they were listening. And I have seen some things implemented! It was a good feeling, not like the AtA...those just dont feel like they take enough time for every question/problem. Just the fact that this question has been skipped over proves it.
Gaia is like our parent, and we all know sometimes parents don't listen to kids, and kids dont listen to parents. Gaia says they have reasons for what they do and we don't think they are right/enough. Perhaps if Gaia told us the reason, and let us explore/brainstorm we could come up with something together....compromise like a loving family should.

If Gaia fails to see interest in a game they make it could lead to better improvements on another project.
However, just because Gaia lost interest doesn't always mean the players lost interest too.
And that's the problem, Gaia is either really ignorant to it's players on a shelved game or we are just to demanding and whining like little kids thinking we can get what we want always.
But it doesn't mean simply that Gaia should just give up.
Has it thought about future games that carry improvements?
If they can improve games and see it's making profit then they could revisit past games and have them refunded with a majority of the budget to direct them in the same fashion.
Then again, it's a high stake gamble.
Tell me though, when isn't Gaia trying to go broke playing high in the lottery?

Of course they can see the interest. We're too loud to be ignored. There just isn't enough for them to feel zOMG is worth it.
