Very nice guide! Concise and clear - I really hope those new to zOMG will read this! I use a build pretty much exactly what you recommend, and it works wonderfully. I do have one question though: What do you recommend for constant armor? I'm currently using Pot Lid, but would Rock be better? Or something else, perhaps? I also carry Improb Sphere, if that affects anything. Is there any mathematical data on damage prevented by the various rings that you could share? How about how long each buff lasts for? Because of course, having to re-apply a buff less often means I can R4 my healing and attack rings more often. ;3nod:

I've looked through the other guides, but I don't remember seeing info on mathematical data and buff time duration. If it is posted elsewhere though and I missed it, I apologize! Once again, this is a terrific guide. Thanks so much for making it!
My own ring guide shows precise numerical effects for Armour, and I've got a comparison between Pot Lid and Ghost somewhere in it's pages for those who are really curious.

For deflection rates and things like that though, the guide is a bit short on information because of the difficulty of testing something so uncommon.

Personally, I don't feel like Improb. Sphere quite defends me as well as say Pot Lid, but that's only a matter of about 4 attacks in every 100. I like Rock Armour best of them myself though. It's reliable, if nothing else.
Hmmm, so maybe I'll give Pot Lid + Rock a try then for a bit, and see how I like it. Maybe experiment with different combos until i find one I'm really happy with. 3nodding

And I'll go re-read out your other guide right away then; thanks!

With any luck, the complete deflection/reflection rate will be up in just over a week... I've got a bit of testing still to do though, and little time to do it in and around my big scary C assignment D:

I personally have Meat, Divinity and Rock. It works passingly well.
Yeah, I carry Divinity and Meat as well - they're both fantastic, and never leave my set.

Oh, that'd be wonderful to have that info! But rl comes first, for sure. 3nodding I'll keep checking back so i don't miss the update whenever it does happen~

I'm still not 100% sold on the usefulness of CC myself, but I do know it's nice to reduce battles to 1 v 1.
Why? >.>
'cause I forget to use them outside of boss fights xd
It's really really useful when dealing with NeXuS.

I just kept on spamming Scaredy Cat and Quicksand to keep him occupied and waited for everyone else to get to the switches.
I think it's cool you made another good thread to help new players, i know my ring sets made up pretty much the same way. The sad part is that the people who do carry 6 or 7 attack rings, I don't think they look in the forum in the first place.

This thread is fairly useful to thos ewithout common sense ^^. I used to be the type that would actually carry more attacks than buffs in games haha.

It's that warrior spirit that can't be channeled or satisfied in this day and age. Charge in swinging your sword around, ask questions later!
Thanks! This is really helpful! *subscribes*
I think myself as more of an attacker, not a buffer, but still I carry 4 attack rings (Mantis, Hack, Shuriken and GGG), then Scaredy Cat because I'm addicted to it ( twisted ). Next I used to carry Diagnose, but thankfully I righted myself to Bandage before the SS stage. And finally...any buff of my choice, usually it's Rock. Then of course there's the 1st slot defib. (Any suggestions for improvement?)

Anyway, this thread is really useful. I don't think I've seen that many people overloaded with attacks, but this should help anyone who is...and bothers to go on the forums. And of course newbs.

Just had a chance to read through this thread, and I found one thing that bothered me:

You don't say enough to discourage the use of diagnose. Srsly, you need to stress how terrible that ring is.

No Quicksand as a temporary fix passing for AoE Taunt?
Omg, I love this use of Quicksand so much T___T

I'm probably the one person who is actually looking forward to Taunt being fixed Dx

You're not D:
But I'll need to change computer once they do.
I wouldn't survive or appreciate if I froze.
And it wouldn't survive the load.

Excellent math, Valheita, how about a statement on reflection? Like, say, the fact that a single reflection can not only save you your health, but also reflect damage. It's like an efficiency generator.
And, as it's been said, I think we should help people accept the fact that Divinity is a bit of a cookie-cutter ring in zOMG!
Sand fluffs are a bit of an outlier, come to think of it.

Hehe, I'm guilty of that. Tis why I abuse buffs so much, so I can survive while charging blindly on!

I see it a lot when I lurk in areas like Zen Gardens and the like.. Not sure how prevalent it is in the later parts.

I figured a link to my original thread would be enough >.<;; I can't exactly say "If you use Diagnose, enjoy dying a lot".

I might be able to mention something about Deflection vs Reflection in the Buff section..

I've got to update the Attack section a bit too, give people a DPS to aim for. I'd say between 80 and 100 would constitute a reasonable DPS. Especially since Hack/Mantis gives you 90.

Sure you could!! =D Although I think that at least mentioning that you strongly discourage the use of Diagnose would be sufficient >o>

"If you choose Diagnose (a move I strongly discourage in nearly any situation), make sure you're blah blah..."

But I'm just being an anti-Diagnose nazi xD.

Hmm, and as for attack rings go, you could clarify that you should only bring AoE rings if you'll frequently be fighting mobs of 4+ enemies that gather in relatively tight packs. Otherwise, they should be left behind. Same thing with ranged rings - if you're not in a situation that greatly benefits from using a ranged ring, you're better off leaving them behind.

I know you touch on this subject, but I think the problem most inexperienced players deal with is not "forgetting" to bring ranged/AoE rings when they are appropriate, but rather bringing them to situations where they are not effective at all.

Oh, and mention that if they're fighting just a few enemies, they shouldn't use their AoE rings. They're better off saving that stamina for other attack rings.

Hmm. Well, it's really only 3 enemies, as I recall, for even Fire Rain to become as efficient as Mantis. 2, for Dervish.

I'll add something to the OP to the effect of "AoE and Ranged rings have more specialised applications than most rings - Make sure you know when to use them"
