Well, XBox One ( nicknamed "XBone" ), the new XBox, sorta has weird restrictions on what you can do with your games. Short version:
- All games have to be installed on the hard drive (can't access that hard drive if you want to change it btw)
- Your whole collection gets copied on the Cloud, so things get confusing:
- You and up to 10 "family" members can access your whole collection from any XBone (cool, thx Cloud), however gotta check in online once an hour or it stops working.
- That's for when you're using a console other than your own. If you or anyone uses your own console to access your collection, works as expected (no hourly online check) (just remember that the console needs to connect at least once every 24 hours, or it won't be able to play games)
- If you want to give your physical copy to a friend:
Quote:
Give your games to friends: Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends. There are no fees charged as part of these transfers. There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once.
- I'm not too sure on the details (like can me and my 10 "family" members all play my copy of KILL STUFF BLOW SHEET 9000 at the same time from multiple consoles?)
but long story short you can't "simply hand" a friend one of your games for him to play 'cause it's all virtual now, disks just being a convenient way for some to install games.
Note, not sure if they're going to enforce that "family" thing, so maybe you can share your collection with your closest friends with relative ease ¯3¯
And just FYI:
Quote:
Trade-in and resell your disc-based games: Today, some gamers choose to sell their old disc-based games back for cash and credit. We designed Xbox One so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers. Microsoft does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games.
Future is weird :U
