Too sick to read a whole thread or play zOMG but I hope it's here for me if/when I get any better.
You said Swarf said basically, among other things:
When zOMG is given an update, revenue also increases.
zOMG was never marketed and advertised heavily, therefore it had no player base outside of Gaia. Whether it can attract large amount of people or not has not been tested. This is due to the high cost of advertising a MMO.
Couldn't word of mouth social net stuff promote zOMG? I mean, if social networking can promote uprisings in countries all over the world, you'd think a game could get a little visibility via its actual users.
So I'm sorry I'm too sick to help, but I suggest that you Occupy zOMG.
Thank you for your feedback! And I hope you feel better soon.
As for promoting zOMG, we are already doing it on twitter and Tumblr. However there are many factors which makes it an unappealing game to non gaians.
1. Since they changed the tutorial, the storyline and plot is disconnected.
2. The plot makes even less sense if you don't know Gaia canon history, which you won't know about unless you do extensive research, or were here during 2007 events.
3. The tutorial currently consists of picking up a ring and one shot KOing several animated. That is it, it explains nothing about game mechanics, and they get frustrated when they die a lot.
The game was never designed to draw in players from outside Gaia, and unless certain elements like tutorial gets reworked, it will continue to have little appeal no matter how we promote it.
gaia and zome in a way too are kind of underground,we should draw in new gaia members for non zomg reasons at first and then introduce them to zomg.gaia is mainly spread by word of mouth from players anyway
