It was originally idea-ed (lol, is that a word?) that one could choose what type of a character they would want to be, and you would gain certain "powers" according to that.

Example:
Mages would get magic, Knights would get physical power.

Ect. ect.~

I think that was originally released as a preview of the class system which was supposed to be released before the battle system, but has since been scrapped.
