On whether you should do normal or hard, if you are doing it for gold you should do normal. If you're doing it for a challenge then you should be doing a different boss. With a full set of buffs you shouldn't have any issues with hard, but if you go into hard without checking your buffs and end up with a minimal set of buffs you'll probably have some people die, which will make the run take longer. Furthermore, while the payout for completing hard is somewhat more than normal, in normal a full wave of saws only takes a couple of seconds to spawn, while in hard the full wave takes more like 15 seconds. Due to these issues playing ps on hard takes far longer than playing it on normal and the nominal gains in gold per round that you get in hard are outdone by how much quicker normal can be completed.

Didn't the difficulty get tweaked recently? So hard was harder, and so on?
That's what I've been told, anyway.
There were two changes to PS. First off, when the saws spawn between waves, instead of spawning in random locations they now spawn underneath the party members, which means there is more risk when you sit between waves. Secondly, in hard the regular saws were replaced with ripper saws that do more damage.
