You've got to walk right around the very edge. I mean as close to the lake as you can get. It's a worthwhile task though because the reward is like twenty orbs.

If you pause every few "steps" as you're walking around the edge of the lake you'll find it.

I seem to recall seeing that the mission may be glitched for some people. It's unfortunate because it's the best reward in Barton, but the mission isn't crucial to the overall game.

Yeah, every mission you get in Barton is just filler. You don't need them for the storyline. It's just (for the most part) an easy way to get orbs for lower CL players.

Of course it might appear in other areas as well. I’ve only done the quest a few times, and it’s been in a different place every time.
