      WELCOME!

First off, this thread is meant as a general FAQ area for those who have any questions about how to DMS.
The suggestions in this thread are given based off of years of experience and are given so that you and your crew can have a run that is easy, fast, and efficient.
In no way are the ring sets, methods, etc. listed in here final.

All average run times are estimates and are subject to change due to many factors such as levels of Crew members, ringsets, time spent recrewting/brbing/etc.

NOTICE: All of the information in this guide is from pre-shutdown.
It is still fairly accurate, but there are some newer techniques and roles which people have developed since the reboot of the game.
Unfortunately, I don't have time to research and add these into here, so I suggest looking for more updated guides.

      MINI FAQ

          What Is DMS?
DMS = Deadman's Shadow. It is inside of Deadman's Pass at Bill's Ranch.
Before you go in, I would really suggest that you get most, if not all 40 zOMG! rings and make them all 10.0.
By doing this, you benefit yourself and your crew by being someone who can easily change rings without risking a level drop.
          - For more about entering DMS, please check out the FAQ -

I thought you needed a Bloodstone to enter?
Not any more! Ever since 2012, DMS has been open to the public free of charge!
Of course, most crews still prefer you spend some money on power-ups like Revives, Ghi Amps, and possibly Superchargers,
but have fun going in and playing for free! See this announcement for more information!

      GENERAL TERMS

        • Aggro/Kite/Tank - The person who goes in first and gets the monsters attention. They take most of the damage as the rest of the crew comes in later and attacks everything. Specifically, Kites run around (in GR and Crypt) like a kite, while Tanks (a.k.a Aggros) usually stand in one spot (like in YM, part of Crypt, and BL)
        • BU - Back Up. They heal the kite. They are responsible for taking over as Kite, if the kite dies.
        • BUBU - BackUp-BackUp. Responsible for healing mostly the crew and the BU. and heals the kite at a set HP. they mostly attack if the Kite and BU are good.
        • DMS - Deadman's Shadow (Inside of Deadman's Pass)
        • Domo Door - The bat-shaped door in the upper right corner of the entrance to DMS. Nick-named "domo door" due to the resemblance to Domo. This door allows you to bypass Yellow Maze and enter directly into Green Maze.
        • DPS - Damage Per Second. Used to refer to attacker roles in crews who bring 4-6 attacks and are responsible for most of the killing.
        • Shorbs - Shadow Orbs. Monsters inside of DMS drop these instead of regular Charge Orbs. 10 shorbs are needed to upgrade a 10.0 ring up by 0.1 CL. 20 shorbs are needed to upgrade a 11.0 ring up by 0.1
        • Reg - Regular DMS, where one person aggros the monsters (gets their attention so you won't get attacked) and the rest of the crew focuses on attacking.
        • Repo - Repositioning. Basically, someone moving their avi from where they currently are. Tanks usually do this to make it easier for the crew to attack by spacing out / resetting monsters
        • Reset - Used mostly by tanks, this trick "resets" a monster back to its original spot, where it will not attack. This is a good technique to reduce damage from too much aggro as well as keeping nfs and bds under control.
        • SNS - Super Ninja Speed. A Ringset Strategy for Yellow Maze Farming that requires all 6 people to take no heals, no meat, and assigns a specific 8-ring ringset for each crew member. **Only for experienced players**
        • Speed - Speed is where everyone goes into the doors at once. Bringing wish is highly advised so that you can help the crew.
        • Suis - Nickname for "suicides". This is most often used in BL when Kamila spazzes. The DPSers and BU/BUBU will be exected to kill themselves in order for the tank to retain enough aggro points to properly tank Kamila.
        • Suppress - Changing you level to 11.4 CL. You do this in Reg and Speed in order to increase chances of loot.
        • Tuna - Becoming Attuned to the Domo Door in DMS. This means you have successfully found Kamila and completed your first 100 minions Quest.
        • Veggie - People who dont bring Meat ring.

      AREAS OF DMS

        • YR/YM - Yellow Room/Maze. This is the first section of caves in DMS, noted by the yellow lanterns blazing in their rooms. YM is 21 rooms long. Most monsters are 11.0 CL.
        • GR/GM - Green Room/Maze. This is the second section of caves in DMS, noted by the green lanterns blazing in their rooms. GR is 20 rooms long. Most monsters are 12.5 CL.
        • HPR - Hundred Percent Room. This is the third section of caves in DMS, though it's really just a corridor 3 screens long. Inside are 3 counts, blood bats, and Kamila.
        • Crypt - This is the area after HPR. Inside is a cemetery and you face the first form of Kamila as she sends vamps and blood bats after you. The tank lures monsters first, then the crew kills them. After all the monsters for one screen are killed, the crew moves on to killing coffins. Once these are finished, they attack Kamila as the tank aggros her, until she runs off to another screen.
        • BL - Bloodlust. This is the second form of Kamila and it takes place in a special place after crypt.

Order of DMS: YM -> GM -> HPR -> Crypt -> BL
[ For more on mapping in z!, check out Mapping the Mazes ]

      MONSTERS/ANIMATED

        • BB - Blood Bats. Found anywhere in DMS aside from YM and sometimes BL.
        • BD - Big Dog. A mini-boss of YM and GR. You usually attack it last.
        • NF - Night Fright. Another mini-boss of YM and GR. Again, attacking it last is usual.
        • Grue - These little guys are actually invisible, but they'll kill you right away if you don't have Solar Rays equipped. Don't worry though, they only appear from 12-2am GST.
        • Mimic - Also called "Troll/Evil Chests". YM has two types of chest monsters inside - ones with 460 HP and ones with 10258 HP. The ones with 460 are easy to kill and do not attack, but the 10k ones attack you and do quite a bit of damage. Because they're really animated monsters who "mimic" regular chests, we call them "mimics".
        • Kamila - The Final Boss of DMS. You face her in Crypt and Blood Lust and her CL is 13.0.

      RING TERMINOLOGY

        • Buffs - Buffs improve your stats. z! Buffs include: Iron Will, Rock Armor, Healing Halo, Ghost, Improbability Sphere, Keen Aye, Teflon Spray, Pot Lid, Coyote Spirit, My Density, Divinity, Fleet Feet, Turtle, Meat, Sweetheart
You could be assigned any of these [excluding Turtle, Fleet, Meat, and Sweetheart] at any point when DMSing, so it's a good idea to have most, if not all, 10.0+
        • Raging - Improbability Sphere | Teflon Spray | Pot Lid | Rock Armor (if not already r4)
These can be buffed over and over at r1 for rage. However, Rock will not rage if the majority of the crew already has it at r4.
        • Non-Raging - Iron Will | Healing Halo | Ghost | Keen Aye | Coyote Spirit | My Density | Divinity
These can only be buffed once at r1 for a small amount of rage. You can r1 them anytime and they will not reset (except for Iron, which sometimes glitches)
        • Scaling - Iron Will | Rock Armor | Halo | Ghost | Keen Aye | Teflon Spray
Meaning that a higher CL ring is more effective. Preferably 12.0.
        • Debuffs - Adrenaline | Knife Sharpen
These are like buffs, but you use them on monsters to give this "negative" buffs. Adrenaline is always assigned in a DMS crew (it weakens a monster's defense - making killing go faster). Since r2-r4 Shuriken has the same effect as Knife Sharpen, crews have mostly stopped assigning it.
        • Passive - Integrity | Fitness | Abuse | Fortune's Favor | Sugar Rush
These increase your stats (Except for Abuse). Highly advised you use at least one no matter what your role. (However, Sugar Rush is useless unless you are Kiting)
        • Rage Rank - Hopefully, you have learned how to use a rage meter by now. When buffing, attacking, healing, etc. you will want to use this rage. r4 (Rage Rank 4) is a full rage buff. r1 (Rage Rank 1) is just a single click of the mouse. Make sure to keep your buffs r4.

Bloodlust: ALL the Versions

      OVERVIEW

Bloodlust. This is the second form of Kamila and it takes place in a special place after crypt.
BL [Batless and Bat] consists of four roles: 1 Tank, 1 BU, 1 BUBU, 3 DPSers
BL [G-Glitch and G-Glitch with Bats] consists of two roles: 1 Tank, 5 DPSers
Amped BL averages about 10 min - 40 min
[Everyone amps except BU in Batless BL. BU amps in Bat BL.]

What's with all the different version?
Traditionally, Bloodlust has blood bats which spawn at random points during the battle.
However, some servers have BL with a bugged version of Bloodlust where there are no bats.
Addtionally, some other servers have what is known as "G-Glitch BL", where Kamila tries to stand directly on top of the tank
(similar to what happens when you select a target and hit the "G" key to stand on them -- thus the name)
This version of BL can be glitched so that Kamila gets stuck on a point of the map and never attacks.

      ROLES

          Tank
Ringset [Batless]: Bandage | Diagnose | Meat | Integrity | Fitness | Sugar Rush | [2 Opt. Slots: Turtle, Sweetheart, 1 Buff, Attack, ??]
Ringset [Bats]: Bandage | Diagnose | Meat | Integrity | Fitness | Sugar Rush | [2 Opt. Slots: Turtle, Sweetheart, 1 Buff, Attack, ??]
          Ringset [G-Glitch w/o Bats]: Bandage | Diagnose | Wish | Divinity | Keen Aye | Fitness | [2 Opt. Slots: Defib, Meat, Passives, ??]
          Ringset [G-Glitch w/ Bats]: Bandage | Diagnose | Wish | Meat | Fire Rain | Fitness | [2 Opt. Slots: Turtle, Passives, Wish, ??]
Ringset [no Integrity]: Bandage | Diagnose | Meat | Fitness | Sugar Rush | [3 Opt. Slots: Athlete Set, Turtle, Buff, ??]
          Optimal CL: 12.0
          Job Description: Tank Kamila.
How To: Lure Kamila and space yourself so that she only attacks with sword. Some tanks amp and have crew toggle for 5 min while r2-r4ing Diagnose on them, while others just purely tank Kamila for 5 min. [Crew should be G'd on BU or Kamila] Repo only if Kamila puts you to sleep. Just move a bit until she only attacks with her sword again. When Bat waves come, Turtle yourself (if you choose to take Turtle).
          Bat Waves at: 113k, 99k, 85k, 71.5k, 56k, 42.5k, 28k, 14k HP.

G-Glitch is a lot easier. You still do to 5 min of raging Diag and Wish on the crew, but after that, just stay in glitched spot and keep toggling and raging bandy to keep aggro. If Kamila spazzes, just make sure the crew stays in the same place and dies. If Kamila gets bumped out of glitch spot, re-glitch her. Rebuff when crew dies.
G-Glitch with bats is similar to this. When bats spawn, r3-r4 Bandage yourself to lure them, then use Fire Rain on bats. Turtle if there is a 12 set.

          BU
          Ringset [Batless]: Bandage | Wish | 2 Buffs | 2 Attacks | 1 Passive | [Opt. Slot: Passive #2, Attack #3, ??]
          Ringset [Bats]: Bandage | Diagnose | Wish | Meat | Fire Rain | 2 Buffs | Fitness / Integrity
          Ringset [Fleet Method]: Bandage | Wish | 2 Buffs | Fleet Feet | 2 Attacks | 1 Passive
          Optimal CL: 11.9 - 12.0
          Job Description: Heal the Tank.
How To: After Tank has Kamila properly positioned, G on Kamila and heal the Tank when needed. Rage Bandage more than Wish. If Bat BL, over heal tank 4k before Bats spawn, then r4 Fire Rain when bats do spawn and tank them while crew kills.
If doing Fleet method, and BU is one of the Fleeters, r3-r4 Fleet. r2 or lower does not give a willpower boost.

          BUBU [Optional]
          Ringset [Batless]: Wish | 2 Buffs [1 Raging, 1 Non-Raging] | 4 Attacks | 1 Passive | [Opt. Slot: Passive #2, Attack #5]
Ringset [Bats]: Bandage | Wish | 2 Buffs | 3 Attacks | [Opt. Slot: Passive or Attack]
          Ringset [Fleet Method]: Wish | 2 Buffs | Fleet Feet | 3 Attacks | 1 Passive
          Optimal CL: 11.7 - 12.0
Job Description: Heal the BU and Tank.
How To: Heal Tank at set HP. If Bat BL, heal BU and Tank when bats spawn.

          DPS

Additional FAQ & Information

      MORE QUESTIONS

Please take a moment to read through these! (spoilered due to length)
Q: Am I ready for DMS?
A: If you're 10.0 and have most, if not all, 40 z! rings at 10.0, then yes, you are!

Q: I want to DMS, but people say I'm too low of a level. Why?
A: If you are not 10.0+ with your DPS set and assigned buffs, then you will not get any loot. And what's the point of DMS-ing when you won't get the shadow orbs / quest items for your hard work?

Q: Is it possible to solo DMS?
A: To a certain point, yes. Yellow Maze is semi-easy if you are 11.4 CL or higher. GR was proved to be solo-able recently by XPrinceofTricky3 as well, but you need to be 12.0 and have amazing luck with rooms. You can only usually only solo one or two rooms before you have to give up and go back to the null chamber to rebuff yourself. This, along with the fact that it takes a long time to solo and you get very little loot, is why most people prefer crewing.

Q: Am I ready for tuna?
A: If you're 11.4+ with 4-5 attacks, 2 Buffs, and 1-2 Passives, then you most likely are.

Q: I want to GR / Tuna, but people say I'm too low of a level. Why?
A: As stated earlier - GR's monsters are 12.5 CL. If you are below 11.0 CL, then you would do only 1 Damage point with each attack, even with an amp. Also, you would take a lot more damage from a monster if some hit you while the kite was passing by. DMS is like the rest of z! You can't go on to Zen Gardens when you're only 2.0 CL. You would die! Similarly, you can't go on to GR until you're around 11.4 CL.
[However, some crews have attuned 10s. Don't get your hopes up though.]

Q: What are some good attacks?
A: The following is based on popular opinion and some research -
            Tier 1: Hack, Slash, Mantis
            Tier 2: Bump, Hotfoot, Shuriken
Tier 3: Solar Rays, Shark Attack, Guns Gun Guns, Hunter's Bow
[Try to have at least 3 of your attacks in your Ringset be from Tier 1 or 2]

AoE (Area of Effect - Derv, Fire Rain, Balloon, and Hornet) attract unwanted aggro and do pitiful damage. Highly unsuggested until you do GR+.

Q: How do you reset monsters?
          A: Here's a step-by-step guide to resetting:
            1. After you enter the room, pay attention to where the monster originally is (before things attack). This is where it will reset to.
            2. After room is activated, try to run away from monster before it moves too far from this original spot.
            3. If it keeps following you, try to "drag" the monster back to this spot (or a wall next to it)
            4. When monster is almost right next to you, quickly dash to the opposite side of the room, as far away as possible from monster.
            5. If monster stops following you, wait in that same spot for a few moments.
            6. If monster returns to its original position and passively sits there, it is reset!! (Do not move or else you might un-reset) If it keeps attacking, repeat Steps 3-5 again.

Q: How do you aggro a NF/BD in YM?
A: Heals are what get you aggro. Keep healing as much as possible after resetting the mini boss. I usually like to r4 Bandy at least 7 times before crew attacks the mini boss. r2-r4 Wishing your crew, as well as using Diag on them a bit will also help get aggro. When they start attacking the mini boss, keep toggling and raging with your heals as much as possible. r4 Bandy when you have full rage, sit for stam (not too long though), etc. Rinse and Repeat until mini boss is dead.
If you happen to lose aggro, don't worry too much. Just go over to your crew and start using Diagnose and Wish on them, since they'll need the heals. If you happen to get aggro back, then start kiting the mini boss until it dies.

Q: What server do most people go on?
A: Usually the one at the bottom of the list, or the first alphabetic server.
