Welcome to my guide!

This guide serves many purposes. You will find information on Quests, Animated and the Badges you collect throughout your journeys in zOMG.

Read the post below to find out more about how to read the guide, definitions for words, and the latest updates to the thread. smile

Please use one of the following forms if you have any questions or want to note any things that have changed in the game that haven't been updated in the guide. ONLY post these in the thread. If you PM me I will probably ignore and delete it. I am not on 24/7, so if you ask questions in the thread you are likely to get a way better and faster response. And I regularly check the thread for noted changes. wink

Question:

I've got a question!
Your CL: (Also note if you are suppressing and to what level)
Rings: (You only need to note these if you are having trouble defeating a particular animated)
Question: (Try and be as detailed as you can. The more info you give the easier it'll be for someone to answer your question without having to ask you multiple questions :D)

Example:
I've got a question!
Your CL: My CL is 3
Rings: (You only need to note these if you are having trouble defeating a particular animated)
Question: I'm having trouble getting in to Bass'ken Lake. I want to do Mark's Ring quest. How do I get in?!

Ch-ch-changes!:
They changed it again!!
Area: (Barton, Village Greens, Bill's Ranch, etc.)
Thing Changed: (Quest, Animated, etc)
What's Different: (If a new quest is added please try and give as much info as you can.)

Example:
They changed it again!!
Area: Aqueduct

This is a
Work in Progress.

All information within is subject to change as the game is still in Beta. As such, after updates, it may take me a day or two to update with the new info. Please take a moment and skim the last few pages before reporting anything.

This guide will be undergoing constant updating until the game is out of beta.

 • Suppression Explanation.
 • Updated Drop Lists with text and Common/Uncommon distinction added.
 • Updated HP (everything Otami and above is wrong, need to double check DMP).

Current Known Problems in zOMG:

(Please note that if an update has recently happened some of these things may no longer be an issue and new issues may have arisen)
 • If you get a broken quest please make a report here. Sometimes Qixter or one of the other devs also has a post in the zOMG forum if you can post in (currently none).
 • The Returning Regular quest still has some issues.
 • Meastro still doesn't like giving out the Re-Composing badge all the time

Each area will include a small descriptions, a suggested Charge Level for your rings, and general map links along with specialized map links. This information will be found at the very beginning of each post.

Next you'll find a list of quests. Where appropriate I'll try and group quests according to the chain they are in. You'll also notice some quest will have a prerequisite quest listed. There will also be images of the NPCs involved in the quest to the right of each one. Where appropriate you'll find notes and links to maps on each quest.

Towards the bottom of each post you should find some Hints and Tips for the area and Badges you can attain in the area along with the qualifications for the badge.

http://i33.tinypic.com/35hoeba.jpg

Rings Drops: All creatures drop rings, though they are a 'rare' drop. To increase your chances of getting a ring, run around with a crew. Everyone in your crew gets a chance at drops for each creature killed. The early major quest chains will also give you rings.

Killing Quests: Anytime you get a quest asking you to kill X number of an Animated, or to kill a Mini-Boss you must get on the hate list of the Animated to receive credit. This is done by attacking the Animated, Healing or Buffing people that are actively fighting the animated.

Quest Chains: Basically most quests are one BIG chain. However you can start in each area without having finished the quest chain in a previous area, BUT you will miss out on a few quests and their rewards. Each quest chain should send you on to the next area, however a few quests may no longer be available to you if you skipped forward. Notably there is a Katsumi quest from Rubella that you cannot get if you have already spoken with Katsumi prior to getting the quest from Rubella, so if you want to enjoy the quests and their rewards to their fullest, don't skip ahead!!

Quest Rewards: After you finish a quest you'll hear a "Tada" type noise in the background. You'll also receive some gold and charge orbs. Some quests will also provide an additional reward such as a recipe. Quests that give an additional reward will have a "Special Rewards" section added to them.

Chests/Crates/Baskets: When opening these you may get gold, orbs, loot drops and/or a ring. If you get nothing from opening it, you will get one of two messages. They are:
1. "There is nothing in there for you"
- This means that you have recently opened this and you may only open each chest/crate/basket once per Gaian day
2. Something relating to "empty air"
- Your CL is too high for this particular chest/crate/basket. If you lower your CL to the correct range, it will drop things for you. You can check the suggested CL for each area to see about where you should be.

http://i34.tinypic.com/rlgf3b.jpg

You might notice as you read that I throw around a few terms or acronyms you may not be used to hearing if you are new to zOMG. I'll try and briefly list and describe them below. If some word I've used confuses you and you don't see it here, don't hesitate to say something.

Badges: Badges work through the quest system. You don't need to talk to anyone or accept anything. You simply get them by killing a certain number of an Animated or by visiting specific places. You can also get them from the mini-games in zOMG. Every time you finish a quest, you should here a specific sound and your quest log button should also start glowing, the same is true for Badges. You can view your Badges by looking in your completed Quest log in the game or under My Gaia. You can display your badges for all to see if you are using the current profile system add the content box for Badges.

The Animated: these in short are the monsters in zOMG that you'll be fighting. Throughout your quests you should hear about them.

CL or Charge Level: When you finish quests you'll receive charge orbs (also you get them from monsters occasionally). You'll want to invest these into your rings to increase their charge. Your charge level is the average charge of all the rings you are currently wearing. You can see this by looking at your player information in the game. You also may notice that your average CL isn't your exact average, there is a bit of a curve added to the average CL to make it a bit easier for those users who may not get regular ring drops and thus have a few empty slots that are counted as CL 1.

Crew: A crew is a group or party. On the bottom of your screen you should see a button with multiple people. If you press it, it'll open a new little window on your screen that has your crew members in it. If you join a crew it will also automatically open.

Box: Each map is split up into boxes. You can only view one box at a time, unless you are transitioning from one box to the next, then you will watch the screen scroll to the next box, once the box is done loading you can only see that box. You can however see Animated indicators for the next box when you walk near the edge.

Farm: This word is not used in the traditional sense of the word, you don't actually do any physical farming in the game. When I talk about farming a chest, that means you will camp the area and repeatedly kill the spawn and open the chest to collect the orbs hidden within.

Camp: To camp an area means you don't move from where you are and wait for the spawn to pop.

Spawn: The animated have specific places they appear. When one pops up that means it spawned and is thus often called a spawn and the place it spawned is the spawn point.

http://i38.tinypic.com/nffqye.jpg

For these first few areas of zOMG you'll pretty much be following a specific path, though you can always choose to just explore or kill the Animated. Do note that the Training Sequence Sewers and the Sewers for Barton Quests are very different!

http://i36.tinypic.com/2akdzxd.jpg

You find yourself on a train. You should see another person near you. He's the first NPC you'll meet in zOMG.

Click on Frank to start the conversation.

Follow the directions that Frank gives you. Early in the conversation he'll ask you to move closer.

Click or move with your keyboard to the area where the green circle appears

Continue chatting with Frank. Pay attention to what Frank has to say. He'll help you get started. Frank will give you your first ring. It's called Solar Rays. It is a decent ranged ring. Frank will teach you how to use it. To do so, you'll need to learn how to target your enemies. When Frank tells you to, click on the trash can or use the '~' or 'Q' key.

Now Frank will tell you how to use your ring. Just press 1 or use your mouse to click on the Solar Rays ring on your Ring Bar. It should take about two hits to take out the Trash Can. Remember, when you start getting more rings, when using your keyboard you'll want to click 1-8 depending on which ring slot the ring you want is in.

Frank will now show you how to use Rage. Hold down the 1 key or hold down your mouse button on the Solar Rays Icon until you see the red meter light up past some of the rage markers.

Finish reading what Frank tells you. Once you see "The doors unlock as the train slides to a stop" flash across the screen, move your mouse over the doors of the train. You should see some gears. Click the doors and you'll exit the train.

http://i44.tinypic.com/m9opba.jpg

Something isn't quit right when you exit the train. The lights are off and you are under attack!! Use the skills Frank taught you to wipe out the two Peelungers that come at you. Once they are dead, the lights will come back on.

You should now be able to see another NPC. Talk with Barry. He'll give you some more hints and tips about how to play zOMG so pay close attention! Barry is going to send you to go find Dani so that you can continue on your journey.

http://i43.tinypic.com/2vwb41t.jpg

Once you first enter the Sewers you should get a box that pops up. Make sure you read it! Head to the next screen down and you should find Dani. Talk to Dani to get your first real task!
Note: If you aren't at 100 health and 100 stamina, take a moment and kneel till both are at 100.
Maps: Sewers (Small, Blank), Sewers (Large, Complete)

The Mumbler
Step 1: Dani says that the "mumbling gramster" she heard ran off into the room to the east. Head toward the flag shown on your PDA Map feature.
Step 2: You should see some Peelungers, use your Solar Rays ring to Take them out. After they are all gone, some gramsters should start spawning. Make sure you take them out. When the Mumbler appears, don't be afraid to hit him with high powered rage attack to kill him faster.
Step 3: Open the chest, Dani's passcard is hiding inside. You should also receive a second ring, which will be completely random, some orbs and some loot drops.
Step 4: Now that you've found the passcard, return to Dani and give it to her.
Rewards: One Null Fragment, one orb, and 10 gold.

After you talk to Dani for a bit more she sends you off on your second quest.

Finding Elizabeth
Step 1: Head up one of the ladders in the sewers and look far a guard named Elizabeth (She should be standing just north of the Guild House in the Southwest area of Barton. She will also give you a quest, The Null Chamber (for more information on the quest check the post on Barton)
Rewards: One orb, and 5 gold.

http://i33.tinypic.com/35hoeba.jpg

Chests, Crates and Baskets: There is only one chest in the new Training Sequence. This chest is something that you won't miss and need to open to get out of the sewers.

http://i35.tinypic.com/2lafo75.jpg

Description: The Town is thriving with not just the various shopkeepers and personalities you already know, but many more characters are being added to make it feel like a thriving village. You'll be able to spend a lot of time here, in Gaia's original town.
CL: Doesn't matter, there are no animated.
Map: NPC Map (Small), Barton (Large, Complete)
Comments: Please note that from here on out, you don't have to do anything in a particular order, unless you are working on a quest chain.
If you don't think you are quite ready to face the animated, you can stick around Barton. A number of the NPC's here have quests for you that require no killing at all. This is also a good way to get a decent pack of charge orbs to use on your rings later.

Description: It's dark. It's gloomy. It's a twisted, creepy mountain above Bill's Ranch with a house at the top owned by an ancient family that no one sees in the daytime. It's not a popular tourist destination.
CL: 2.2-2.9 (Note: The rare spawns in this area are above the CL listed)
Map: DMP (Small), DMP (Large, Complete)

http://i33.tinypic.com/35hoeba.jpg

Easter Egg: I am unsure of the exact trigger that results in this message but if you hang out in DMP you may get a red message on your screen that says: "It is pitch black, you are likely to be eaten by a grue." Which is a reference from an old game called Zork.

Extra Spawns: If you hang around in DMP long enough, you might find some low level spawns wandering around. Generally they'll head up the stairs but will turn around and head back to the gate to the Ranch if you don't attack them before you get to the Gate to the House on the Hill.

The Graveyard: As you wander around you should notice a graveyard. You'll get a badge just for finding it, and you can get more by playing songs on the tombstones. Remember, you need to stand next to the tombstone that you are touching or it won't work.

For the purposes of the guide I have ordered the Tombstones like this:
http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Maps/tombstones.png,

Description: To the west of Barton Town lie the sculpted and manicured Zen Gardens, tended by a family of resident botanists and horticulturists. Koi ponds, bamboo trees and groves of lanterns surround a central contemplation shrine. Famed throughout Gaia, these Gardens are a well-loved tourist destination. The woods they border to the west are dense thickets that few people have a reason to brave. The road leading west is the way to Durem.
CL: 2.8-4.0 (crew recommended due to creature mobbing)
Map: Zen Gardens (Small), Zen Gardens (Large, Complete)
Notes: Drums beat all over the Northern area. Kokeshi Dolls roam around the paths and their collectible counter parts hang out in the Southeastern corner. http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/kokeshi1.pngKokeshi Doll: Seemingly small and innocent, these toy dolls have become...twisted. Watch what they carry. They are NOT your fans. These dolls overall will ignore you unless you attack one of their friends near them. They have a ranged attack.
HP: 112-128
Drops: Charge Orb, Mystic Weave, Fan Wood, Fan Edge
Recipes: Kokeshi Fan, Kokeshi Doll???

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/collectible1.pngKokeshi Collectible: Unlike the fairly peaceful Kokeshi Doll, these collectibles will attack you if you come near them. Not only do these dolls throw their fan at you, but they also have a 'Boom" attack. They hang out in the Southeast corner of the map.
HP: 323+
Drops: Charge Orb, Mystic Weave, Fan Wood, Fan Edge
Recipes: Kokeshi Fan

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/collectible1.pngKokeshi Nexus: Unlike the fairly peaceful Kokeshi Doll, these collectibles will attack you if you come near them. Not only do these dolls throw their fan at you, but they also have a 'Boom" attack. They hang out in the Southeast corner of the map. This will spawn on the first bridge during the Three Bridges Quest, it sometimes also called a Kokeshi Collectible
HP: 323+
Drops: Charge Orb, Mystic Weave, Fan Wood, Fan Edge
Recipes: Kokeshi Fan

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/katkokeshi.pngKatsumi's Kokeshi Doll: This white doll will only spawn when the two Kokeshi Collectibles guarding the SE chest in Zen Gardens have been defeated. It will then proceed to lock onto the nearest threat and start tearing away at it with its fans. In addition to being the fiercest Kokeshi Doll in the area, any nearby Kokeshis will rush to its aid if they wander by close enough, and tend to concentrate all of their attacks on one person if there isn't anybody else helping, which will quickly destroy anybody without adequate protection. After you've defeated it, feel free to loot the chest it spawns next to.
HP: 1500+
Drops: Charge Orb
Recipe: Kokeshi Kimono

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/cherryfluff.pngCherry Fluff: These Fluffs may look cute and soft to the touch, but don't be deceived. They pack a mean punch and don't like to die without taking you with them. If you attack one, the others will near them will come to their aid.
HP: 118-143
Drops: Charge Orb, Pink Fluff, Lace, Thread
Recipes: Sakura Fluff Plushie

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/taiko.pngTaiko Drum: These large, hefty drums have gone wild, attacking anything nearby with a pounding shockwave of earth-shattering proportions that can hit several people at once. In addition, if you're a good distance away from it, it'll attempt to tackle you with a mighty leap, and will knock you (and perhaps a few innocent bystanders) quite far if you aren't too heavy and don't get out of the way. They tend to wander around in groups, and unprepared adventurers may find themselves being shoved around faster than they can fight back.
HP: 253-316
Drops: Charge Orb, Music Note, Laquered Wood, Bronze
Recipes: Taiko Drum

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/taikonexus.pngTaiko Bass Drum/Taiko Drum Nexus: This brown drum is much stronger than a normal Taiko Drum for two main reasons: tougher to hurt and a larger strike range for its shockwave attack. You'll probably want to bring a group to fight this thing. It spawns for the Three Bridges along with two normal Taiko Drums.
HP: 672+
Drops: Charge Orb
Recipes: ???

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/ghostlantern.pngGhost Lantern: Each evening after sunset, these disembodied flames hover in the night air. If you get too close to the flames, you might not like what happens. They will transform and begin to lick you to death. You can find them at night in any place you see hanging paper lanterns.
HP: 227-252
Drops: Charge Orb, Night Fire, Silk, Wood Piece
Recipes: Forum Badge (GD), Kokeshi Kimono

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/ghostlantern.pngGhost Lamp/Lantern Nexus: Much like the Ghost Lanterns, this Ghost Lantern Nexus will only spawn at night and has a reddish hue to it. If you have completed the first two bridges in The Battle of Three Bridges, you will be able to meet this lamp which turns red when it begins to attack you.

Step 2: Find the She Wolf's den and then do whatever is necessary to "rescue" Gustav's axe from her. The den is the west of Gustav, walk under the section of rocks to enter the den.

Step 4: Return to Gustav for your reward.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/NPC/Gustav.pngCheri's Sister (Prerequisite: Completed Mon Cheri) Note: Drop numbers may have increased, please let me know if you do this quest and are asked for more.
Step 1: Speak with Gustav to accept the quest.
Step 2: You can gather 4 iron ore from the Buzzsaws here in Bass'ken Lake.

Step 4: You can find the 2 axe heads you need by pursuing and defeating Outlaw Pups on the south side of Bass'ken Lake.
Step 5: Collect a single piece of lacquered wood from the Taiko Drums in the Zen Gardens. (Common Drop)
Step 6: Now that you've found all the pieces, return to Gustav so that he can show you how to make a "sister" to his beloved Cheri.
Notes: All steps must be done in order. When you are looking for drops in previous areas you will most likely need to suppress your CL to get it between 2 and 3 to get drops off the Animated at Bill's Ranch and between 3 and 4 to get drops off the Animated in Zen Gardens.

Step 2: Recover a giant needle nose from an Alarmskeeter near the skeeter hive south of Bill's Ranch for Old Man Logan. Perhaps Rancher Bill can help you locate one.
Step 3: Return to Old Man Logan at the Ole Fishing Hole in Bass'ken Lake once you have located a giant needle nose.
Note: After you talk to Rancher Bill and head to the Skeeter Hive you should see a red message pop up on the screen when you come across the skeeter you need to kill.

Step 1: Speak with Old Man Logan to accept the quest.
Step 2: Attach Old Man Logan's Outlaw Puprepelling device to the windmill on the northeastern shore of Bass'ken Lake.
Step 3: Return to Old Man Logan at the Ole Fishing Hole in Bass'ken Lake and report what happened at the windmill.

Special Rewards: Recipe: Logan's Vest

If you run around Bass'ken Lake, you may notice you'll occasionally get a Ring Box flying around the screen. If you chase after it and it alludes you, just head back to where you first saw it. It'll eventually pass you again.

If you hang around the two docks on the northern part of the map you might see the Bass'ken Lake Monster, typically referred to as Bassie by Gaians.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/temppic.pngTrash Can: Whacking these trash cans seems to be the mating call of the grass fluffs and carrion fluffs. As long as the can is spawned it will only call one type of fluff. Once you destroy it, it may or may not call a different type of fluff.
HP: 840
Drops: None
Recipes: None

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/goofgreensfluff.pngGrass Fluff: These green fluffs are the most docile creatures in the area, and will not attack you if you get close to them. However, they will defend themselves as a group, and if there's any Mother Fluff packs roaming around, they may take notice and join in the battle.
HP: 168-189
Drops: Charge Orb, Sponge, Stem
Recipes: Life Jacket, Clover Fluff Plushie

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/goofgreensfluff.pngMother Fluff Guard: Guards always surround the Mother Fluff at all times as they patrol Bass'ken. They're much tougher than normal grass fluffs. Also, the Mother Fluff may spawn more of them over time, if there are some missing in the patrol group. You will on occasion find them in a group of three without the Mother Fluff.
HP: 554-605
Drops: Charge Orb, Sponge, Stem
Recipes: Life Jacket, Clover Fluff Plushie

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/goofgreensfluff.pngMother Fluff (Goosey, Lucy, Mary Bussey): This sizable Grass Fluff is one of the stronger Animated in Bass'ken, and requires a team more often than not in order to actually kill it, aside from the fact that it always travels with several Mother Fluff Guards. In addition to being super tough, it will also spawn more guards to replace lost ones if it is not killed quickly enough. She also poops out regular grass fluffs and carrion fluffs as she hops around the southern half of the Bass'ken Lake area.
HP: 4268-4656
Drops: Charge Orb, Sponge, Stem
Recipes: Shovel Blade

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/carrionflowerfluff.pngCarrion Flower Fluff: Don't be fooled by their resemblance to grass fluffs; carrion flower fluffs have both the disposition and strength of angry badgers. Try not to wander too close if you're unable to fight them. They will eat you alive as if you were a piece of carrion. Mother Fluff poops these guys out around the southern half of the Bass'ken Lake area.
HP: 252-277
Drops: Charge Orb, Suspenders, Lure
Recipes: Shovel Blade, Fisherman's Hat

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/buzzsaw.pngBuzzsaw: Buzzsaws live in the northern section of the forests, above the river. These suckers are both annoying to listen to and can hit from a bit farther than most melee rings, so try to close the distance if you need to. They always spawn from the sawmill in groups, ranging from two to five saws, and can quickly gang up on you. Their attacks will push you around, and some of them will run away to bring back help before attacking you
HP: 202-210
Drops: Charge Orb, Saw Blade, Aluminum, Iron Ore
Recipes: Scar of the Martyr, Bass'ken Waders

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/mamasaw.pngSister Buzzsaw: No Saw Family is complete without Sister Saw. Sister Saw doesn't spawn nearly as often as her mother, but if you hang around the Saw Mill long enough your are bound to see her slicing poor unsuspecting adventurers to pieces.
HP: ???
Drops: Charge Orb, Saw Blade, Aluminum, Iron Ore

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/mamasaw.pngMama Buzzsaw: The mother of all saws will quickly assault anybody who is threatening her babies near the saw mill, next to the docks. There isn't much to say in terms of difference between her and her children aside from being larger and stronger.
HP: 1395+
Drops: Charge Orb, Saw Blade, Aluminum, Iron Ore

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/papasaw.pngPapa Buzzsaw: Taking down Mama Saw will result in a very enraged Papa Saw bursting out of the saw mill. He's even larger and stronger than Mama Saw. Hope you planned this far ahead. He will only spawn if someone in the area has the Papa Sawn quest active.
HP: 2662+
Drops: Charge Orb, Saw Blade, Aluminum, Iron Ore

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/pup.pngOutlaw Pup: These small dogs are scattered all across the southern edge of Bass'ken. They used to be jackets, but have recently sprouted legs and are now sporting the rugged (read: aggressive) personalities of their former owners. You'll either find them in roaming packs or on their own, sitting there all peaceful like. The ones near the Shewolf den will run away to bring back help from the cave.
HP: 223-233
Drops: Charge Orb, Cured Hide, Axe Head, Stiches
Recipes: Scar of the Tyrant, Bass'ken Claws

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/wolf.pngOutlaw Wolf: Outlaw wolves are adult versions of Outlaw Pups. That means they are bigger and badder. Watch out for their ferocious bite and claws. They guard the den, and if they're slain, the Shewolf will appear....
HP: 766
Drops: Charge Orb, Cured Hide, Axe Head, Stiches
Recipes: Scar of the Tyrant, Bass'ken Claws

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/shewolf.pngShewolf: This is one tough mutha. A crew is highly recommended. After you kill her guards the first time, she will not only appear, but her guards will respawn when she comes to fight you. She will also only spawn if someone in the area has the Mon Cheri quest active.
HP: 3142+
Drops: Charge Orb, Cured Hide, Axe Head, Stiches
Recipes: Scar of the Tyrant, Bass'ken Claws

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/flyingbox.pngRing Box Monster: Ring boxes are few and far in the entire area, and they tend to travel faster than people, so if you want to fight it, you'll have to get its attention fast before it gets away. They travel a set path, so if you see one, you can wait in that spot to jump it as it passes by again. Be prepared for a tough fight, though; they're considerably stronger than most Animated in Bass'ken, and like other flying enemies, possess a higher dodge stat than you'd expect. However, they also contain considerable rewards, including a lot of rings (as the name implies), though they will generally be CL1.
HP: 767+
Drops: Charge Orb, Ribbon, Cloth, Random number of CL 1 rings.
Recipes: Gift Box, Scar of the Rogue

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/flyingbox.pngFlying Gift Box Monster: Think gift boxes gone bad. Once ordinary....er, enchanted flying gift boxes (we sure have a funny definition of ordinary), for some reason, they now feel only pain and emptiness. Guess what it wants to FILL THE BOX with. They're almost the same as ring boxes, except for two facts....they only spawn (in a group) when it's nighttime, or when you've activated the windmill device.....and they're a lot more aggressive when it comes to the need to FEEEED. They won't drop a lot of rings compared to ring boxes, but they do still drop the rare ingredients and gift box recipe, both of which are highly sought after. Just be prepared to fight more than one at a time.
HP: 767+
Drops: Charge Orb, Ribbon, Cloth
Recipes: Gift Box, Scar of the Rogue

Description: The old boardwalk here has been purchased by a coalition of pirates and is being renovated for a massive grand opening in the future. Currently, most of the area is still sealed off as the construction continues, but some of what is changing can be seen from the beach, and the pirates give hints of things to come.
CL: 5.0-6.0
Map: Boardwalk (Small, Blank), Boardwalk (Large, Complete)
Comments: If you don't want to go to the Aqueduct yet, run over to the Beach and pick up Brodie's Anchor Bug Quest. Keep running across the Boardwalk and back to Brodie once you defeat 10 anchor bugs. Once you get bored you should head to the Aqueduct and do the Concerned Citizen's Quests.

Description: This popular tourist beach is golden sand next to gentle lagoon-like waves. Surfers paddle far out past the barrier reef to catch the bigger waves there, and they swear that the rides are worth the effort. A lighthouse stands high over the beach, warning ships about the reef so they don't add to the countless shipwrecks found throughout the Shallow Sea.
CL: 6.0-7.0 (crew recommended for Anchor Bug mobs and Sand Fluffs)
Map: Beach (Small, Blank), Beach(Large, Complete), Momento Detector (by Oddguy)
Comments: Before staying in Gold Beach for an extended amount of time you should head to the Aqueduct. The animated there tend to be at a slightly lower level and have less painful special abilities. The lower anchor bugs in the Beach are slightly higher than the Anchor Bugs in the Boardwalk, and can suffice for a while if you want to keep doing Brodie's quest, but you should find the Aqueduct to be a bit more versatile, until you can handle more of the beach than just a few screens.

On the upside, they don't really care at all until you actually hit them. Bring either a ranged attack or an iron will ring to deal with these things.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/SandCastleGolem.pngSand Castle Golem: Once thousands of sand castles swept beneath high tide or strong winds, these things are now alive and furious at pretty much anybody. They'll strike normally with their lances, or if you're trying to run away or ranged attack them, dive beneath the sand and suddenly burst out of the ground like a subterranean Kool-Aid man. Both attacks will shove you backwards.
HP: 345-360

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/SandCastleGolem.pngSand Revenant: These look much like Sand Castle Golems but a bit bigger and stronger. They lay somewhere between the strength of a regular golem and Duneslam. You'll encounter these guys on Duneslam Island as well as two boxes south of the null crystal.
HP: ???
Drops: , ,
Recipes: Shell Collection, Cat's Eye Sunglasses

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/temppic.pngDuneslam: Duneslam's basically just a larger version of the other sand castle golems in the area, located on an island that you reach by hopping on the boat along the shore. Just pound away at him (with a crew, if needed) until he's down for the count, then claim your prize from the chest behind him. He can be noted by the dark blue bucket on his head.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/waterspout.pngWater Spout: Normally, it's quite safe to traverse the open ocean, but at night, watch out for these things. They'll hound you as soon as you get near them, and it's very easy to catch the attention of several at once, even if they don't call for help. Luckily, they're not much stronger than other enemies in the area. Just be on the lookout for those telltale ripples in the waves...
HP: 285-322+
Drops: , ,
Recipes: Lei, Tropical Sarong

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/landshark.pngLand Shark: These things are to be feared and respected, both for their rarity, which is worthy of the endangered status on the wildlife preservation list, or the fact that they're tough as heck and will give even a CL 10.0 a handful to deal with. Sand sharks possess a bewildering amount of HP, a ridiculous range of attack (about half the screen's length away from the actual target), and can hit several people because its lunges affect an area of attack, or AoE. Long story short: "freight train with teeth".

Should you ever encounter one of these beasties (it'll spawn in place of the other mobs in a screen), immediately call for the assistance of a crew with the traditional "HELP, THERE'S A GINORMOUS MONSTROSITY GNAWING ON ME AS IF I WERE A DEEP-FRIED TWINKIE!" followed by the description of the map location you're in....as best as you can type it out while attempting to flee a giant saw-toothed beast. Not only can you save your hide, the shark's more likely to reward the crew with some rare loot.

There is a special trigger that spawns the Land Sharks.

Description: The remains of the old aqueduct that was used before the Durem Reclamation Facility was created are still present here, although dilapidated and fallen now into beautiful ruin. The jungles to the northwest stretch down this far, but have not yet fully consumed the old stones. The Zurg artifact called the Star Portal lies dormant here still, guarded by a handful of ever-present GIB agents.
CL: 5.0-6.0 (crew recommended because of the roaming Commander and constant grouping by the animated)
Map: Aqueduct (Small, Blank), Aqueduct (Large, Complete)
Comments: Please note that the Tiny Terrors here don't drop anything and that they and the Predator Pups in the NW corner do not count towards kills for those mobs.

A New Species
Step 1: Speak with Concerned Citizen to accept the quest.
Step 2: The guy in the black suit asks you to check out the new alien species that came through the Star Portal, knocking out a few of them near their home burrows and finding out what sorts of things they carry.
Step 3: Return to the Concerned Citizen to receive your reward.

Scanning the Burrows (Prerequisite: Completed A New Species)
Step 1: Speak with Concerned Citizen to accept the quest.
Step 2: The guy in the black suit attached a scanner to your collar and asked you to get close to five out of eight of the P3 burrows in the area. Once the scanner reads the energies in that area, his "scientists" will decipher that info to learn more about the Pups.
Step 3: Return to the Concerned Citizen to receive your reward.
Notes: You can find all eight burrows marked on this map. Remember you only need to visit five of them.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Preda Gauntlets

Get the Transponder Portal! (Prerequisite: Completed Scanning the Burrows)
Step 1: Speak with Concerned Citizen to accept the quest.
Step 2: Find the Commander of the Predator Prairie Pups. Knock him out and take the transponder for the Star Portal that he carries on his person.
Step 3: Return to the Concerned Citizen to receive your reward.
Notes: The Commander roams around with a few Honor Guards, so if you hang out in one spot for a while, he should cross your path unless someone else gets to him first.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Preda Helmet

Through the Star Portal! (Prerequisite: Completed Get the Transponder)
Step 1: Speak with Concerned Citizen to accept the quest.
Step 2: This is not what you expected! Survive...for as long as you can!
Step 3: Return to the Concerned Citizen to receive your reward.
Notes: You'll get badges for this if you meet certain requirements. Completing this quest won't close tho Star Portal to you either. You can also find the Star Portal marked on this map.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Preda Armor

Into the Fray! (Prerequisite: Completed Through the Star Portal!??)
Step 1: Speak with Concerned Citizen to accept the quest.
Step 2: Jump into the thick of things between the Tiny Terrors and the Preda-Pups in their constant war at the base of the western hill. Defeat at least ten combatants on each side to gather details of what you see there.
Step 3: Return to the Concerned Citizen to receive your reward.
Notes: This is a repeatable quest with a CL cap of 6.1. Not all Pups or Terrors in the warzone will count, but just hang out there killing as many as you can.

Alien Salvage (Prerequisite: ??)
Step 1: Speak with GCorp Labtech to accept the quest.
Step 2: Salvage 20 damaged biochips by defeating Predator Prairie Pups, Squad Leaders, or even the Commander himself.
Step 3: Return to the GCorp Labtech to receive your reward.
Notes: This is a repeatable quest with a CL cap of 6.1. On occasion you will get a ring as a reward instead of orbs.

The Vox Stellarum (Prerequisite: ??)
Step 1: Speak with the True Believer, George, to accept the quest.
Step 2: The True Believers know that the scouts in the woods, east of the burrows, are using communicators to report back to their commanders. They believe that these communicators might be the key to deciphering the pup language so they can negotiate a peace instead of war. Attack the predator pups until you get one of the communicators.
Step 3: Return to George to receive your reward.
Notes: This is a repeatable quest with a CL cap of 6.1. When in the right area you should get a message that tells you whether or not you got a communicator. This means when you kill one of the pups it'll either say you didn't or you did. If you aren't getting those messages, make sure you are near or in the trees.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/PrediPrairiePup.pngPredator Prairie Pup: These aliens burst forth from the Star Portal when it activated, and now they're stranded here. Similar to ET, they're somewhat cuddly looking. However, unlike ET, they're packing heat, which affects both Animated and normal living things alike. They can attack from both close and far ranges.

You'll want to watch out for faint blurs on your screen, since they're always using their active camoflauge when not attacking, and it's unlikely that you'll ever find one by itself. You can target them with autolocking (use the ~ key), but this will only display one of them at a time, and it's easy to get disoriented in a majestic plume of laser fire.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/squadleader.pngPredator Squad Leader: You'll either find these white-colored soldiers leading a pack of pups, or in a group of three squad leaders. They're slightly tougher than pups, and they prefer to use their claws. Lasers aren't entirely out of the equation, though.

HP: 3876
Drops: Charge Orb, Fauxskin, Wetware Plastic
Recipes: Alien Raygun

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/tinyterror.pngTiny Terror: Normally, they stick to the Otami ruins, but the recent disturbance of the predator prairie dogs intruding their environment has angered their tribe, and a constant stream of Tiny Terrors can be seen pouring out of the trees next to the start of the climb up to the Aqueduct's null crystal. Further south of their spawn point, a crazed battle for supremacy is constantly being waged between the aliens and the voodoo dolls. It's amusing to watch, and a well equipped crew can also take advantage of the carnage by picking off the stragglers.

They won't bother you as long as you stay out of their sight. However, they're also weaker than the ones in the Ruins, and they don't come in groups unless you stick around for too long.

Step 3: Return to Jerry for your reward.
Notes: Once at the cliffs go right and Mika should be on the area overlooking the waterfall. Make sure you walk slowly. Mika gets easily distracted and if you are too far ahead she'll go back to the cliffs.

Step 2: Locate Peter at the True Believer's clearing in the Old Aqueduct and convince him to leave the clearing. George will be waiting just outside the clearing to return him to Barton Town.
Step 3: Return to Jerry in Otami Ruins once Peter has been convinced to return with George to Barton Town.
Notes: George doesn't always work. You may need to switch servers several times to find a working George. If none are working you will have to wait for the next server reset.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Barton Regulars Armor

Around the Blood Tree
Step 1: Speak with Blaze to accept the quest.
Step 2: Walk around the Blood Tree. (When you are in the area where you can see the trunk of the Blood Tree simply just walk around the trunk without moving to a new box, until you get the red message confirming you have finished this step)

Step 1: Speak with Blaze to accept the quest.
Step 2: Speak to Rin and Lin on the sacred cliffs in the west of Otami Ruins and do what they ask (In other words, do their first 3 quests).
Step 3: Return to Blaze behind the tree line in Otami Ruins after you finished and turned in The Stone Coatl quest.
Notes: After this you should head back to Jacques at the Lighthouse to learn more about where to find Blaze's Father.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Otami Loincloth, Aiding the Twins Badge

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/NPC/20.pngMerit in the Eyes of the Spirits (Prerequisite: Started Talk to Rin and Lin)
Step 1: Speak with Rin to accept the quest.
Step 2: Lin's voice speaks in your mind unexpectedly. "Seek out the Feathered Coatl and find one of their tail plumes as the totem for that creature. I will know when you have it and will speak to you again about the next totem."
Step 3: Lin echoes in your mind: "The Tiny Terrors carry spears with which they torment the living. Bring one of their spear heads to us as their totem."
Step 4: Lin speaks to you in your mind: "The Unliving known as the Bladed Vases sometimes contain a spirit of their combatitiveness in the shape of a Mace Head. Bring that with you when you return."
Step 5: Lin speaks to your mind: "The most coveted of the totems of the Unliving is the Jeweled Eye of the Mask of Death and Rebirth. Fight them until you find one of those totems and bring it to us with the others."
Step 6: Return to Rin and Lin with the offerings you have gathered.
Notes: The steps must be done in this exact order. Keep checking your PDA if you are unsure of what step you are on.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Otami Feather Cloak

The Gauntlet (Prerequisite: Completed Merit in the Eyes of the Spirits)
Step 1: Speak with Rin to accept the quest.
Step 2: High atop the cliffs above the ruins, you must find the idol of Chaloc, touch it, and then survive the Rain Spirit's Gauntlet.
Step 3: Return to Rin now that you have survived the Gauntlet to find out what you must next do to appease the Spirits.
Notes: You'll want to have some defensive and speed buffs on when you touch the statue, then run back to the entrance after the red message comes up. You can stay and attack the Animated that spawn after you touch the statue, but be warned, the Spirit Vases can pretty much 1-hit you. They do move slowly so if you want race a few maps up and start attacking the Masks, Coatls and Witch Doctors that spawn. Also because the masks have a quicksand effect you'll want most people in your party bringing scaredy cat rings. Try to stick together as much as possible and kill any masks you can't scare off so that no one in the party stays stuck. Once you get back to the Cliffs entrance you will have survived the Gauntlet.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Otami Grieves

The Stone Coatl (Prerequisite: Completed The Gauntlet)
Step 1: Speak with Lin to accept the quest.
Step 2: Defeat the avatar of Chaloc in pitched battle within the Throne Room of the Otami.
Step 3: Return to Lin now that you've defeated Chaloc's avatar to receive your just rewards.
Notes: Initially upon entering the throne room you will get a moment to attack a few creatures that spawned before the Stone Coatl will warp you to it. You'll want to focus mostly on defeating the Coatl, as when it dies everything else that spawns in the chamber will die with it.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Spear of Chaloc, Recipe: Club of Huitzotl, or Recipe: Obsidian Maqhuitl (randomly rewards one of the three)

Serving the Spirits...Again (Prerequisite: Completed The Stone Coatl)
Step 1: Speak with Rin to accept the quest.
Step 2: Go to the High Cliffs once again, cross the bridge and touch the idol of Chaloc. When the Gauntlet begins, escape with your life to successfully complete this step.
Step 3: Go back to the Otami Throne Room and destroy the Unliving usurper that controls the sacred statue of Huitzotl.
Step 4: Return to Rin and Lin to receive your rewards.
Special Rewards: Recipe: Otami Headdress and Recipe: Spear of Chaloc, Recipe: Club of Huitzotl, or Recipe: Obsidian Maqhuitl (randomly rewards one of the three weapons)

Step 3: Return to Blaze for your reward.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/tinyterror.pngTiny Terror: These things are shrunken heads that have sprung back to life, sharing the same headhunter mentality that they fell prey to long ago. Their attacks and HP are nothing to write home about, but they usually travel in groups and are very good at swarming like fire ants. You can't really travel more than three screens in any direction without bumping into a few of these at every step in the ruins.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/tinywitch.pngWitch Doctor: They're distinguished from normal Tiny Terrors by their purple garb. Unlike Tiny Terrors, they can throw their spears pretty far, which are tipped with a poison that temporarily slows you down. This wouldn't be too dangerous if it weren't for the fact that almost all of them normally patrol in the Blood Tree area with four other Tiny Terrors. Combined with their high HP and their astonishing respawn rate, unprepared people can be easily overcome by the wrath of a small army of spear-wielding maniacs.

The Witch Doctors that spawn in the Cliffs will have a higher HP.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/feathered.pngFeathered Coatl: They used to be statues, but now they're flying snakes. Imagine that. Well, you don't have to: they guard the lake area, the climb to the gauntlet, a certain treasure box, and the entrance to the west side of the cliffs area.

In addition to being able to fly over any obstacle, they can push you backwards slightly, which is then compounded by the fact that they only spawn in groups, and a flock of these things can shove you all the way across a screen if you don't take them down fast.

The Feathered Coatl's that spawn in the Cliffs will have a higher HP.
HP: 266-278+

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/vase.pngBladed Vase: This is one antique that you're going to have a tough time taking to an appraisal. They guard the temple and when you approach they'll begin spinning wildly with their blades outstretched.
HP: 274-285

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/mask.pngMask of Death and Rebirth: With a name as long as that, you know these things are tough. And they are. They're smart enough to attempt to stay out of melee range; they fire lasers out of their eyes, and they're hella tough. In addition to that, they have three different attacks depending on their form, which changes as you wear them down. There's your standard LAZOR BEEM that shoves you pretty far back, a constant spray of shots that eats away at your HP, and a poisonous gas that paralyzes you so you can't move to attack them at close range if you're too slow to get up in their grill. That last one's pretty nasty....you'll want to close the distance as soon as one sees you.

They'll show up if you happen to cross a staircase that they're guarding. And they guard most of the staircases. So be wary when you cross one. There's also one that guards the temple entrance, and three particularly strong ones that sit in a row below the staircase to the Gauntlet. And don't think that you can snipe them from the staircase: they hover, so they'll basically be able to float over anything that's between you and them.

The Masks that spawn in the Cliffs will have a higher HP.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/stonecoatl.pngStone Coatl: The Avatar of Chaloc is the big daddy of everything in the ruins. Similar to a heavy metal concert, it's got your standard MEGA DETH LAZOR ATTACK and PRETTY UNCOMFORTABLE FIRE BREATH, and it's also got the ability to pull you within its reach should you try to stay away from it. Somewhat a blessing in disguise, though....you'll never have to worry about being out of melee range.

The fixtures in its lair also spout a neverending stream of enemies (simulating what could be perceived as a mosh pit), so be sure to stay out of range of that blasted death mask and shake off the rest with a little Dervish lovin. As soon as the giant snake dies, so do they, so try to focus on slaying it. Also, the door slams shut as soon as you enter, so there's no way out until you win or die.

There are two crates just to the right when you first enter. There is also a chest on the second area of the Ledge and then a Locker on the third area.

To continue on to the Sealab Compound you need to kill the Grunny Sub Commander. He will have a combination that will open the locker and then if you head into the cave you will then have access to the Sealab.

Sealab Compound

Description: As you walked through the Underwater Ledge, you will have glimpsed the center of the Sea Lab Compound. But to get there you must first face the dangerous and rather scary Robofish. Don't let the Giant Octopus in the background distract you, it's too busy eying everyone in the Shallow Seas. After you get past the deadly Robofish, you'll find a short passage and then you will finally gain access to the central compound.
CL: 8+ (Area is scaled to the highest CL in your party. You need at least 3 people in your crew to reach the very end)
Comments: The last three areas are instanced. The number of animated that spawn is also based on your crew size. The bigger your crew, the more there is to kill.

What do you do?!

Now that you find yourself in the Sealab, what do you do? Simple answer is, go fight stuff.

Follow all the paths until you get inside the actual compound. Everything up into the compound is simple, keep moving and fighting, there is only one direction to move.

What do you do to face the boss?

Check the Spoilers Section to the End-of-Chapter. First two paragraphs tell you how to get into the Boss Room. But may be a bit spoilerish. wink

If you don't want any spoilers.... just explore the whole map and make sure you flip the three switches (which excludes the center one) at the same time. Flip the center one after and head into the final room for the best surprise of all.

http://shugotenshi.net/bria/zguide/Animated/robofish.pngRobofish: The tangled masses of shipwrecks have come back to haunt their dark, watery graves. These rusty anglerfish aren't visible except for a old-fashioned ship's lantern, up until the point where you walk right into their ambush, and they start getting all OMNOMNOM on ya, usually in pairs or triples. They're pretty well armored, but not particularly dangerous outside of that.

Recipe: Null Fluff Plushie
Recipe: Sinister Scarf
Recipe: Mechlab Bot
Recipe: Crystal Fluff Plushie

Spoiler Alert!!!!!!

All information below is white texted. Highlight to read if you want to know the End. Be warned, it's something that I just threw together real quick to appease those that want more info and isn't going to really help you beat the game at all, which at the current moment is extremely difficult due to certain issues with regen.

Once you have passed the first two areas of the compound grounds, you'll find yourself within the main compound area. Then you'll need to head directly North. You'll encounter a certain Labtech 123, whom you should have met earlier in the compound. Chat it up with him. Then fight more Labtechs, Seacycles and Grunny Subs (warning: killing some Grunny Subs will bring the Nexus patrol on you, they are many).

You need to continue wandering around the compound clearing the area up to and around all three switches (there are four total but you need three in specific). The switches look like double-sided lamps. I'll mark the three switches on a map soonish. But there is one up on the wreckage (you need to go directly west from the entrance to the main compound). There is one in front of the area where Labtech123 was standing. The third switch you need can be found by going west as far as you can from Labtech 123 and then as far south as you can from there. You'll want to clear out all the areas first as a crew, nothing should respawn. Then if you have six people, put two at each switch just in case you accidentally mess up the switches.

Next, have someone in the crew do a count, either up or down, but make sure those flipping the switch are aware of what number to flip on. You do have a bit of leeway, but you need to try and flip all three as close as possible to kill the alarm. Then head back towards the center, where the center tower is with a switch in front of it. You can flip this switch at anytime now.

Hang out in front of the door until everyone is ready to go in. Once everyone is ready, walk in. You'll be going through some dialogue with Labtech X. If you aren't already buffed, now is the time to do it.

Labtech X will summon his giant animated, which well... you may notice isn't completely animated.

First you face the Tail, be warned Commander Grunny Subs spawn during this phase of the boss.

Next you face the Body, Left Arm, and Right Arm. The Arms shoot missiles, so you'll want to focus on one arm and then the other. The Head shoots a massive killer lazer out of it, so avoid hitting it until you are ready. This means you may need to avoid using AoE attacks or the lazer will start firing and give your party extra damage it doesn't need to take yet.

Finally you'll face the head. Deathmines will randomly fly down from the ceiling at this time. You can destroy them with distanced attacks. Make sure you aren't near the mines when they light up, you'll get a few seconds warning before the blow and they are painful if you are too close.

Once you kill the head, you'll be transported to the Barton Bar. Logan along with other NPCs that are normally there will be there to congratulate you. Talk to Logan and go through all the Dialogue. You'll talk to all the NPCs there. Once you are done with the Dialogue you'll be granted one of the four recipe rewards (assuming you haven't beat the boss more than four times)

Victory! - Congratulations! With the the heroic defeat of Labtech X and his gargantuan Sealab X prototype Gaia is once again safe. For now... (Highlight to read description, contains Spoilers)

Map: Null Crystal Locations

This is a special underground area. If you want to charge your rings or switch what rings you want to wear, this is the place to go.

If you get dazed, you will head to the null chamber. Of course if you are crewing and someone has a Defibrillate ring they can revive you right where you are standing.

The Null Chamber can also be used as a personal chauffeur. If you've touched the Null Crystals located on various maps you will become attuned to them and once inside the Null Chamber you can teleport to any location where you've visited the crystal. The only Null Crystal you don't need to touch is the Village Greens as you will automatically be attuned to it.

Crystals can be found in:
Village Greens
Bill's Ranch
Zen Gardens
Bass'ken Lake
Gold Beach
Old Aqueduct

While its not recommended to enter an area above your Charge Level (CL), there are a few of the crystals you can reach without encountering any aggressive animated. Do note that because the gates in Barton are locked to you if you aren't a high enough CL level for the area, but most areas can be reached through other maps, but you will often have to walk through areas with high aggro monsters to get there.
