Eight and a half hours of wipes. I'd just finished another BL when my friend Meebo'd me with instance and asked me if I could tank. I said sure, but warned her we'd probably wipe. And oh, how we did.

It wasn't until after I learned that if you don't have Integrity you should use fleet method. gonk

The second time was yesterday and it was on a g-glitched server (so does it count? xD). Two wipes, the first because I didn't grab aggro well enough and the second because I accidentally moved into her aoe range. After that it went pretty smoothly, though.

I've heard Fleet method is like training wheels, and it is. Tanks used to do Lust without SR and being slept well before, integ is the same difference. Taking SR opened new doors for those tankers without integ. That should never be an excuse to make it harder on your crew.

That being said: I learned how to tank, without SR, and with the Tape Method. Like even when first form was tapeable. I was very proud of myself that day, though to be honest it had helped I had tons of BU experience and knew what to watch for and had had amazing tanks perform and to learn from. I tanked Lust before I event tanked YR too.

I feel like if fleet is considered training wheels then wouldn't SR also be considered training wheels? I think Turtle or Fortune's Favor is more training wheel-esque. (Though turtle can still be a life-saver depending on the crew)

Bringing fleet is just a less convenient way for people who don't have Integrity to do what others can do easier.

Well you only need two, three if you want to be cautious. When I do it I'll bring one fleet myself and assign one to someone else. You can look at it like bringing back a knifer and having them keep it up. (Except it's 30 seconds vs 45)

I vaguely recall a friend saying she doesn't need to restore Ghi for sleep unless it goes below 75 or so, so at cl12 I'm pretty sure even an rr2 fleet is enough to not get slept.

If you're tanking without Integrity I think having fleet does reduce strain if the alternative is dealing with the tank being slept throughout the whole fight. Especially now that having to deal with a sleeping tank is not the norm.

If I recall correctly, at CL 12 an r3 fleet is enough because it provides the same willpower boost as Integ.

Yeah, that boosts you up from 1008 -> 1044 which is what you would have with integ.
With ghi at about 75 (and integ) you're willpower is at about 1030 (which is possibly still safe from the sleep zone) so an r2 fleet which gives +24 at cl12 I believe should be enough.

If it works it would be nice to not have to waste as much rage/worry about not having enough come time to fleet again.

This is assuming you've got the Major Willpower ghi boost, 100 ghi and cl 12 fleet.

First of all, I don't tank [in any area] very often because I don't particularly like being responsible for whether the entire crew lives or dies. >x<;;

Next, that was a no-Bats glitched server. ^^;; So I had it a bit easy. X: Wiped once, but that was because I was being stupid and not using Turtle even though I brought it with me. =w=;;

Oh, and don't try going to that join.me link. XD It's long gone and join.me sucks now anyway.

I took EXTENSIVE notes (like a crazy scientist) while on that run. The next day my close friends and I went for it again. I tanked it and won, wiping at least twice (didn't have major willpower or major dodge boosts). xD
(which explains my reaction in the picture below, well that and being able to keep a pet bat. ^^)
