How did your first tanking go? emotion_kirakira I remember mine clearly. xD I even have a screenshot to record the fail.

First tanking ever, I just went out there and yolo'd it. xD I was looking at guides from Omni while trying to figure out how to get the position just right, just didn't work. sweatdrop Then I had another opportunity and I tanked Kam completely and no wipes, in just 30 minutes. emotion_kirakira

For the first couple of times that I did try, I failed. Like three or four times in a row before I finally got it down.

Everytime I would fail, I'd pass the instance over to Omni, and go QQ in the corner somewhere. It was so awesome when I finally succeeded for the first time, and started getting even better.

I had 2 awesome people (Bearman George and Mastermind_BTG) who were excellent BU and BUBU who helped me a ton with bats, guiding me, and keeping us all alive.
no wipes either. ♥

Hmm... that was a while ago- there weren't any specific guides at the time. I remember getting some typed advice about positioning over Skype & that was about it. Funnily enough, nobody, including the people in the crew, some of who had previous BL experience thought to tell me about the fact that bats came from the right, and my first time tanking was my first time in BL.

Needless to say, it wasn't overly successful. No screenies, but it's certainly been imprinted on my brain.

Gradually, by talking to other tanks & speaking to my crew members, I managed to develop a strategy which was consistently successful. It took time though- it's not something that you should expect to be able to do straight away.

Being able to tank Kam is partially about having a really good crew supporting you who understand what they need to do. It doesn't really matter how talented a tank you are, if you have people who don't listen, or are spacey, it makes your life a lot harder, or even impossible. The fact that these days nearly everyone tends to have all rings in their sets at 12 makes life much less of a headache, along with the absence of bats (RIP bats).

I've heard Fleet method is like training wheels, and it is. Tanks used to do Lust without SR and being slept well before, integ is the same difference. Taking SR opened new doors for those tankers without integ. That should never be an excuse to make it harder on your crew.

That being said: I learned how to tank, without SR, and with the Tape Method. Like even when first form was tapeable. I was very proud of myself that day, though to be honest it had helped I had tons of BU experience and knew what to watch for and had had amazing tanks perform and to learn from. I tanked Lust before I event tanked YR too.

Yeah, none of us had tanked before and there was only one person with a lot of BL experience at any given time.

I feel like if fleet is considered training wheels then wouldn't SR also be considered training wheels? I think Turtle or Fortune's Favor is more training wheel-esque. (Though turtle can still be a life-saver depending on the crew)

Bringing fleet is just a less convenient way for people who don't have Integrity to do what others can do easier.
