Blocking orb spills is surprisingly helpful especially during Shallow Seas. The orb counter glitch has been fixed (mostly) so simply watching the top bar is effective.
Being that it's identified as ".../monsters/orb.swf", I believe she was referring to the 'enemy' that appears during the Orb Spill mini-event - I imagine the event gets considerably more difficult if you can't see what you're aiming at. Blocking the actual orb drops would be another thing entirely, I suspect... sweatdrop

This is the filter I use to block the orbs that fly at you (which is what I thought you were referring to) but doesn't affect the orb spill. It does block the image in your inventory and the orbs visible under the loot tab of your ring bag.
