yeah I totally understand xD I mean most people suggest crazy over powered things, There was one set I heard along time ago which was the pizza set LOL that was so funny xD they were saying how the pizza delivery guy in Barton was giving away quests to get the pizza set rings, for people who beat the EB xD one ring I'd like would probably be the twin blade one if there was such a thing, just cause it fits my avi I guess haha, it would go slightly faster then slash, slower then mantis, and have a slight dodge debuff :3and use around the same stamina as Slash would :3 but only target one enemy at a time to balance things out :3

Questing for : (quest started in may of 2008 )
My quest is for 1K hug PM's ! 619/1000 hugs

A Hug a day keeps the doctors away! ^_^
For people who think they kill threads,
we don't kill them, we finish them! lol

Ya, I have a mutant set that I am really fond of and the obligatory shadow dragon set that I would love to get. What is funny is how much I worked to make sure they weren't ridiculously overpowered. But pretty much everybody says that so it is just another spit in the ocean when suggesting ring ideas. At least this suggestion is relatively unique enough to not feel overdone and hopefully useful.

Any tree can drop an apple...
speaking of that, I was looking through the guides sticky, and there was no guide on how to get Ghi abilities...
That's another problem. Ghi abilities are seemingly random. I'm CL10 and I still mostly have minor buffs.
I'll drop the freaking moon!

You get them by having your ghi meter full and fighting in crews. It is how I have major buffs.

<snip out repeat of repeat rant which I already understand perfectly well>

Perhaps skills could be added later to augment the Ghi idea I have such as special effects and whatnot, but that should still be accessible to all characters instead of forcing people to equip skills, which is against the entire premise of my passive skill idea in the first place.

For your "Cookie Cutter" concern to happen, they would have to max all skills and use the same rings. The skills would represent an investment, one that you can choose to specialize in. However once you get past your goal, you can keep going and get the rest. Variety comes from ring use, primary skill goals, and simple panache'...

Make yourself special. neutral
Four points.

1) Players are already forced to equip skills. They're called rings

2) That was... kinda my point. I was merely proposing that there may be a way to prevent the cookie-cutter situation. Though evidently the one suggested is not it.

3) Lord knows I'm trying.

4) While I appreciate the sentiment, your add on seems to complicated things a bit. Don't go ruining your good idea on my account. I'll figure out something.. once I get this accursed Binary Search Tree homework done.

Only point I need to respond to is...
1. Yes but we don't equip Ghi and thus why shouldn't have to equip its direct replacement while an add on would be justified as equippable.

Actually my add on was something I thought of this morning while talking to Rafa but was reminded of your thoughts too so you deserved credit.

See Ghi needs replaced by something reliable but that doesn't mean we should miss the opportunity to specialize. Hell this skill idea has a better chance of getting developer attention than any ring thread does, so why not go for the gold? I have a better chance of the skills and special skills getting noticed than I do ANY of my ring ideas. So why the hell not? The developers will just take what they want and leave the rest anyway. *shrugs*

Hm. How abouts we calls them Ghi abilities, and ring skills. Clarifies everything.

It just seems that earning additional Ghi abilities, and then super Ghi abilities which have restricted slots seems... a tad extreme for a game you're not exactly supposed to spend weeks playing.

Fine, fine. I will go call them Passive Abilities.

As for your time issue, it is a non issue really. Those that don't want to spend the time can ignore them. You don't need ghi to beat the game, rings do plenty. I'm simply offering something more reliable that those of us who do spend the time here can use.

Case in point, the game didn't take weeks and won't take weeks but... We are all still here.

So it's a feature for completionists, who are outside the target demographic for zOMG! ?

I'd say (in stark contrast to earlier posts) leave the Ghi Abilities as you had them, and we figure out a different method to applying specialisation.

Like say, what if each ability had an additional effect, which had to be equipped to trigger. You'd always have the basic effect, and then you could pick and mix from the "advanced" effects.

Kinda like the idea you have up now, but it's just less Ghi abilities, I think. Unless I read your idea wrong D:

*facepalm*

The base abilities are available to everybody all the time once leveled. Specialization is something you pick on the side thus not directly tied to the base abilities.

*headdesk*

That's pretty much what I said, except that to an extent my idea is that they should be tied to the base abilities.

Think of it like, you've all these abilities, then you can pick ones that you want to put under a magnifier.

I know it is what you said, I facepalmed because it's been like that in my idea all along. I technically already had magnification in there since I stated that some of the special abilities would be enhancements on the basic stats.

Ahn. Then my last sentence applies.

Unless I read your idea wrong D:

I was under the impression that the equippable ones had to be levelled seperately D:

Oh, that is the impression. I don't see why special skills/abilities should be free. Especially since my method allows for a ton of different effects as well as stat enhancement.
