Here's a question from the outfield DWN:

Should orb drop rates be increased to accomodate the new system?

Nope. As is, you can get to CL 10 with relative ease, orb farming is ridiculous when you take into account boss drops and the overall scaling of drops as you go.

It would be overkill to increase orb drops since we get tons of orbs now.
... Sure.

It's not like I'm struggling to complete my collection >.<;

Crew up... Or let my idea go into place. You can have your luck go up and get more of what you need. sweatdrop

Glad you agree Divine.
It's a combination of trying to find a crew that doesn't suck horrifically, and finding the time in amongst homework and lag surges.

Unfortunately there isn't a fix for idiots that I am allowed to discuss...

So any other thoughts?
What sort of scope did you have in mind for the abilities?

Like, create a whole range of them, but are only allowed say... 3 active at once?

Entirely passive. Don't have to select or equip once purchased. You just improve them and they work.

Basically like how our Ghi works right now when you have it full and it stays full. It just is, thus an actually passive skill set. As for scope, I am thinking at least as many boosts as we get from Ghi right now with options for more later depending on how the Developers want to do it. Having passive skills and rings could make for a lot of variety in skill and playing style if they get creative on balancing the two.

You will never "use" a skill, it is a constant boost that you can upgrade or purchase. It doesn't do anything until purchased.
Guess that works well enough.

I was kinda hopin' for some customisability to come from it though.

... You pick what you buy first and when. You don't have to buy the rest...

Picking only a certain group at a time would just be specialization and a rehash of your legend system. I am talking about skills you CHOOSE to buy. If you want to specialize, then don't get the other skills. You are never forced and there is plenty of customization to be had.

What you are talking about is specialization. My system is customizable... Considering the whole Player Choice and everything. stare
Is there really a difference between specialisation and customisation in this case?

It's certainly customisable.. right up until you have enough orbs to level everything, then you're back to cookie-cutter.

Then you defeat the point of the ring system in the first place. I'm talking about a skill system while you apparently want a class system. Let alone that getting all the skills would be a task in and of itself.

Specialization is basically picking a class thus padding replay value by forcing people to make a new account to play with different skills. While I do like games with defined classes, this game was meant to let you use rings to develop your own style. I'm simply talking about picking what skills you want to level first, which is just as customizable, if not more so, than your specialization idea, since my idea allows you to level up as many skills as you can afford while you want them to stick to a limited number of skills at a time.

Think of this like Oblivion. You will always have your style of play, even what your main skills are but you can always level up those other skills for a change of pace. The idea here is to replace Ghi with something dependable, not invent a class system. neutral

Besides, I want rings to bring variety, the skills are here to update the idea of Ghi.

Interesting, my first thought when you mentioned a class system was "Oh ******** no".

And... I'm not really sure how making them function like well.. bonus passive-only ring slots would really gimp what the game set out to do, but sure. *shrug* It's your idea.

... Um, it would replace Ghi with something only a fraction of good but constant. That is a gimp, even if it is constant. That doesn't improve the Ghi system, it gimps it.

.. Wha?

Gimping has nothing to do with G'hi. It was the ring system D:
