But how many orbs would it take to level up a G'hi boost to its utmost ability?

Not really my call to make since I don't know the equation they use to calculate Ghi growth in the first place. Basically I lack a time in crew/Ghi increase to Orb conversion figure.

I think it should be around the same amount of orbs it takes to get a ring to C.L. 10.(400 something orbs?)
450 to get a CL 1.0 ring to CL 10.

I'm actually for making it double that... Being that you don't have to equip them for them to work.
I heartily approve of adding orbs for this purpose, will slow down the speed at which people race through the game. As annoying as it can be though, having the incentive to crew is, in my opinion, good overall since it promotes team playing. Considering the game is intended to be unsoloable for the average player, particularly at the end, this would lead to even worse crew skills. Basically, my point simply is that the g'hi system should be updated, not replaced with this idea completely.

Agreed. 3 runs of SS can help upgrade 'em.

Here is the thing, any kind of coercion, passive or not, isn't going to make good crew members. As it stands, ghi just rewards you for having warm bodies.

Here is the other thing, this system puts it on the player to learn. They make decisions that affect their growth directly. They have to learn how to manage their orbs for their best success for what works for them. A number of games successfully encourage social playing without gimp measures to shame the player with lack of personal power if they don't have enough warm bodies in their crew.

I love crewing, I love having people to back me up. That is a personal preference though. I choose to get together with my friends but when I can't find enough friends or don't deal with idiots, I am shamed by the game via the Ghi system telling me that I am nowhere as good as I am with five other people. That is ******** annoying. Let alone having to watch that damn Ghi meter bleed away as I get away from Barton. Hell, you lose 1 Ghi almost before you reach that VG Null from Barton.

Besides, as you stated, my idea would slow leveling thus taking longer to move along thus adding time to the experience. Wisdom does come with age, after all.

I am kinda curious how people would think it unfair, orbs aren't hard to get at all. You personally decide which stats to raise. Hell, you could level luck first and get even more orbs to level the others and rings. I suppose somebody would always complain about something.

So the Ghi thing is explained in Barton. Alrighty then, thanks for clearing that up. biggrin

Aw, maybe I should correct that then, maybe most people would think it's fair but, I know I wouldn't want to spend the orbs on a brand new account towards a buff that would keep ghi up.

But, then again I don't really care if my ghi is at 100 or 0. (Sad I know) You are right though orbs are really easy to get. Therefore pretty much expendable.

Also, how do you get the map to load that fast? I always lose at least 5 ghi before I get through the gates of Barton. xD (Doesn't matter which gate I use either)

Just a decent DSL connection I suppose. I also make sure that nothing big is running besides YIM and Firefox when I play. I have had slower days where I lose more than 1 just going through the gates.
I know you're probably expecting me to disagree with you... but I'm not going to =O

I like the idea.

+150 of a stat for the Major boosts is... huge. Denying that bonus to people who solo (or hell, stay in crews of two or three) is really lame. If it was maybe, +50 maximum, it wouldn't be a huge deal (just keep fitness on). But 100 and 150 is a lot. I know that the game is supposed to encourage crewing, but this is an excessive penalty (even more so than non-scaling boss instances, in my opinion.)

However, I actually really did like the idea that leveling up ghi boosts was based primarily on time. I would prefer that the system stay the same (or similar), but ghi would essentially remain at 100% at all times.

That's just my opinion, though. The orb idea isn't a bad one. I wouldn't dislike it if it were implemented. But my main complaints about the ghi boosts are that you must be in a crew of four or greater to maintain them (kind of a lame way to punish people for going solo or in small crews) and that the boosts are so substantial (that wouldn't really be an issue if you had them at all times, though).

I would be excited for this if it were implemented (despite having all my major boosts Dx)

Thanks Taylor though while I understand your position of time, I rather like the manual earning of skills. It's one of those game cliche's that is cliche' for a reason because it works so damn well. It also gives player's control over their own growth which breeds responsibility.

The thing that really bugs me is the bleeding off of Ghi. In a game, when you start losing power at a steady rate, the instinctive reaction is a ticking clock thus creating a sense of urgency where they wanted to just push you towards crewing.

We also seem to agree about crew size, I've wasted a ******** of time waiting for other crew to show up so we could have proper amounts of Ghi when I could have just had two people I trust and we move on. Why we didn't is because we wanted to maximize our power and that just ended up with us waiting... and waiting... and waiting... and not playing the game.

The best crewing I know is Me, SykoCaster, and Arkyron. I know other greats but those two are part of my dream team and are the first on my mental list when I look for people. I shouldn't feel coerced to try and grab a couple more people to get more bang for our buck.

Hmm, minute by minute I'm growing fonder of the orb idea...

Careful, next we will agree about other things... DUN DUN DUNNNNNNnn!!!!
the idea has great possibility's

about incorporating the idea in to ghi could be done easy bi allowing you to buy whit orbs different ghi skills and then equipping a set number of them and in order to get the major ghi boost you most spend time whit your current ghi boost .

and i have to agree i hate how fast the ghi bar drains up it be cool if it could let you at the least stop the ghi depletion if there is some one in the same screen as you are and slowly regen if there is 2 or more having 6 regenerate at almost the same speed as barton.

or better yet have the stats always and to encourage crewing the player would have to be whit others in order to level the buffs up then buy new ones whit orbs replace the already leveled ones and keep crewing to level the new buffs up the players could deside witch buffs to stick whit .

and if thats not enof have the ghi buffs stack whit other peoples buff wen crewing

edit:
then again that would make barton a lil useless , meavy have the ghi shop in barton
