When I tested it against a Brain Clam...

I got 90 for Hack, Mantis did 65. And unless my math is wrong... 90 > 65. Ergo, Hack > Mantis... damagewise at least.
When did you test this? Because I just tested it in stone coatl lair and mantis did 85 damage where as hack did 83.
This morning in the SS on Hard.

I could get a more exact time and date if you want, but unless they've cycled to servers with buggy code since then... (I was on Buzz Saw)

I cannot correspond with this information, i just finish testing hack n mantis, a couple minutes ago, mantis and slash dooo wayyyyyyy more dammage than hack at this point, bout 15 more damage thank hack, (tested on sea cycle)
Hmm. Maybe it's a curious case of the Coatl Room. Just a second...

EDIT: There we go. On Buzz Saw's GB now, and Hack did notably more than Mantis (~100 more, but I'm at C.L. 10.0)

EDITEDIT: Very curious. Mantis hit up 300+ damage just now too. Critical hits? x_x;;

I'll test this seriously tonight when I have some time. I have to go shopping now.

Still try going into stone coatl lair and fighting there. I first noticed it when fighting the final mask where my RR4 hack did 194 damage and my RR4 mantis did 220. Further fighting revealed that mantis was in fact doing more damage than hack against tiny witch doctors and masks (definitely) and perhaps feathered coatls.

P.S. I was also on buzz saw server.
Are your hack and mantis different CLs?

I logged onto zOMG today for the first time in a few days and the first nerf I noticed were bandage and diagnose. Bandage now healing 40 per tick rather than 50. At first I was a bit irritated but soon got over it. Then I noticed that you guys patched the mask safe zone glitch and again was a bit irritated but OK with it since it was a glitch. But now I see that hack does less damage than mantis? That is just not right. Hack uses twice the stamina and has twice the recharge time. Why is it now WEAKER than mantis? Hack has become a near useless ring just like the shark attack ring before it and bump is now the strongest ring in the game (I think). The only explanation that I can think of is that you are doing this to force us to buy powerups to get through the game but I personally am NOT going to buy any powerups until I can play zOMG and actually have fun. I really hope this nerf isn't permanent as it has really thrown off every sweeper strategy I've had due to it being focused around the brute force of hack.
...are they stupid. STOP TRYING TO ******** FIX ZOMG AND START MAKING A CHAPTER 2 ALREADY GAWD GAIA AND I BET NO ONES GONNA EVEN TRY TO PLAY CHAPTER 2 BECAUSE YOU ALREADY FAWKED UP #1

you cant start a ch.2 without ch.1 being in d adirection of ch.2, there nerfin n updating so we can b prepared for ch.2, i hear dis here on the forums, but even with this information brought before you, there ruining the balance of the game, making more difficult and in which case, making the stronger rings like moderate rings, ex. hack damage went from superb to strong, that was the strongest ring in the game, and now bumb is!?
I don't really understand what you're saying, but you can't trust any info on chapter 2 on the forums that doesn't come from a dev themself. All we can do is theorize about chapter 2. Nothing more.
it's null fragments all over again =/
you know, I get that the Devs are trying to iron out the game for it's release and trying to make a more balanced approach, but the unbalanced updates have made many people including myself not impressed...
.. from a great deal many perspectives it really does look like they're trying to force purchasing ring polishers and orb doublers as necessity

speaking about uneven and unbalanced updates.. I get they planned to nerf the rings and merf or balance others... but what annoys me more then anything else is that slipped up and accidently pushed the nerf without the balance and won't push or will wait to push the balance until next update

outside of bug removal, the downside to this is that the Devs only update major components every 23-34 days.. which means outside of the bugs resulting from the update this one-sided favouring will stay until the next update

therefore: myself & plenty others = not impressed

while I'm ranting... lets talk about Landshark
is it just me or is Landshark next to non-existent in Gold Beach now?

All my rings are CL 10 which means there is absolutely no room for error when it comes to CL.

We gotta remember, each particular ring does not do a set amount of damage. Ex. Consecutive Mantis at CL 7.0 did 95, 84, 103, 37 damage against a sand fluff (37 was the amount of hp left after the other 3 sets of damage)

the dammage i did for hack a just a few seconds ago was: 107,98,146,91,121 (sea cycle X2)

and for mantis was:114,107,116,159,98,191 (sea cycles X2)

I really hope it balances out (make hack have a faster cooldown or use less stamina) otherwise I'll quit zOMG earlier than expected. As for lanky, chances are that they released the lankyshark to see what the response would be just like the mini events and now that they know it works, they're gonna make him an extremely rare appearance again.

Agreed thus my statement of "Perhaps the damage amounts were so close that the damage was overlapping in certain areas and I just happened to catch a bunch of the high mantisses and low hacks. Either way just the fact that mantis has the POTENTIAL to do more damage than hack is disturbing for me."

After I read this thread, I checked the rings stats. Hack is no longer superb just strong nearly equal to mantis and bump went from strong to moderate.

Hmm critical hits. I wasn't aware that they existed. BTW make sure that you're testing the rings in the same square, on the same animated as there are minor CL differences from square to square in areas.

If bump was nerfed as well, then that makes mantis the strongest ring in the game. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my mantis ring, but I don't think it's right that it's the strongest ring in the game considering how fast it is.
