It's beautifully written for the most part. Could have lived without the swearing.

I would love to know where you can get revives for 20k now. I would buy a bunch.

Here is my main issues with it. You are a forum assistant, therefore your colored named lends credence to the guide.

I can't tell you how many times I have people argue with me that I HAVE to take iron when I tank because Omni's guide says so. It is like Omni's guide was LAW. Now it will be this one, and Heaven help you if you decide to do it another way. People will be saying "but you can't do this or you have to do that because Aryvane's guide says so!"

So if you are one of the people who tells your crew anyone below 11 please take meat, or assigns knife now...our lives will be living hell again.

I may as well stop tanking for people because it won't be worth the hassle. sad

But I never told anyone they HAD to take iron. I recommended the tanker take it because it's non-raging and one of the buffs that will ruin a run if it falls and stays off if whoever has iron doesn't rebuff.

The people who think you HAVE to take iron as a tank are more the likely people who heard about it word-of-mouth.

As for this guide, it's ok generally speaking for YM, though it lacks nuance to account for level differences and doesn't really differentiate between areas.

I could see a crew of very low level people running into trouble. Also the tone of the guide is too dogmatic for my tastes. There's a difference in telling people one way to do things that works and telling them that you do it this way or you're an idiot.

so we should be responsible for the piranha (becky) being unable to resist biting? because we obviously didn't put trousers on with a piranha in them on purpose!

The trousers you put on - the terminology used - had a piranha - a problem - whether you realised they did or not; I'm not making the claim that it was done intentionally, because I legitimately believe it wasn't, but that doesn't mean it makes sense to blame the piranha for bititng you - after all, that's what piranhas do. In the same way that it's natural for a piranha to take a nibble, it's natural for people to get upset when identified with terms that bear negative connotations. It's not the piranha's job not to bite - it's your job to ensure it stays out of your trousers. At least assuming you care about mainting the integrity of their contents. redface

If one is sufficiently circumspect with their selection of trousers - wordings - one can generally confirm the lack of piranhas therein pretty effectively; again, I only think this was an accident, and I'm not attacking Ms. Aryvane therefor. That said, I've offered up a couple pairs of alternative trousers - wordings - in which I'm fairly confident there exist no piranhas, and in the interest of maintaining a community of trousers-sans-piranha, I would strongly advise her to try those on for size, or to find another pair of her own that would be similarly fetching... 3nodding

Thank you, and I appreciate both your advice and your strange metaphors.
The wording I have been working to change since it was brought up. 3nodding

we have the choice to accommodate just like becky has the choice to be mature and ignore the word's usage, and doing nothing is much easier than doing something!

the point i'm making is that becky chose to make it's usage a problem, then decided to be uncooperative to any sort of resolve thereafter

if she can't make light of the word, she shouldn't have associated herself with it in the first place

Oh I know you didn't say they had to, but human beings have long had the mind set of if it's in print it must be so! xd I used to take Div just to make sure it didn't fall. Since then I have gone to iron because it's the path of least resistance. I actually did have someone tell me the other day though that I HAD to take iron because Omni said the tank has to!

I also wholeheartedly agree with what you said that I put in bold. Everyone does things a bit differently...something I tell people I crew with who are confused about why I do this or so and so did that. I would never tell anyone their style is right or wrong as long as they are gettin the job done and no one is dyin.

I may not be supa pr0, but I must be doin something right because every time I log into Meebo people instantly pounce on me to tank or kite.

Okay I'd like to differ on some points here:
I. Hate. Bump. Especially when I'm tanking. Bump is usually fine when a person knows how to use it, but more often then not, they bump every single creature next to me. (As I'm tank, I even got an NF once burning_eyes ) I think HF is better. A bit weak yes, but still better.
I personally think that Meat is good for the 10s since every once in a while the tank will lose aggro on something and Meat is a good back up. Though if you are 11 and you still use Meat, you are a friggin' wimp emotion_donotwant
I also hate it when people bring Wish since raging is a hassle and for some damn reason the crew thinks that it's okay to heal me if my health is too low. DON'T HEAL THE DAMN TANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally, I think that you can easily tank without toggling your rings if you have enough monsters at you. I usually tank the whole room, which if you know how to do it, really keeps the aggro on you. Also, leave two vamps for NF. Best idea ever.

I prefer leaving one wolf ( two if I have SH on me emotion_dowant ) They hit harder, the hit they leave when I kneel is just perfect, and if the NF aggros ( which tends to happen if you let people amp and you don't amp as tank ) you don't have a vamp's AoE to worry over.

Vicious Prophet

Grue doesn't always strike between 1-3am GST. I've had Grues hit at 6pm and also at 4am.

I agree about the rest of this though, especially about listening to the tank. One dude I was tanking for tried to bring diagnose and insisted upon it and wouldn't switch. Insta-kick.

Thank you for reading!

Honestly speaking, it's not so much a guide as a study in differences,
so it's less telling people what they should do and more telling them
what advice they've heard is outdated or simply ineffective.

But I do suppose I could have been nicer about it. xD

Personally, I think the wolfs slow attacks are annoying for building aggro with an NF; the vamps fast recharge rate is better I find and more constant. I also hate kneeling.
I never let people in my crew amp. We always die if someone does amp and DPS all too well. XD
