Hi Gaians!

Are you an artist? Have you ever wanted your artwork featured on Gaia? If so, this is the contest for you!

----------What we're looking for---

We're looking for a bunch of new splash screens to mix them up with the already existing ones! What's a splash screen? It's the background displayed when transitioning areas in zOMG! There are generally 2 kinds of splash screens: one for new areas and one for mini boss lairs. Both are acceptable (examples below), but any zOMG related picture works. (Also, please don't add the area name, we'll do that).

----------A few Rules and Guidelines---

1. You have until May 31st to enter submissions.
   
   
2. Your submission has to be .png format and 2136x1110 pixels in size. The resolution should be 72 dpi. If scanning traditional art please be sure your submission is at 72 dpi, as most scanners default to to higher dpi. Here's a template.
   
   
3. Please e-mail your submissions as an attachment to [e-mail] along with your Gaia username.
   
   
4. Also post your submission as a response to this thread! (please reduce the size to 534x278 pixels before you post)
   
   
5. The artwork you submit must be your own original artwork. Collaborations are acceptable, but we will award only one prize and it is up to you how you split that prize. (We will reward the prize to the username first mentioned in the e-mail and let you figure the rest out yourself).
   
   
6. You can submit a picture of a mini-boss or just any picture related to zOMG (a group of Gaians fighting zOMG-monsters, or a picture with NPCs in their area for example).
   
   
7. Submissions must be under 10 MB in size. Our mail server won't let them through if they are any larger. So if your submission exceeds 10 MB make sure it is the correct resolution, that it is flattened, and that it is png format!
   
   
8. You can enter as many submissions if you like, but please remember: Quality > Quantity.
   
   
9. Make sure to read the legal disclaimer in the second post.
   
   
10. Submissions must not violate Gaia's Terms of Service or Rules & Guidelines.

----------Judges and Prizes---

The zOMG dev-team will be selecting three winners who will be awarded one of the following, fabulous prizes. In addition to that, their artwork will be featured in the game (we reserve the right of adding a few staff-pics as well):

• First Prize
  An Epic (ultra-rare) and, as of yet, unreleased zOMG! item.*
  
  
• Second Prize
  500,000 gold and a Sweetheart Ring (the limited edition cash-shop ring from last Valentine's day)
  
  
• Third Prize
  250,000 gold and a Fitness Ring.

* ----------- The item will be part of the upcoming new series of ultra-rare zOMG-items. They will be so rare that it'll take months to gather the needed ingredients, and the recipe-drop will be super low. In addition to that it will also require a large sum of gold to craft them. The winner will recieve a finished item (not just the recipe) before the new recipes become accessible in the game. Of course you're free to sell the item, but it'll be so fabulous that you'll want to keep it!

Can the splash pages involve Gaian avatars?
Yes, as long as the users shown have given their consent and no usernames are displayed.

Can we redo a current splash screen?
Yes, as long as your work is original.

What is digital art?
Art in a digital image format (ex: JPEG, PNG, PSD) that can be viewed on a computer and transmitted via e-mail.

Can the art be scanned traditional art?
Yes, you could scan traditional artwork and touch it up.

Can it be pencil or black and white art?
It sure can.

Can we display our art on deviant art as well?
Sure, as long as you don't offer it for sale.

Can we make a flash screen for the login page of zOMG?
No. The login screen is a movie clip, we're only looking for static art.

Can I sign my art?
You may sign your art, but please keep it discrete.

What is considered the age of majority?
In most of the US, 18.

Can I enter if I am under 18?
No, but if your parent or guardian is willing to submit your art for you we will credit you. Alternatively, you could work with someone who is over 18 and submit a collaborative piece.

What proof do we have to show that we are the age of majority?
If your art is selected to be shown in the game, we will contact you via email to confirm your age.

Will the artists be editing our submissions?
Some formatting changes may be required to prepare the image for use in zOMG!, but the content of submissions won't be edited.

Will credit be given?
Yes. The creators of any art used in zOMG! will be credited.

Can I enter more than once?
Yes, but keep in mind that only one submission per user can win. You may be better off focusing on the quality of one submission.

Is email the only way to submit an entry?
Yes. However, if your file is under 10 MB and you are still unable to send it, please upload it to a site like photobucket and email the direct link instead of the file.

zOMG! SPLASH SCREEN CONTEST

You must read these Official Rules before entering the zOMG! Splash Screen Contest ( the "Promotion" ). All entrants ( "Entrants" ) agree to be bound by these zOMG! Splash Screen Contest Official Rules ( the "Official Rules" ).

No purchase necessary. The Promotion is void where any aspect of the Promotion is prohibited by law or where registration, bonding or translation is required.

How to Participate/Eligibility. Starting at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), April 23rd, 2010, and continuing through 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), May 31st, 2010 ( the "Promotion Period" ), send submissions to [e-mail] via electronic mail.

Entrant must also supply a valid email address as part of the registration process and such other identification information as is requested. No entries will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), May 31st, 2010. Each Entrant must be an individual who is at least the age of majority in his or her jurisdiction of residence for the duration of the Promotion Period. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, shall determine the eligibility of Entrants and the time of entry.

Entries must adhere to the following requirements:
• Entries must be created in a simple, Gaia-compatible web-based format
• Entries must be original, and the entrant must have all rights necessary to submit the entry;
• Entries must not, in the sole discretion of the Sponsor, contain any sexually explicit, profane, disparaging, libelous or other inappropriate content; and
• Entries must not, in the sole discretion of Sponsor, contain any commercial content that promotes any product or service.

Sponsor reserves the right to reject any entry for any reason.

Employees, independent contractors, officers, and directors of Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, the judges, and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of such persons, are not eligible to win a prize in the Promotion.

By registering for or participating in the Promotion, Entrant agrees to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and any decision Sponsor or its designees make regarding any matters relating to the Promotion. Entrants who do not comply with the Official Rules are not eligible to compete or win a prize. All decisions made by Sponsor or its designees shall be final and binding. Finality of Decisions. All decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding in all matters relating to this Promotion.

Prizes. Winner will have his or her entry adapted by Gaia artists and turned into a zOMG! splash screen. First prize winner will be awarded a rare zOMG! item. Second prize winner will be awarded 500,000 Gaia gold and a Sweetheart Ring. Third prize winner will be awarded 250,000 Gaia gold and a Fitness Ring.

ALL COSTS NOT SPECIFICALLY ENUMERATED IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES (INCLUDING TAXES) ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.

Notification of Winner. Winner will be notified by email, phone and/or regular mail and may be required to sign and return an declaration of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, a publicity/liability release (unless prohibited by law), and any other requested documents within the time period stipulated in the documents. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in disqualification. Any notification returned as undeliverable may result in disqualification. In the event of a dispute about the identity of an Entrant, entries will be declared submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the email address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider or online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
