General Posting Guidelines

Please be sure to follow the Terms of Service and Rules and Guidelines here, as in all forums.

Common violations to avoid:

  • Flaming & trolling. Posts directed at another member which are hateful, abusive, or intentionally inflammatory are considered flaming. Making intentionally inflammatory or provocative posts to incite responses from other members is considered trolling.

  • Spam. Posts that are gibberish, off-topic, contain advertisements or begging, or have low or no content are considered spam. Please ensure that your posts are on topic and contain an appropriate amount of discussable content.

  • Bumping. Threads on the first page do not require bumping, and this forum can move more slowly than others. Please only bump if your question or request for assistance has gone unanswered and fallen off the first page of the forum. Excessive bumps may be deleted.

If you find Terms of Service violations, or threads that may need moved to a different forum, please use an appropriate report. The procedures for doing so can be found here.
You can find online moderators by following the "View Forum Moderators" link at the top of the forum.
Gaia Staff will NEVER ask for your password! If anyone asks you for your password, report it.
Rules & Guidelines for Posting, or How to Post in This Forum

This forum is for reporting bugs in Gaia's zOMG only. Any other games bugs should be reported in Game Bugs and site bug reports should be placed in Bug Reports & Technical Support.

The better the information you provide when reporting your difficulty, the more likely someone is to be able to help you with it. If it's a glitch on Gaia that needs to be fixed, more information can really help identify and solve a problem a lot faster as well. So here's a few tips...

Topic Names: Please follow standard naming format!

Format Example = Zone: brief description of issue
Example 1 = Barton Town: Gold grants aren't working
Example 2 = Village Green: Gnomes aren’t spawning

By including the zone in the game along with a brief description of your problem or the actual error message as the subject for the thread, it will be a lot easier for other users having the same problem to find your thread. This is important, since gathering information from several users experiencing the same difficulty can often help identify and solve issues much faster.

**Failing to follow the standard naming format will result in your thread being moved to the Recycle Bin or it will be renamed accordingly.**

Bug Report Format (info in your post)

The following is suggested information to include in your bug report. Providing this information will make it easier for Gaia Staff/Mods to isolate the issue.

  • The Bug
Try to explain in your problem detail.
    - where it happened
    - how did it happen
    - what were you doing when it happened
    - provide links if needed
    - screen shots can be very helpful

  • Operating System
Specify for the computer used when you experienced the issue.
    - Windows (95/98/98SE/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista),
    - Mac
    - Linux/Unix.
    - For more detailed definitions, please click this link.

  • Internet/Web Browser
The program/application in what you use to view gaiaonline.com.
    - Internet Explorer
    -Safari and many more.
-Not sure? Click this link and copy and paste the sentence that it says is your browser, such as: Mozilla/5.0

  • Flash version
The version of Adobe Flash Player you are using; if you are not sure, click this link and find it as "Your Player Version."

"Why should I tell you my computer info?!?"
Though the majority of bugs can occur to users on any computer of any type, some errors only occur on certain computers, depending on what OS, browser, and/or Internet connection your computer has. At the very least, these bugs can be fixed by simply changing some minor settings on your computer. At the most extreme, you may have to switch browsers and such in order to fully get rid of the bug.

Include the exact error message you are getting in your report. Describe what you do immediately before the error happens. If there is no error message, say that too. Tell us how you produced the error so that someone else can attempt to duplicate it to find out more information about it. Screenshots can also be helpful.

If it's intermittent, check the Server ID's

Sometimes if you're getting an error that only comes up once in a while, it's a single server that has the faulty code, which is why the error only comes up intermittently. Right-click on the page and choose 'view source', then do a search for 'Gaia Server' to get the Gaia Server ID on the page where the error occurs.
Rules & Guidelines for Posting: A Few Other Notes

For those offering assistance:
  • If you're trying to help, be helpful!
If you're just going to say "I have no idea," or "Don't know! That's weird!" it's better not to post and let someone else post who does have an idea or know and recognize the problem. If you have information you think may be of use but you're not certain it's correct, it's also nice to let us know that you're not certain of the information.

  • Enforcing Rules!
If a user breaks a rule, you can politely inform them of their mistake, but please do not make it the sole purpose of your post, and please make it polite. Getting into a fight with someone solves nothing and may only result in you breaking the rules as well. Reporting the violation is always the best option.

A few notes on Alpha/Beta/Zeta Testing
Minor bugs (those which do not involve major loss of items/gold or completely block features for a majority of the users on the site), may take a while to fix. 'A while' being anywhere from weeks to months.
There can be no guarantees that you will get back items or gold that may have been lost through a glitch. Sometimes users do get things back, yes. Often they don't. Staff will frequently attempt to restore things when major loses occur, but there are never any guarantees.

The Service is provided "As Is" and GAIA Online makes no warranties - expressed or implied - of any kind. You use the Service at your own risk. Furthermore, it should be noted, that GAIA Online assumes no responsibility for the accidental or circumstantial loss of inventory items, Gold, Avatars, lost communications, missed events or loss of personalization of a User's account for ANY reason.

"Why does it take so long to get some glitches fixed?"
Here are the two most likely possibilities:
  • The glitch is low priority
This means quite simply that no developer has had time to fix it yet because there have been higher priority issues taking up their time.

  • The cause has not yet been identified
It's easy to say what a glitch does, and sometimes much harder to figure out why or what is causing it to do that

Report Hacking, Scamming or Abuse & Harassment?

The Hacking, Scamming and Abuse or Harassment report forms can be found at the bottom of the forum index. When submitting a report, ensure that you fill out all fields and include as much relevant information as possible.

    Report A Hacking
Use this form to report a Hacking. Hacking, on Gaia Online, refers to the unauthorized access of an account by someone other than the account owner. In most typical hacking cases, an unauthorized person enters an account which does not belong to him or her and takes items or gold from the account, often changing the account information so that the original owner can no longer access his or her account.

    Report A Scamming
Use this form to report a Scamming. Scamming is when another member of Gaia takes your gold or items, or tries to take your gold or items, by making false promises of giving you rare items, get-rich-quick schemes, or by any other deceptive means. Scamming generally involves a situation in which two members of Gaia make an arrangement to trade gold, items, or a Gaia approved service (e.g. avatar art commission) with each other and then one of the parties involved in the arrangement fails to live up to his or her promise of an exchange.

    Report Abuse or Harassment
Use this form to report ongoing Abuse or Harassment. If you are reporting harassment or abuse that is occurring directly in a thread, please use the "Report This Post" button instead.
