Active Task won't erase

Okay so I have a task to give Rufus his dairy back, and I completed it once before, and for some reason it still says to give him his dairy back, and when I try to I cannot click on him or anything.

I am wondering if this would hold me back from any other active tasks in the game? Also how do I erase it? Can I even do that?

Unfortunately sometimes quests break like this for people, and they will just have to move on and forget about it.
Luckily, Rufus's Diary is a single side quest which does not play into the main storyline quests, so you can do this without any worries.
