Personality: Fair and objective, Niko tries to do things from which everyone will benefit, regarding himself and all others as equals. He will laugh about his misfortunes and mistakes, even while He is upset or in pain. It’s not altogether surprising that he’s often called upon to settle disputes, something He does with a keen sense of justice, standing by his own very clear moral standards, which comes from a deep desire for peace and harmony. However, he can be a bit of a show off, struggles with tactfulness and can be quite blunt, and has a temper when provoked. He is angry if his integrity is questioned. Active and fiery he sometimes bites off more than he can chew. Brave and loyal almost to the point of foolishness, when he sets out to accomplish something, He ensures He achieve it, come what may. Emotional and passionate, he’s liable to strong reactions, and tends to react in a physical way to everything, which may, at times, make his seem overbearing and dominating, but he always means well and is never deliberately cruel. His face is deep from frown lines, eyes are steady and somewhat piercing -- not looking through you, but certainly looking at you, as if to challenge. There are scars on his lips which are a leftover from past torture. He has large bones, thick thighs, broad shoulders, and a strongly built body of middle stature. His body is often in pain, the years of physical abuse on the battlefield has been hard on it,, he walks swift and sure and takes great care of where he puts his feet when they take each step.

Personality: Blessed with brilliant communication skills, Uther is quick-witted and enjoys a good fight and is always on his toes. He is a friendly albeit sarcastic woman, who likes to indulge in talking, and He talks quite a lot. But, He is not merely a good talker, He also loves to listen, lend a sympathetic ear, learn and react. He mediates effectively in personality tiffs. He often employs snark as a weapon, his cutting derision as sharp as darts, honest which sometimes hurts more sensitive people but He will take any amount of criticism from someone who has something He wants and is able to act a part or exaggerate when necessary. Hard-working, dedicated, ambitious, patient, and self-confident, Uther expects and gives a fair deal. He rarely allows any nonsense at work, which makes his very reliable. Purcell bears all hardships with discipline and finds his own way out of tough circumstances. With a superior sense of duty, selflessness and devotion to his friend and partner, He is admired for his determination; He will never reveal the depth of his competitiveness. He loves to examine others, and knows how to get to the roots of things. His sharp sense of intuition definitely facilitates to accomplish this. He needs others but will go it alone when necessary. He owns an overwhelming ability to strip away all veneer and get to the core of any issue. Often believed to lack any type of shame, He is indefatigable when promoting his cause, ensuring that no matter what things go forward to society's benefit, He will accept failure as inevitable only when the odds are overwhelming. Although He values authenticity He also takes pride in all aspects of his identity including how He looks and carries himself. also He’s fiercely independent and feels strongly about doing what He wants with his own life and body. Industrious and methodical, He doesn't like to delegate and wants to oversee every step of an operation himself but He has faith in his subordinates.

Space Captain Niko Paget is in love with his supervising Comodore and former mentor Uther Purcell but He hasn't confessed his feelings because fraternization is against the rules, He values their friendship and working relationship most and worries it'd make their friendship awkward (He's thought of his as a big brother since his teens). Their platonic relationship is very important to his and He would not give it up for the world. Uther Purcell has noticed his attraction and shares it, He’s loved Niko as a little brother and the recent attraction has been troubling. Any relationships with a strong power imbalance are already squicky. Because it’s hard to see somebody as an equal— which you need in a relationship— when you are used to thinking somebody is above/below you. Or that you have more say than the other person because you are in control. He’d always had an attraction to storytelling, and making cracks about their age differences, but but lately to started constantly reminding the student (but mostly himself) that he is truly old, bringing up the past constantly, remembering Niko as a student, as a way of trying to trick himself out of having feelings. He is struggling, and ‘trying to do the right thing’. Niko is the ship's Captain, but Uther Purcell outranks Niko Paget and was his mentor and doesn't believe it'd be right for his to act on it. He would never want to take advantage of his friend and the power dynamics makes his uncomfortable. . They like each other, they shouldn’t…. but they do.



✒ ❝ PLOT:
Nico wants to make Uther a really romantic night in, candlelit dinner and rose petals on the bed and all that junk. but the only candles in his living quarters were an aromatherapy gift from a medic a few years ago, and their fragrance clashes really badly with dinner, so he tosses them and opens the windows to get the smell out, but now the apartment is freezing, and by the time he figures out how to fix THAT his sauce has browned just a little too far, and the smoke detector goes off and that’s the moment Uther comes home, to the smoke detector going BLEEDLEEDLEEDLEEDLEEP and Nico waving potholders in the kitchen to clear away the smell, and thee unlit half-burned-down candles on the dining table, and he doesn’t chuckle even a little bit, and he helps Nico clean up and snuggle for a while waiting for the delivery man Nico had called to arrive, they eat dinner when they finally go to bed, things get a little risqué(nothing they wouldn’t show on a kid show), and Nico forgets to turn on the light, and Uther lies down and gets a faceful of petals and a little chuckle slips out, and as he’s picking out the petals from his ear, Nico grumbles something along the lines of “At least the delivery man wasn’t a spy… this time.” and Uther just kisses his scowl and says “you’re real sweet, Nico.” (Or something like that.)
