The contents of culture 1 and culture 2: Dates & Times are done for Maldia.

Also Script Frenzy is going to be taking my time next month and already is for this month but I will still be working on this so I should still get at least one section done.

Maan. You guys are updating faster than I have time to check things. I am impressed. Ysavvryl, I've got your gold sitting and waiting to go. Looks like you're on the home stretch to becoming our first winner.

whimsicaldreamer: Your language is crazy! I'm very curious about whether or not it is actually possible to have a working language the way you described it.

WhenTheDay-MetTheNight1
All done with the first part!
Name: WhenTheDay-MetTheNight1
World Name: Tasmosene
World Link: Yay!

Your image url doesn't seem to be working. Could you fix that and tell me when you do?

Everything should be updated to here now. Since it's already the 23rd (I have no idea how that happened) the monthly mini challenge will have to wait for April.

Ysavvrly is a beast. You go girl.

Both those thoughts crossed my mind while creating it. I think if I knew more about creating a language it might be. As it is now, well luckily the only people who need to speak it are fictional.

March went quickly. I will be waiting for the mini challenge next month.

hehe, thanks. I'm having fun with it.

Just a note while I work through this... I'm treating prompt 11.2.13 as two prompts, not one. See...

Quote:
11.2.13 Where does one worship in these religions? Are there places in homes for worship? Churches? Sacred fields? Choose a religion and explain a particular religious ritual, including its meaning and purpose.

To me, that seems like two different subjects, where the worship takes place and an example ritual. I dunno if you want this to be modified at this time, but you could have the first part include describing what a typical religious building looks like. Then take out the last sentence and have it as 11.2.14.

You're right, they'd be better as two separate prompts, so I added a 11.2.14.

Radia-17 is completed!!!!! Yeah!

Just for the fun:

Challenge thread started on 12/12/11, when I posted the first seven prompts. Finished 3/27/12, so that's about three and a half months in-between all my other writing (which is enough to be considered a full-time job and then some...)

Work was started in a Word document, changed to a Word '97 early on so I could do work on another computer too, and then changed a OpenOffice document recently due to computer issues and finished like that xp

Word count including all the prompts: 121,759
Pages: 232
Posts it took to put into a Gaia thread: 26

Stuff that is 'new' to the world: A lot! I started with my NaNoWriMo '11 project, but ended up pulling in three other incomplete projects into Radia-17. Stuff that is entirely new in this challenge includes vampires (classic, not modern), the whiskets, and a town called Drenched Goat (seriously, I have to use that as a setting some time). And it may not be obvious, but a fair number of prompts actually go towards explaining the powers, motivation, and history behind one character, the main character of the NaNo story.

Any advice for others doing this challenge... I still have to go with pointing out History: The Past as the most tedious section due to the amount of timelines it requires. You could make it easier on yourself by doing the timelines in conjecture with sections the timeline applies to. For instance, the cultural-art timeline would do great with the Culture: Art section. Also, when you're stuck, search around and find related prompts for some points to work from. Don't copy and paste a section (obviously), but something that got a few words of mention in one prompt may fully answer another prompt if expanded.

Now I'm gonna take a break. maybe finally start up FFXII.

Grats Ysavvryl! Considering that only a few people have managed to break past 100 prompts so far, the fact that you completed the challenge so quickly is impressive indeed! I hope no one else like you comes around here any time soon or I'm going to go broke!

What do you mean it's April already?!

April Prompt!

This prompt will continue until the 12th of May, so you all have a full month to complete it.

Tell me about the smells of your world. Pick at least three locations, and in at least 200 words tell me all about what it smells like. Does your city smell like poo because its citizens haven't figured out the miracle of sewer systems? Does a town smell like cinnamon on certain times of year because everyone is baking holiday cinnamon bread? Does a forest smell like roses because there's a monster inside luring in maidens?

Smell is considered the sense most closely tied to memory, so getting a good grasp of the odors of your world can help a lot of evoking a strong image in the reader.

Good luck!

In the Kingdom of Lethe of The Warring Lands a small kingdom bordering the mountains of the desert is the lands of a minor noble.
This land is covered in apple trees, white blossoms cover the land in the spring and come summer the bright red fruit hangs thick amongst the leaves. The people who live here rely on this crop and trading it with the Traders for their lives.
This land smells like apples, not the cinnamon spiced smell created by apple pies but the sweet smell of the fruit when it is ripe. In the spring when the tree’s bloom the light scent of the flowers mingle with it. This smell persists year round for reasons that no one knows but most simply pass it off to magic.

The city of Tur,htur, hzik smells like a mixture of manure, smoke, and burnt things. This smell is created because the inhabitants burn the dead. They deal with the Zombies by casting their bodies into pits that have been dug, and setting them ablaze. The burial of their dead is the same, holes are dug, the dead are placed inside and then burned. The smell of manure mixes in with the smoke because of the piles they collect both human and animal waste into to fertilize their fields. This smell is really only noticed on bad days and by those who have not become used to the aroma.

The Red Fields next to The City has a distinctly metallic tint to the smell of the red flowers that bloom there. This is often attributed to the origin of the fields, the blood that covered the ground in the war before Klim Tog ended it.

Also my thread of Maldia was moved Here.
srsly need to get around to starting this
can we have more than one world going at once?

This is a huge project. You're probably better off focusing on one world. But, it's entirely possibly and more reasonable to have different cultures, so if one culture doesn't fit a prompt, you can find another. Is there any way to blend the two worlds?

You can use the prompts on as many worlds as you like, but I will only track one at a time. And I suggest against doing more than that if you intend to ever finish any. Consider that the challenge has been going for more than a year and out of over 50 people who started, only one so far has managed to finish.

Everything should be updated to here.
xD
Unfortunately the worlds cannot.
The first one I have a lot established in scattered notes and files. Might just get most of it up then start the second.
