Perfect Plan (Sestina)
1 Beneath each rotting bloom one anxious seed
2 reposed in patient silence - winter's spring
3 as fighting composts retch with secret plans.
4 Chill heat may validate harsh nature's wisdom...
5 predictable, the cycles canvassed surface
6 where shovels only pierce with sweat and grit.
6 Lush forest floor or drifting desert grit
1 blanket each its own one precious seed
5 deep or shallow, buried - meant to surface;
2 unfurling tiny shoots to dance and spring.
4 Proof to show the gently harsher wisdom
3 despite all best laid men and mice's plans.
3 Symbiotic greed gives way to plans
6 of higher promised focus - centered grit
4 to cheer or scoff at tested prior wisdom.
1 You know before the sleep, before the seed,
2 before the rooted sprig one rusty spring
5 so near the shiny tarnished outer surface.
5 Underlying wakened pull to surface
3 arroused from dreams still spinning private plans
2 tugged forth by fingers fresh as clearest spring
6 allowing pulsing pearl to find true grit.
1 Persistant pollen's work produced its seed
4 whose dormant instinct rose to ancient wisdom.
4 Refocused now this drama - poignant wisdom
5 drags it forth to magic waiting surface
1 sudden now, dividing waste from seed
3 reminding mother nature of old plans.
6 Damp and humus swirl around the grit
2 as dark retreats before the rays of spring.
2 Persistant are these cycle, fresh each spring.
4 One foolish thought may toil its way to wisdom.
6 Frown, concentrate feel pointed tight teeth's grit.
5 Sprouting time draws near! Come watch the surface!
3 Fulfilled - new life breaks free - well-reached, her plans.
1 Kiss earth, toast rain, rejoice successful seed!
2, 5 Gloried spring prepared the surface, moist .
4, 3 Proven wisdom, perfect plan results.
6, 1 Gingered grit and winning seed - sweet life.
