@IB: Wow. xDDD
I wonder if the site maintenance just got lazy and did a find/replace when updating it for 2009.
Then again, I know nothing about websites and don't even know if this is possible.

@Da Flea: xD I love the idea with the cat.
It reminds me a bit of Coraline. But somehow a lot better.

Maybe all of my female characters WILL be named after Spice Girls.
I think I'll need to create another girl though...>>
I got my title picked out and everything now. whee It'll be called Poplar and Peppermint.

Back to research!

LOL @ NaNo.

I was just about to edit the novel info on my profile when I stumbled across this note:

Quote:
It's December 1, and NaNoWriMo 2009 has ended! The word count validator is closed, and your word count is locked for the 2009 event. You can, however, continue to update your novel excerpt, synopsis, and book cover in the off-season. If you have any questions, just pop us a note.

December 1 already! Oh noes, I missed NaNo this year! xd

Looks like I don't have to pick a genre after all. xD Hey, and I'll be 19 in less than two weeks this way!
Hello.

Weekly Question: Have you ever participated in NaNo before? If so, what has your experience been like? If not, what are you most excited about in your first rushed noveling adventure?

This will be my first year. I've always thought about doing NaNo before but never got up the nerve to try. I write short stories so I was always intimidated. Now that I won't have too many distractions I'll sign up and try. I'm most excited about seeing how much I can write about the same thing. I like short, brief things so it will be a challenge. I don't have a lot of ideas about the plot so far. The title up there is a short story idea that I will try and stretch out into this novel. Maybe.

Imo: I haven't seen Coraline yet. =O The idea came to me from a favourite song, "Plea From a Cat Named Virtute". It's told from the cat's point of view, talking to his depressed owner. So I just imagined this cat having all this wisdom and being unable to convey it because no one understands him.

A Spice Girl cast could be frightening. XD

IB: They're trying to psych us out. @_@

Bobo: Welcome! =D You might try thinking of the novel as several short stories all around the same characters. Like how TV shows have a different event every week, but they often build up to a bigger, two-part season finale. And instead of writing an ending to each story, you just transition into the next story. I dunno if that's helpful or not, but it's how I sometimes think of my longer stuff. *is weird*
Da Flea - I actually do that sometimes. I usually use each chapter as sort of an episode, where it has its own mini-plot as well as pursuing a major plot. So it's like lots of little short stories (or episodes) that build up on each other. I only just started writing in this fashion to see how it would work, and I kind of like it.

Aurin: Yeah, it's something I've been growing into the past year or two. I've got several episodic novel ideas and even some of my long stories are made of many small, barely connected chapters that somehow make a whole. I think it fits my fragmented way of thinking. XD

This year's Nano is going to be a similar idea, hopefully giving me more room to jump around and experiment. dramallama
Flea, you know The Weakerthans? surprised They come from my city and I'm always shocked whenever I find someone who knows them.

Morsuaile: I do know The Weakerthans. =D I saw lyrics of theirs in a story once and became intrigued, so I looked them up. They've got some awesome stuff. dramallama

Baha, you guys post too muchzzz.

Flea: I definitely agree with your novel guide. Thinking of it like a video game is also very helpful, so long as it's not one of those GTA/Sims games. User Image

Having ideas floating around your head all the time is both good and bad, I've noticed. I have no idea what to write, again. I'll probably beat myself into figuring it out by the 15th so I can make some awesome banners/have a title, so if I don't have one by then, you guys should totally e-bully me into it. ;D

Weekly Question: Have you ever participated in NaNo before? If so, what has your experience been like? If not, what are you most excited about in your first rushed noveling adventure?

Second year! I'm a sophomore at NaNo, just like in high school, lol. My experience last year was awesome, since I actually finished and such.

And! And! I have advice for all the first-timers! Especially those of you who procrastinate. Don't, unless you absolutely cannot write, for whatever reason. Because let me tell you, it takes a lot of determination to write more than your 1667 words a day, just to catch up, unless you're like all these crazy overachievers going for 100k. In which case, um, yeah. I salute you.

Umm, I haven't made up my mind about what I'll be writing for NaNo this year. What I'd most like to write seems to be against the rules... I want to rewrite an older book of mine. I might do short stories instead, or something else entirely.

As for the weekly question, yup, I'm a NaNo three time veteran. My experience has been two-thirds good. Last year's novel was a disaster. That's why I want to rewrite a novel instead of forcing myself to write a new thing that I'm not as interested in... It would be a whole lot more enjoyable to rewrite that book than to write a new one with a hastily drawn up story, I think.

Hmm. I feel rather sick at the moment. It's hard to think of anything to talk about in this post. I'll try to be active this year, though!

Have a lovely day!
Moya

PS - Does anyone remember me?

@Moya: I remember you! <3
And I don't think it's against the rules to rewrite something that you've already written.
It's still a novel that you are starting in November and aiming for 50k words. <3

@Daisy: That's freaking awesome. xD
Though I thought they were Hs as well.
