Nope. Never. And I have to say, I am extremely excited about the idea of my first 50,000 words of crap, compiled into something that can be passed as a novel.

I'll just answer this week's question, then:

Last year was my first time participating in NaNo. I spent a lot of time pulling all-nighters and writing in class and a lot of near-panic attacks when I would only crank out 100 or so words in an hour.

I wrote a little over 20,000 words that month. I'm happy with what I managed to write down, especially considering I also had a major assignment due that month AND was moving just before Thanksgiving. My story (basically a prequel to bigger stories in that universe) helped a lot in fleshing out characters and world events.

I have my story idea!

Basically, I'm modernizing the myth of Persephone and Hades. I might throw in some other modernized Greek mythology stuff too. Now I just need to think of a name. (Was thinking just "Persephone," but that's boring.)

I should actually have two sets of names, one that's the real set and one that my main character gives everyone else. I just haven't decided if the real names should be serious or just as weird as the made-up ones. It might be more fun that way, but also more confusing...


Have you ever participated in NaNo before? If so, what has your experience been like?

This will be my 4th Nano. I've won the previous three years. My first year I hit 50k but the plot had become a tangled, unusable mess. I forget the wordcount the second year, but I did go on to finish that book (though it still needs that rewrite... ) and last year's book is currently at 160k and still not finished (yes, I know, that's bad X_X )

This year, I've decided to drop the series that I was working on for the past two Nanos. I'm just not prepared to start Book 3. So instead I'm going to work on something shorter, something hopefully easier.... sweatdrop
