I believe that there is another absence coming. For those of you who know me, this probably comes as no surprise as they are a periodic habit, however, I feel that this is probably going to be the final one as Gaia holds little interest for me as life develops and I am less and less entertained by what is floating in the OP/L. Thus, a contest, something else that generally signals my leave, to reward those few left here with talent and ambition.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with me, I've been an OP/L Reg since 2003 (no, that's not the date on my profile, as this is not my original account; I've long since not had that one) and am owner/operator of the longest running poetry exercise thread (Bohemian's Challenge). Among the labels I've been given by other various OP/Lers are Oldbie, Grammar Nazi, Poetic Elite, and b***h. I critique poetry for poetry's sake, not yours and definitely not your feeling's. And so...
ANNOUNCEMENT (7/25/2011): It is taking longer than previously anticipated to turn all of my lesser-valued items into Gold, so this contest is taking a turn!
There will now be several rounds, some might have a topic or goal while others may not--
that will depend on my mood and how well you are at pleasing me with your works;
in other words: the more s**t you give me, the more s**t I will, most likely, give you.
Critiquing each other is highly encouraged!
Each subsequent round will eliminate a certain percentage of the entries to be decided at a later time,
possibly spur-of-the-moment while I critique.

Prompt:
Each contestant will be given three words.
One must be used for your poem's topic; one must be used as a metaphor; one must simply be in the poem.
It is up to you what role each word is allotted.
You may use a different form of your words.
Don't bother asking me for new words, you're just going to tick me off and make the next round even more brutal.
They are chosen at random from a pre-written list.
Everyone's words are different.
In addition to submitting a poem, each contestant must critique at least one other contestant's poem that has not yet received critique from another contestant, in this thread.
Please do not use orange font because I do and I do not want anyone (including myself) to mistake me for you.
You should refer to the Entries post on the first page to see who has already received critique.
Please do not supply multiple critiques until everyone has given and received at least one.
You may edit your entry until December 10.
And remember:
You are getting a lot of s**t from me in this prompt because I had to wade through a lot of s**t poems to get here.
The worse you allow this to be for me, the worse I will make it on you.
In other words, help each other out.

UPDATE ON ROUND 2:
1) I am going to judge you on your poem AND your crit for this round.
2) Because there are so many poem left that didn't get crit,
people who have both their poem AND first crit in are going to finish critiquing them
(this gives you more practice and more chances at giving/getting good crit).
3) You guys have one week from tomorrow ( 11/18, so due 11/28 )
to make sure that every poem has at least one critique.
4) You may also give crit on poems that other people have already done.
(So, if there were any pieces you were just dying to stick your hands on, go for it).
5) You will have until Dec 10 to make any changes you want to your poem.
6) You will receive two ranking for this Round:
one for your poem and one for your critiques.
