Another Writing Contest from Doleon!


Thank you to everyone who made my previous two contests as successful as they were!

This one is going to be ongoing, for however long I can keep it going on. There will be a new thread for each new contest.




This is the COLOR POETRY CONTEST!

(and if any of your entries look like that, I'm going to have a hernia)




I choose a color for every contest, and ye all write me poems that somehow have to do with that color. I'm going to be vague in my color choice, so a lot of leeway will be allowed, but treat the color as a prompt. I have standards, however lenient, and I will be sure to inform you if you do not meet them.



The concept seems simple enough to me, but please, if you have any questions, be not afeared to approach me with them!




Your Prompt:
BLUE


No length requirement or limitation. I'm going to limit entries to two per person, with an entry fee paid for each.




The entry fee, as usual, is 100 gold, payable to DOLEON MULE



The prizes? Oh yes... those....

1st place: 7500
2nd place: 5750
3rd place: 2550







All funds contributed to this contest go to the prize pool; I have never, and will never take anything for myself from a contest - it's about the writers! Yep. It's limited to ten, so I have an easier time judging, and so we can proceed more rapidly. There is no limit to how many times one person can win, and feel free to enter anything, even if it's won before. I haven't read it yet, and I'd like to.

Still racking my brain for this one.

don't know what the hell this is but eh I have gold to spare. Sent the entry fee trade.

Terror in Blue

You were wearing a blue bandana
the day they grabbed you by the arm
as you were leaving your apartment block, saying,
"come now, come with us."
you followed into their car with a heavy heart.

Later you would scream innocent,
scream mistake as the prosecutor
lit up a cigarette and kicked the boot
into you until your skin, too, was blue
and you signed on the dotted line:
traitor, liar, a tenner for you!

In the transit prison you were shoved
twenty-four to a cell meant to hold six
politicals, theives, murdererors all mixed
together on top of each other, your breath muffled,
the man next to you stealing your bag and your coat,
while the man on top at you leered with eyes that were blue.

Ten years you dug holes in frost-bitten earth with wooden
shovels, inch by an hour, and the sweat froze
to your scalp. Blue-skinned, unearthly wretch
you made factories deep in the artic that built guns
to export to those less fortunate then you.
