Hello and welcome to Beyond the Bounds, a writing contest where the best are those who reach beyond their boundaries. How does one do this? The short answer is stepping far outside your zone of comfort and being plopped right into alien territory. What this encompasses, is that you take your greatest weaknesses as a writer, and using the talent in your fingertips to make them shine. In addition to expanding our writing skillset, this helps us in overcoming any roadblocks towards improving our abilities.

In short, this contest is about showing your strongest work in your absolute weakest genre or style. The ultimate reward for your effort will be a sealed(or sealeds, depending on how long this runs)

Submission Form

arrow What is your strongest style/genre?
    arrow Your Weakest?
    arrow Why?
arrow Do you have a sample of your strongest/weakest work to show?

Rules

arrow You must at least have a sample of your strongest work submitted
arrow Contest piece must be in a genre/style that is your weakest(if it's not, it's grounds for immediate disqualification)
arrow If this is a clearly plagiarized piece of work, you will disqualified and banned from the competition.
arrow The minimum limit will be 500 words for shorts, and 5 stanzas, for poems, with no max(currently, anyways)
arrow Deadline is the Sunday, July 27th @ 12 AM
arrow It is a free contest, but donations are always welcome(and may help better the end reward)
    arrow Don't be a jerk

Criteria

Creativity-How fresh and original the piece is, along with the
overall characterization. The greater your creativity, the higher your
score.

Description-How vividly you can portray your subjects, and the world
around them. What we see, what we hear, even what we smell, taste and
touch will all be accounted for, and factored into the score.

Content-How deep, and layered the overall story is, and how much impact
it has. Substantial storytelling will be sure to get you high marks
here.

Emotion-How well you can portray your subject's actions, and
reactions. Inner and outer dialogue, along with how well balanced the dramatic and comedic aspects are, also determine your grade.

Each of these will be graded out of 10 pts, and total up to 40 pts.
