Tired of the huge, crazy a** contests in which you have to submit fees and follow rules that go on for eternity? This contest is the solution. After hosting my first contest in December 06, I find that it's time to stick up for the fledgling writers of Gaia as well as the seasoned vets. Your goal is to write an entertaining piece of prose, poetry, whatever that can keep me entertained. The rules are pretty straight forward. Mission Prompt: I have been working on a book for the past couple of years and have recently published the work in addition to revamping my website www.cfxt.com . Originally, I was going to come here asking people to make a quick visit to my site for comments and suggestions, and while that would still be helpful, I came up with what I think is a much better idea. On my site, I have a section dubbed “The Start”. This page is dedicated to the works of others and I thought it would be cool to display some of the works done by fellow members of Gaia. Obviously, I cannot post every work I see due to my limited amount of file space; however, I think it would be fitting to have a writers Contest to highlight extraordinary pieces. Important Notes: Essentially, this is how it works. If your piece scores a 13 or above (and even an 11+ in some cases), I'd consider it site-worthy. I do not just take your pieces and throw them up on the site! You have to come talk to me, and have the opportunity to make changes to your piece. I do not hand out copyright licenses to maintain your work's protection. You are responsible for the maintenance of your rights; of course posting your piece on the site does not take away those rights. Prizes will be traded after a winner is chosen. No late work will be accepted. CFXT.com is owned by me - works and photos are protected under Copyright Law. ![]() 1. Refer to the top of the page for deadline information.. it changes a lot. 2. Please submit your pieces through a PM or post them in the contest thread. If you do post them in the thread, please send me a PM with the page number - this will save me time later on. (If you really must give an external link, that's okay, but I really don't think it's my responsibility to surf the web for your s**t.) 3. The layout of the piece is up to the author (prose, poetry, etc) 4. Make it as entertaining as possible... I like to be entertained. 5. 1 piece is allowed per round 6. Authors are responsible for telling me anything special about the piece. You are also responsible for checking the list to make sure that I have seen your piece. If I miss it, and you come back 3 weeks after the deadline bitching about how you were missed, that is not my problem. 6a. That said - DO NOT FUCKING COMPLAIN! This is a free contest. If I see any sort of pissing and moaning because you don't agree with a judge's score, don't let the door hit your a** on the way out. If you have questions about your score, feel free to ask; however, this summer we had a bunch of cry babies and I will not put up with it. If you cannot ascertain from these instructions that I like profanity and that I will not sugarcoat s**t to crap rainbows on your day, then you probably shouldn't be here. 7. The same piece may not be reused for different rounds. (If this happens, the individual will recieve a big fat 0) 8. A plagiarism checker will be used on ALL ENTRIES. Posting someone else's work will result in a report. That means - DO NOT TEST the contest, you will receive a message from a Gaia Admin shortly after doing so. 9. Better to ask than be a silent dumbass. razz ![]() Creativity/Originality: 0 to 5 points (+1 if you really blow my mind) Grammar/Style: 0 to 5 points Entertainment Value: 0 to 5 points (+1 if you really blow my mind) ![]() Any piece I enjoy can get a spot in The Start section of (www.cfxt.com) pending author approval. Back to School Prizes TBD. *Prizes are subject to change - generally for the better, but sometimes s**t comes up. Normally, however, if something does come up it does not affect the worth of the contest prizes. ![]() My site reached its 4000th hit... thanks to all of you for visiting. "Hall of Fame" The HoF can be found on http://agwc.cfxt.com "Hall of Epic Fail" Kjenk - For plagiarism! "Ash's Hall of Perfection Awesomeness!" Hey all. Ash here. An interesting opportunity is being brought to you contestants, from yours truly. Wing and I have decided, in the wake of Never’s perfect score, to raise the stakes, so to speak, for this contest. And I promise, it’ll be worth your while. After a small bit of discussion with Wing we have agreed that one of the major points of this contest is to get you writers out there. You’re all wonderful at what you do, and we understand how hard the literary world can be. It’s difficult to get out there and to be noticed. Here is our proposal: My college (Endicott College, look it up) has an annual literary magazine (the Endicott Review), which I am one of the editors in. Since my arrival into the college, I have become a very prominent figure in reshaping the way our magazine views the entries we are given. In short, I am looking for entries of higher quality. I don’t want to be part of a literary magazine that produces s**t. As a reward for getting into what Wing calls “The Hall of Perfection” (aka: 15/15 on any entry you provide), I will have you published in the Endicott Review. Your publication will be completely free and you will receive up to 4 copies, no charge. (Never has already set herself up to be published to the Spring 09’ edition.) Upon getting into the Hall of Perfection, I will provide you with all necessary information to getting your work published with the EC Review. Your work is not limited to the entry you provide, however, I require that the piece (that you got 15/15 on) is part of your submission to the EC Review. I understand this isn’t anything you’ll see in Borders or Barnes and Noble bookstores, however, it’s a legitimate publication and a step toward something greater for all you wonderful writers. The only criteria is that you are willing to submit your work to the EC Review (preferably with your actual names attached to the piece) and that you get a perfect score on any submission in Wing’s contest. This offer is not limited to any contest Wing provides, but IS limited to whether I am still a judge or not. (I don’t plan on going anywhere, so don’t worry.) So there it is! Take it or leave it. Good luck to everyone on the final three rounds. I expect nothing but the best from all of you and I look forward to your submissions. Now, I have some critiquing to do. "GlacialWolf's World of Mayhem and Pain" So, many of you may not know who GlacialWolf is, but she is a close friend of mine that helps out with prizes here and there for this contest because I am a poor a** mofo. Eitherway, she came to me with the idea that if she sees an entry in the thread that she likes (she enjoys violence, btw) that she would randomly give prizes out. That said, be warned because another set of eyes will be prowling Anything Goes in the hunt for glorious writing, and trust me when I say that she is far more unforgiving in her critiques than I - she will disfigure her victims. razz Hehe! Welcome to a new action packed offering brought to the WC Forums by the CFXT.com Anything Goes Writing Contest - SHAMELESS PLUG! Peace out, Wing T.F. McCallister |
