Ah, I see. For some strange reason, I thought we were talking about the same place. Hopefully they aren't too much longer with your reply. I hope they do put you in though! 60 days is a long wait emotion_0A0

Oh, Narrator is snazzy; the other feature...not so much. lol My feature in Narrator is later in the year, but Death Head Grin seems sort of stetchy but I'm not arguing with it if they want to feature me. I can boast about it even if it is minor xd (Not that I care but) my family's perceptions of me have drastically changed since I announced I was to be featured. Before, people were just like "Oh, that seems like a bit of a waste of time," even though I made it clear that writing was never going to be a full time job. As soon as I started winning comps (no one needs to know that they are just forum based ones ninja ) and got my pending ezine features, everyone has been treating me like some kind of respected author. I hate to break it to them, but I'm not all that!

Sorry, I should have been clearer.

Sixty days has been giving me migraines, no joke. xD

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. You're right, though; bragging rights are bragging rights! It isn't like they're charging you money to publish it, so honestly, I don't see much harm. I can certainly identify with trying to get published to validate the opinion of friends and family members, though. I have an aunt that's a published novelist, on top of being a successful journalist, and having two children that are younger than me and journalists. My ego is constantly being slapped by a white salmon by those people.

(Though, I do find their 'journalistic integrity' a joke, and they back down from interesting controversy and trying to show both sides of the coin. I like to think that if I was a journalist I wouldn't use it as an excuse to start witch hunts. )

45 days is plenty for 90 entries: we managed Island Writer in 21, including formatting time, a two-week reading period, and the copy-editing party where we decided what we wanted to change. Of course, that was a staff of four editors and an editorial assistant, and that was with me in charge, and everything runs better with me in charge.

The implication was that it was close to three times the normal amount of entries they recieved, though. I think they're just not use to that sort of flow. The main editor doesn't like reading long things (and by long, that's anything over 3000 words), so I sort of picture him sitting with his monocle and pipe in a big plush red chair, all, "Oh, am I to read that piece now? How entirely dull." And he would pronounce it like 'duel' because of a thick Canadian accent.

The Solarised Night
It is also the same kind of mentality that has Rotsy thinking you're some kind of Steven Hawing just because you're a physicist and know things we don't know.

Whatcha gunna do about that, Rots? razz

I don't know why you think I have his crazy idea of Wing. xD Thinking someone is a hard judge makes them Hawking, now?

I like asking questions just for general knowledge, to be honest. Or research, which is ridiculously hard to do on space. (Apparently NASA photoshops all of its space pictures. Instead of, y'know, investing in a colour camera. Seriously, NASA? )

I do think Wing is very smart. I think you and PK are very smart too, though, for the record. I assume most people are smarter than me until they prove otherwise. xD

1. It's fine;
2. I imagine. I can't even do anything to help you other than wish you luck. That and offer a cookie?
3. It's okay, as you said: bragging rights is bragging rights
4. Well actually, it wasn't trying to validate people's opinions. I am rather sick of being ignored and treated like crap but then as soon as I do something somewhat interesting like win a comp, get featured, get through nanowrimo etc, suddenly I had (before I cut her from my life) my mother holding me up like a trophy to use as an excuse to brag about her parenting skills because my success apparently equals her good parenting. I'm her "amazingly talented and beautiful daughter" in front of her friends and a "stupid selfish c***" the rest of the time. rolleyes That and my douchey uncle is one of those name-droppers who thinks he is going to be a millionaire and goes to all of those success-talks; he is all over me and bragging about his "winner" of a niece. I just hate it.
5. Ergh, having super successful people in a family is worse than coming from mine which has basically no success at all. I don't have a bar set so basically anything I do is amazing. You sound like you've got more to proove gonk

6. I know you don't; I just wanted to see how you would react. It wasn't a reference to his hosting; it was to his career. It was ridiculousness time and I just dragged your butt in it.

7. You better enter the GGW!

2. Awww, thanks. I just wanted an excuse to whine. xD I appreciate feeling heard! (Read? )
3. Hah, exactly!
4. Ah, okay. Yeah, that sounds terrible. I'm sorry to hear that. That sounds worse to me; sort of fair-weather friends. At least my family members are honest about their (lack of) respect.

Though, I thought Australians toss around c*nt the way the British use 'mate'? xD

5. At least it isn't a 'bank off success' type of situation, though. You sound like Matilda! </3 Plus, my parents are extremely supportive, which helps.

6. Ah, okay. Haha, fair enough then!

7. I intend to. emotion_awesome

2. Whining is good sometimes XD
4. Nah, it isn't bad because I just ignore them. You are probably exposed to your family more. I wish you wouldn't undermine yourself so much though. It seems a shame to see such a nice guy think he isn't intelligent when he is clearly capible of holding engaging conversations and writing creative pieces. I wouldn't be so hard on yourself/ let them get to you. Don't try and deny that you don't, either.
5.1 yeah, a 'bank of success' situation is the worst. I had a friend in high school that used to beat herself up because she was comparing herself to her brother who got Dux of the school and had photographic memory. It stressed her out so much.
5.2 I wish I had Matilda's magic. That looked fun. I actually did feel kind of like her growing up. I was the only kid I knew that was cooking their own meals before they were 5. Meals consisted of toast, instant noodles, bacon, eggs, rice, pasta, and cereal but hell I know 13 year olds that can't even do that. rofl
5.3 supportive parents are always a good thing even if they are a pain. Wing was telling me that his dad was a little too proud of him

6. I forget what 6 was. Oh yeah, it was riling you up but I failed. Nevermind, it got your attention anyway.

7. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Good luck! I actually have lots of assessments and exams coming up over these next 6 weeks so I might only get entries in for a few rounds. I'm not in it to win it this year. That requires a lot more planning than I have done.

8. It is 1am; why the hell am I still awake. I spent 7hrs today writing up a report and reading notes. Once I got that done I just came on here to check a few things and got distracted by comedy sites.

Bluh, I don't wanna do a CPR research paper. Should really do it in the next three days, though. Blargh. And 2-4 pages, so I know they don't want much, but I still want to cram it full of unnecessary facts just because I really enjoy annoying authority figures.

Also, yes, Rotsab, you shouldn't be so down on yourself. There's a ridiculous cultural emphasis on humility that often gets taken too far in that we're not allowed to think good things about ourselves, but ******** that s**t. Seriously. Ignore society and be a pirate: you are a decent writer and seem reasonably intelligent.

So my router is a piece of s**t and blocks a bunch of stupid key words. It blocks the Sydney Morning Herald site, Tumblr, anything with 'torrent', 'pirate', 'sex', and numerous other pointless phrases and key words.

Blocking 'sex' is pathetic. 'porn' is not blocked so why 'sex'?

I can't research 'sexual assault' or 'the sexualisation of the media' because they have the word 'sex' in it.

My ISP needs to go die.

Wow, that's kind of absurd. Can you call them and ask wtf is going on?

I don't want to do my welfare paper either rofl but I have to do it so I can start the glorousness that is my writing major. Are they going to mark you down if you fill it with too much trivia though?

Naww PK, that was sweet heart

It is registered in my housemate's name and he is the kind of guy who doesn't know how to change security settings or what an IP address is. He is also an OCD head-case who wont let me adjust the settings myself and refuses to let me log onto his computer to fix it from there. He's also being difficult by changing the router password so I can't access it externally.

Basically, he doesn't see anything wrong with it, and it doesn't effect him, so he wont let me fix it.

Dangerous Enabler

Wow, housemate is kind of douchey. Do you have access to a library with internet?

As long as I prove that I know what I'm doing, they don't give a damn. This is about proving competency, so above and beyond should be acceptable.

XD I love that I've been here long enough that lukewarm praise is actually understood as meant.

Being a pirate is something I see a person I follow on tumblr using sort of synonymously with ignoring society when they are counter to one's own good and stepping back and going '******** this' to irrational subclauses in the social contract. By that metric, I am already a pirate.
