I switched my AlphaSmart keys into Dvorak, but I need one of those rubber keymat things if I want to type on this computer or my other one in Dvorak. I can't switch the keys because I'm not the only one who uses this computer and I don't need more s**t from my sister.

I'm okay at typing with Dvorak, but not perfect. Not as fast as QWERTY. My info. tech. teacher is going to look at me weird when I ask if the school has any extra keymat things.

I didn't bother switching keys. I found an image online of a Dvorak keyboard layout and printed it, so I have that propped up by the screen if I need it, although like I said, the keys weren't hard to learn. I just have to think about them a lot more or I'll slip back to Qwerty. And I do make a lot more typos. XP I'm not to worried about speed. I'll keep practicing until the keys are fully ingrained. Then I'll work on building speed to my Qwerty levels and try to switch over fully.

I get the M and the W mixed up, because they're right beside each other and look very similar, just one is flipped. And I always lose the V and Z under my finger. I don't type correctly on QWERTY, not like the way they teach in typing class, but I can type much faster this way than the "correct" way. I'm hoping I can do the same with Dvorak. I also don't have the keys memorized and tend to watch myself type a lot, but I can't stand staring at the screen anyway when I can watch my fingers type each letter individually and visualize the word in my head.

My biggest problem is just that when I speed up, my fingers want to stop thinking and go back into Qwerty. Then I'll scramble and sometimes hit a couple totally wrong keys before remembering the right ones. Also, I find myself hitting the right keys but in the wrong order. I'm Dvorak dyslexic. =P

The only thing I think I do different from normal Qwerty is I use the same finger for C and V. I think the middle finger's supposed to hit C, but it doesn't want to. XD

I don't like watching my fingers. Never have. One of the things I like most in writing is when I hit a groove and just see those letters appearing smoothly one after another, like magic.

I get into a grove and just like watching the rhythmic tapping of my fingers on the keys. My fingers go everywhere - I generally use my left pointer for the Y, and I always use the right shift key. I think I also use my index fingers for more than I should.

Haha, now that I'm thinking about it, I can't remember off the top of my head what finger goes where and does what. It's like I know, but I can't remember unless I'm typing, and at that point, I'm too busy trying to remember what to write and how to spell things to pay attention to where my fingers go.

*whee* I meant to leave for just a few seconds and ended up making some teriyaki raamen and having a long discussion about the cost of books and how my mother thinks I'm an idiot for spending 38$ on 5 books. It's not my fault there's no place around to get used copies of things I actually like. -_-;

That's not that bad. Just less than $8 a book, and when you look at even paperback prices, that's pretty good.

I've decided what you should do if I am ever in a contest anyone is holding, and you decide to extend the deadline, is don't tell me about the extention. I am a horrible procrastinator, and all my story is right now is just odd cliche-ed information and a list of over-used characters and lines. And I'm going to get to work on it tomorrow. (School is in for me as we speak. Don't tell the computer teacher I'm here!) Maybe you should have just PMed everyone about the extention, and you would have recieved my entry back in July, and then you could have said "FOOLED YOU!! You still have a month!" Then, I would use that time to actually EDIT and PROOFREAD my own story. How weird is that?

Sorry, my randomness early in the morning.
     
I like cheese. It's very, very tasty. Plus, it's fun to say. All of life's mysteries can be solved by cheese.
