Readers-

So... I'm reading a book called The Writer's Idea Book:How to Develop Great Ideas for Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, & Screenplays (10th Anniversary Edition) by Jack Heffron.

There is a section describing the Enemies of Creativity. The one I want to focus on from this book is called "The Talker".

This inner enemy squanders the creative energy by the writer telling people about their writing project(s) and that the writer losses the intimacy and interest for their project.

Do you think your energy is lost when your project is discussed with someone? Even an ounce?

What are your experiences with discussing your writing projects?

Thank you for reading.
Sometimes I get stuck and talking to other people about my stories helps me get ideas or resolve an issue. But I can definitely see how telling everyone about your story all the time can backfire. It's why I only talk about my story to a couple people and even then I keep a lot of my ideas to myself if I can help it.
