So, yes, you can read porn. Erotic novels, the stories they print in Penthouse and "lemons" [sex fanfiction, or at least that's what they used to be called.] are all pornography as much as pictures and videos.

If I ever had kids, I wouldn't let them read anything with devil worship in it, witchcraft or sex.
I think kids have any business reading garbage like that, those books are honestly all thats put out anymore though it takes alot of searching to find a good book these days.
But, isn't this sorta topic in the wrong forum? I think this belongs in the entertainment sub-forum marked: books.

I don't think many kids would understand or be interested in most of the things I would try to prevent them reading.
 
     
 
I am a teenager, and my parents let me buy whatever book I want. that is fine as long as I stay in the teensection, eventhough some of the books are very dark, have some fighting, death and also a bit of torture in them. No big deal. However, once I bought an adult book, which I really liked. It wa rather light-hearted and so I bought the second book. Parts of this were lighthearted as well, however, some chapers described some very, very cruel things going on in a part of the world, including not very graphic but incredible inhuman and cruel torture methods and treatment of people. If you are a parent, don't let your children read those books. Once you start reading, it's like looking at roadkill and hard to stop.

My advice is: As long as the age-rating is the age of your children or 2-3 years older, it's okay. It also depends how sensible your child is. But you should be careful with adultbooks, because if I'd been 2 or three years younger this book would have scarred me a lot.

On the other hand, let children get their own oppinion. If they want to read book about witchcraft, it's okay.
     
For the most part, I'd be fine with letting them read what they want, and hope that they'd be put off by more adult stuff by the complexity of its language and the lack of interest the themes hold for a child.
Some stuff I think would have to warn kids off if they suddenly wanted to read it - if a 10 year old decided they wanted to read Fight Club or A Clockwork Orange because they'd heard people going on about how cool the films were, I'd tell them they'd appreciate it more when they were older, for example, but with luck they'd be put off by the writing before they'd even got to the vicious bits.
There's less obvious ones, too. When The Wind Blows was filed in the kid's comics section and seemed fine for most of it, but it's a harrowing story about atomic warfare and it really disturbed me when I was little. Some things are deceptive. I don't think that things like that are necessarily unsuitable, but I would warn the child if I felt something could really upset them.
