Paulnat: that has been really fueling me to get it done lately. I want to get a book out there that I can be proud of.

That is super awesome. I will totally check them out and read them. I am honestly a terribly slow reader and in the middle of like four books but I will totally look at them. To me it's exciting to actually read something someone else has wrote that you can talk to them about it and just rattle their brain about thought processes and how they felt writing it.

but being an author isn't easy.
it may take some time before people acknowledge your books. xp

Actually write. Sit down and write about anything. Not stories you've made even, maybe just some inspired venting! Just write anything and everything!

When that doesn't work, READ! Reading what good authors have already written will help you increase your vernacular and give you ideas to write about.

Questionable Prophet

I don't know what inspires me, but it usually strikes when I don't have time to deal with it.

On the Tumblr I recently saw this cool idea for a prompt, which was to write a fanfiction of your current work if you're stuck on it, or if you're losing interest with it.

Too much stuff inspires me, but I often find myself writing the same types of stories with different characters. I just never understand that because I love survivals but I can't get passed the first chapter.

After a certain point I tend to really give up on my writing. It really is frustrating. I can really see myself writing novels but I just don't really understand why I loose interest in them. I am really trying to remain focus on this novel and try to get it finished.

DragonFang09 yeah I could write a story about my dogs for sure. Animals are a very inspiring sight. Thanks for letting me know what inspires you. Good luck at finishing stories! I'm pretty much in the same boat but am staying positive as I really want to get this story out there.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to read part of your story.

Pm me and I'll share a bit of it with you. biggrin

There's no one specific thing I do to find inspiration.
Actually it has a tendency to strike at the most in-opportune times.
Like when I'm on a long road trip, driving along in my car,
at a party, or while I'm trying to get to sleep.
I've learned to keep a notepad with me at all times to jot down my ideas,
and to keep a recorder handy,
just in case I'm driving or don't have the chance to write down my fleeting thoughts.

Though if I do feel myself stuck, and I suppose in a sort of writers block,
I pull out my notebook, or sit in front of my computer and just start to write anything that comes to mind.
It doesn't have to deal with my story, or even anything at all.
Just my thoughts about anything per say, just to get the creative juices flowing.
Sometimes this accomplishes nothing,
and sometimes something I can actually use comes out of it.
I honestly think the best cure for writers block is to literally stop thinking and just start typing.
Just let your fingers take over and type, but that's just me.
I've been told that if I just sit down in front of the computer or a journal for some time the ideas will pour from my head. This have been proven true many times, but sometimes I've found the best solution is to take a break from it. When I'm stuck in a sticky spot in my writing, I usually take a walk or do something inspiration-inducing. A gently humming bird floating down from the sky to settle on a branch above you can suddenly bring you to a whole new plethora of thoughts and ideas. Hope that helps a bit.

Ah, usually I try to create characters then go from there. Then I usually throw them into a story by fleshing out their world, thinking how other characters would react to that one and try to pull a plot from there or just keep it short. Inspiration for ideas usually stems from people watching for me. Just sitting in restaurants, libraries, malls, or anywhere public really. Besides that, ah, I usually pull inspiration from music too!
I am kind of the same where I just write random stories for practice. I try to do this a lot.
