Exactly. Who knows what will happen to the story from the first chapter to the last? It's always best to make the title come last, especially since it's not even the most important part of the story. The title's just an accessory.

Yah, it's just an accessory and doesn't really matter while you're still writing it but in publishing your story...then the title is a serious matter. It needs to catch people's attention.
Personally, I don't title my works. I find it stressful and unappealing work, and usually, I end up with a title that I'm okay with, but it only makes sense to me, the author.
I have a blog (not on gaia) that my friends check. So I'll post a summary and hold a contest or something asking them to find the best title. Usually they have the reader's insight that might point to a title I have missed. Because really, you don't judge a book by it's cover, it's the title that first catches your eye. Your readers know what they are looking for in a title.

Congratulations on the first subject, by the way. I've seen your comments and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I always title my stories the first time I save them, which is usually a couple to ten pages in. That's always the title I stick with, never a keyword or anything random. I'm pretty good with titles, actually. I just sit there and think about the story until I come up with something. Never takes more than an hour, though.

I at least find a working title for my stories so I can actually call them something.
A lot of times, song titles/lyrics fit perfectly, so I use them.
Titles aren't that difficult for me, but that's mostly because I like to think of the plot before anything else. I have two: Misanthropia and Dual. The first took about 10 minutes and the second about 3. I don't kow how others react to them, but I'm happy with them.
I usually come up with a title for a story before I even begin to really write it. Of course, I think through a lot of a story before I begin writing it, so I already know pretty much what I'm going to put on the page.
I usually just call my stories Fic the First, Fic the Second, and so forth. When I'm done with them I give them a real title, but otherwise I don't bother. I prefer to put most of my creative energy into writing the actual story first. I do think a good title is important, it's just that it can wait. Why stress over the garnish when the main course still needs to be cooked?
For my longer works, I tend to do extensive planning before I start writing, so I generally know what I want to call it. However, most of the time, I really don't care. I've got this long, epic mystery webcomic that's just been labeled as "the detective story" for the longest time, and it's only recently that I've thought up a name for it. Not a very good one, either.
Titles are important - in short stories/oneshot fanfiction. Those are short enough for the title to capture the main themes and ideas in them. But if you're talking about novels/multichapters, then maybe not. Honestly, I look more at the cover page of books when trying to pick them.

I agree completely, I usually don't like to stress over titles anymore sometimes my stories sit titleless for a little while UNTIL I finish it. I used to stress over titles all the time and I'd lose interest.

It used to seem when I started out writing, stressing out over titles was a death trap for my stories. So, I'm with Zechs I don't think anyone unless the title comes up early, should worry with titles.

I write poetry so I have to have like, three titles a day. It's difficult but you get used to it; the title, in my opinion, is as much part of the art as the poem itself.
the only reason I title my work before I'm done, is that I wright multiple stories at once, and need to be able to tell the difference between them

(actually, I dont even do that anymore, I just wright them in different colored notebooks...)
Titles and you.: ******** titles. I have only titled one of my many stories
How you feel about titles: before, during, and after writing. After writing-unless something brilliant comes to mind that would fit as a title whilst you are in the middle of writing.- Coming up with a title before hand? No. I wouldn't. Stories change as you write them-so the title may not fit in the end.
Why my first topic on gaia ever is a stupid one. It's not a stupid topic.
I get most of my best short story ideas from a title idea, not an actual idea.

So I disagree a bit.
