Does 'retgerkind' sound like the name of an evil race of peoples, or a good race of peoples?

And no metaphysical discussions about how I can't brand an entire race of people good or evil. >.> I just wanna know what kind of impressions the word conjures up in your wonderful minds. Thank you. ^_^

Sounds more along the lines of evil to me. It's the way it sounds faintly Germanic - wonderful language, German, but not especially romantic or mellifluous, and contains negative associations for some people.

Myself, I'm having a mild problem deciding on which combination of names sounds better - Spencer Ackroyd or Spencer Maddocks. Really can't make my mind up.

Thank you. ^_^ I thought it sounded more evil too.. which is a shame 'cause I originally wanted it for a gentle race. Oh well. XD

And personally I prefer Ackroyd to Maddocks, 'cause there's some krazy girl in my Literature class with that surname.

"This calls for a special blend of psychology and extreme violence."
Unusually dangerous, I trust you'll agree.

You'll laugh so hard you'll lose vital spinal fluid:

Well, just because something sounds nasty doesn't mean it has to be... playing around with expectations can be fun.

Should I give a music box ballerina a name for the convenience of the readers and me, even though it wouldn't make sense for her to have one? I was thinking about naming her Coppelia if I did name her... would that be too obnoxious? (ya know, like the ballet Coppelia)

This is for a very short story; less than 1000 words.

sounds like paradise to me.

Trust and love aren't rights. They are privileges.

I always use Charlie Higsons advice and use a road map of the south of England to get names

Well, I'm writing a story - completely fantasy. It takes place in a trippy world full of colors and whatnot, but what would a fantasy world be without magical, fantastical creatures?

I need help creating names for these creatures, they can be completely made up, or they can be... well i don't know if you could use existing names...

Anyway, here are the descriptions. There are three I need names for so far, but there will be much more to come, since I'm constantly adding things to the basic storyline.

1) Finally, Isaac saw the first of the hoard. Mounted on two large boar-like beasts, red-clad soldiers with shiny steel helms passed their small hideaway. The boars stood as tall as two men, and were twice as long. Their faces were plated in armor, all except for evil-looking tusks. The large ivory daggers curled up into a smooth, sharp point, devastating to any soft body willing to go up against them. The two beasts had dark wiry coats, matted with blood and old scar tissue. Surprisingly, Isaac didn’t feel one ounce of fear. He crouched much more comfortably, adrenaline easing his pain. He felt more alert, focused. At least four soldiers rode on each of the giant boars, followed by another four soldiers wielding whips behind the monsters. A sudden whip-crack pervaded the air, followed by a roaring howl of pain. (excerpt)

2) A large mammal reminiscent of a hedgehog or a mole, sandy in color. Protected by thick skin and spikes along its back in long rows. Small blue eyes, large digging claws. The underbelly is a bright scarlet, scaled, and exudes a warmth for caring for young. Our heroes must steal a scale from this underbelly, but the animal is quite elusive, hiding in the sand, eating mostly large scorpions. (haven't written this far yet - not completely developed, as you can tell)

3) A small, flightless bird, fast runner. Colors like a peacock, like that royal blue-ish green, only it is broken up by gold stripes down the length of its body. Shaped like a miniature emu, or a cassowary perhaps. It carries its little jewel-like eggs in a little pouch like a kangaroo. Our heroes need to steal a feather from the crest on the top of its head, a large mohawk of fiery orange feathers. (ditto)

Agh really long sorry XD

I have a character in my story that I am writing, and I can't name her. Here is a description I wrote of her:
"It was amazing how simple she was, and yet, at the same time, how beautiful. She was only about five feet tall, but she had a presence, a glow almost, that made her seem taller, and very confident. She seemed to be albino, but it only made her all the more beautiful. Her hair was a light silvery blonde, and reached past her knees, and her eyes were a piercing ice blue.
She was wearing a simple ivory dress of some material that flowed and draped around her perfectly. Her feet were bare."
She is a 2,000 year old vampire, and has a lot of special powers. She can create illusions, and make you think you're seeing things you are not. She can also read your mind and see the future. She is almost ghostlike, and everything about her is pale.

So I have three names I can't decide on.
-Gwenyvere, meaning 'white woman' or 'fair'
-Aislynn, meaning 'dreams' or 'visions'
-Vittoria, an Italian version of 'Victoria', meaning victory

I like the first two better. Sound and meaning are important. Please give me your opinions! smile

Concerned with ice and snow,
Dead weeds and unmated birds,
And little of love could know."

I need the names of small village towns in Scotland to use as my character's starting point! Unfortunately, I have no idea where to look. Please assist?

Can you guess what movie this clip is from?

What I don't understand the fuss over naming a character "Horny" aka "Shikima". Writing a fictional story is hard if you can't write fictionally. I mean, in Japan Ichigo is strawberry so they see Strawberry as the main character of Bleach right?

Zuri = beautiful or handsome in Swahili
Mwezi = dream in Swahili

Is it because most Eurocentric names are separated from the vocabulary that we see things like that and thus judge by such?
