I've posed this question before, but I didn't get much. I'm writing an elemental story, but the names of my all-female crew are kind of obvious. Here they are currently:
Sky~Air (Probably the most obvious.)
Ayla~Earth
Azzura~Water
Pyralis~Fire (I reaaaally don't want to change this one, but I will if I must.)
Ebony~Dark
Any suggestions? Please and thank you!
EDIT: First on page 99, that's kinda cool, right? ^.^

Sky is a bit tooo obvious. I'm at a mind-blank right now for good names, so I can't give you any suggestions for replacements.
I like the others, except Ebony. Again, a bit too obvious. Try something maybe in Latin or some other unusual language.

Ayla is nice, sounds more fluid to me than Azzura (for water), but I understand the Az_ur_ (like azure, right)?

Actually, there is a light, she's just not in the book, only in my mind. Maybe later. I don't know what her story is though, so I'd have tofigure that out.
Her name is Ivory, as a sort of counter-part type thing for Ebony.

Hmm, the Devil May Cry franchise might have a thing or two to say about that (Dante's guns are called Ebony and Ivory in a light/dark sense), but that might be over analyzing things.

Well, it isn't exactly a difficult thing to come up with, though the idea could use a bit of tweaking, I agree. The basic idea (which, btw, I copywrite^^) for the story is that the two girls have live in two opposing countries their entire lives, not knowing the other exists. Then, by some freak chance (because there's always a freak chance^^)they meet, and there's some sort of recognition of their powers (an explosion of light and dark or something like that) and they accidentally cause a huge problem that they need to fix before some deadline. So basically, they need to figure out why they have these powers, learn to control them, and stop the evil thing, all before the next gibbous moon or something like that.(because the full- new- and half-moon get too much publicity)
What do ya think? Also, I'm considering giving them different names that start with the same letters as Ivory and Ebony. Any thoughts?

Well, 'Br'er' means 'brother and the story was metaphor for black people using their wits to escape whit capture. How about 'Brother Jack' like a Jack Rabbit?

Roshiel doesn't do much for me, but I'm pretty picky about my names.^^
I like Annie, it sounds more modern than just Anna or Anne.

@Panumbra~ I like the name Ira, but that's about it from the list. It's not that I don't like the names, I'm just going for more of Middle Ages England common names. Thanks though!

@Someone (can't see who because the box with recent posts doesn't go that far back^^) suggested the name Kachina for the dark girl, but also put it under Spirit instead of dark. I like that idea (and the name too^^). Might use it. Thanks!
