I've posed this question before, but I didn't get much. I'm writing an elemental story, but the names of my all-female crew are kind of obvious. Here they are currently:
Sky~Air (Probably the most obvious.)
Ayla~Earth
Azzura~Water
Pyralis~Fire (I reaaaally don't want to change this one, but I will if I must.)
Ebony~Dark
Any suggestions? Please and thank you!

ANEMONE (Άνεμονη): Greek name derived from the word anemos, meaning "wind." In mythology, this is the name of a nymph who was turned into a wind-flower.

CHARNA: Yiddish name derived from the Slavic word for "dark."

The names themselves are pretty good, though very obvious.

I like Charna, though I'm not so sure about Anemone. It seems too much like the little squiggly things in the ocean^^.

@ I_Write_Ivre ~ well, I'm using fire as an element, so deal with it. (Pyralis shall burn your house as you sleep.^^ No promises that everyone will get out alive.) And as for dark: well, I needed something else, and all Humans fear the Dark. (You can just hear the need for capitals in that sentence, don't you think?^^)

I've invented a character that is a crow who controls a robot with mind powers. He lives on a not-planet-earth somewhere out there, and his name is crazy. It's based off of the idea that crow and raven calls are actually beautiful when slowed down and listened to.

So, in order to pronounce his name (which usually sounds like a normal crow's caw) properly, one must slow it down into a long-sounding eleven-syllable word:

Jeskavarltavorependartestorista. It's easier and more fun to say than it looks by far, but the name is admittedly visually intimidating.

The basic pronunciation is like this.

JESS-kah-VARL-tah-VORE *break* PEN-dar-TESS-tor-EEST-ah.

I usually refer to him as Jeskavarltavore in converstation, which is roughly half the length, although he considers it to be rude. He's usually placated by a "Mr." prefix to the shortening, though.

I'm not changing it, but... is this pretentious to assume people will put up with it or be amused by it?

I'm writing a story about human nature and relationships between people how they can turn very dangerous. Originally I was going to call it 'Sin There, Done That,' but since the repetition theme doesn't work anymore, I'm thinking of 'Friend or Faux'

I'm also still wondering about 'Roshiel.'
