I've thought of a few good names, but nothing has struck gold in my mind for my story =/

It's about a girl who gets a second chance, and goes back in time to re-do some things she did wrong the first time.

Any help? D:

EDIT: nvm I got something XD

I have a naming theme (liquor!), but I am having difficulty coming up with enough masculine sounding names for a fantasy setting. Most of the masculine names are just... names. Captain Morgan, Sam Adams, etc. And I have a lot more male characters than female ones. No shortage of feminine sounding names (I browsed Wiki's wine page for about three minutes), but I am wondering if any of you can think of one or two more liquors, or anything of the alcoholic sort, that sounds like a fantastic male name.

Also, do you think these names sound more masculine or feminine?
Merlot, Amaretto, Absinthe.

The number of Italian and French names I now have hoisted upon these characters is truly profound. Particularly because their culture is absolutely nothing like that of any French or Italian speaking place I can name, aside from perhaps in minor aspects of entertainment and cuisine.

I'm trying to come up with an original name for my Underworld type place. Ghosts, shades, and other creatures of the like live here, and I've been having difficulty naming it. Any suggestions?

Merlot sounds like it could go either way--more like a last name than a first name. (It sounds like a name you'd have to a stereotypical film-noir detective, though, so I guess it's a bit more manly.) Amaretto is definitely masculine, Absinthe is slightly feminine.

Gin is a male name in Japanese (or possibly unisex) so you can use that one for a guy, I guess.

Which culture version of Maya are you using?

My problem: Any name that sounds like 'Pyre?'

Miller, Yengling, Coors, Beck, and Johnny Walker seem like they'd make decent character names, albeit most of them would have to be last names. MAYBE Smirnoff would work too, but personally I think it might be too cliche.

Hope that helps.

I'm just not very picky with naming my characters.
Ahah.

At your first one: I would go with Nathaniel/it's Feminine variant if you're going for a fire motif (Nathaniel being the Angel of Fire). Blatantly meaningful names only really work well in the last name, otherwise it feels contrived and far too convenient.

Which leads me to your second query: No. It's a horrible name for a girl in general. Why on earth would a parent name their daughter that? Frost is a surname - and comes off very contrived in that it is just TOO obvious. Even if it's an ironic name, just no.

Problem I see here is that you're trying to take an Asian style pun - that a character's signature X happens to share a kanji/symbol/whatever with a character in the character's given name - and make it work in English.

It doesn't. At all.
