OMG, I really need help getting an effective title for one of my short stories. Here's the basic outline:

It's just about the 17/18th century in England. A small girl needs to get food for her dad. She goes to drastic measures and takes a blunderbuss to try and rob a store for food, etc. She gets nervous when a smaller boy starts to cry. She feels bad and tries to comfort him, but ends up breaking down and telling her story about how her father's sick and dying and she has no other family. She's caught. Brought away. She cries to her father and apologizes for 'failing'. People from the store go to her small hut and brings food and medicine, etc. She laughs and smiles. The end.

It's supposed to be Christmas Eve, so it's snowing. The girl's name is Emilie Rae Valentine and her family's really poor.

So, help? And sorry about the bad grammar/explanation. I'm not usually bad at it. xP

Blunderbuss...reminds me of Fable II.
Titles:
"Gift of Giving"
"Spirit of Christmas"
"The Price of Love"
"Breaking Through to Love"
And that's all that I have right now.

Help me get an angelic scarf?

i'm writing a fantasy for kids ages maybe 10 and up... i need a title idea!
story:
there are four girls (elementals~they all have names) who need to go and save the last girl from this evil guy (names for him?). They go traveling for a while and end up facing their greatest fears in order to save the last one. any ideas for titles or names for the evil guy?
btw, in case anyone wants to know, the girls names are~
Sky
Pyralis
Ayla
Azzura
Ebony
if you wanna guess what elements they each are, go ahead. thing is, if you know the background of each name, it's really easy...

Wondering if this is an appropriate name for an Elf in a quasi steampunk setting:

Satharia Amadra Lin'Caery Libonel Yggdrasil. Of course, you can call her Sally.

I'm sorry, but those names are too fitting for the girls. Honestly, what is the likelihood that there parents would name them such that they are all too conveniently matched for their elements.

I would recommend going through some historical texts and myths to get names (for example, Athena would work appropriately for your water elemental, as Athens was known for its naval power, etc.)

As for the Villain. What's he like? Is he trying to gather all the elementals together for something? If he is, something like "Nicholas" or "Thomas" would be appropriate names, as both were names of famous alchemists who used the Four Element theory in their works.

no, the character's names are staying (at least until i want to change them), and besides, they don't have parents...and i feel Athena would be better for the Earth girl....the evil guy has a first name (richard), just not a last...and i know about the alchemists and everything, but i dont feel that'll work...but thanks for the thought... biggrin

I need help with a character name.

I need a name for a charac ter without it being so obvious that he's talented in music. My problem is that I keep wanting to name him Mozart. I need something a lot less cliche. Right now the last name doesn't matter much, but if t helps anyone I'm just going to go with something common but not cliche, something like Dillard or Carver.

Hey, name thread peoples.

I've got a couple of questions on names I've come up with for my characters.

Would it be appropriate for a second-generation Scandinavian couple who is very proud of their heritage to give their children typical American first names, but middle names that would be appropriate in their culture? What would have caused them to choose the particular American names that they picked?

Also, does anyone have any clue whether the surname Abel could appropriately be traced back to the Nordic Sami people?

And finally, how common is it for a child to take on the last name of her adoptive parents? If she were to be abandoned at an orphanage as a baby and not adopted until her teenage years, where would she have gotten her name?

Abel is a name of Hebrew origin, and a biblical name, (ie. Cain and Abel, the race of Cain, etc.)
Abel was killed by his brother Cain because Cain was jealous of God's love for Abel. The Sami people usually have tribal surnames, no?
