I really suck at spelling and grammer so can someone check this for me?

The Battle of Marathon happened in 490 BCE (Sivers 204). The Persians set sail 600 ships to conquer Athens (Decisive Battles: Marathon). The wealth of the Greek city-states had made them a target of Persian imperialism (Silvers 204). Darius, the Persian king, had a plan to conquer Athens, and then conquer Greece entirely (Decisive Battles: Marathon). Storms and long supply lines compromised the military efficiency of the Persians (Silvers 204). The Greeks surprised the Persians by changing the tactics they were known to use (Lecture). The Greeks won the battle, loosing only 192 men, while the Persians lost 6,500 men (Decisive Battles: Marathon). The battle remains relevant today due to Phidippides’ run, to spread the news of victory, becoming the inspiration for today’s marathon (Decisive Battles: Marathon).
