Questionable Streaker

Progress: Over the last couple of days, I've done a few rp posts and a couple of hundred of words.

The Mysterious Gunslinger
LoperDoper
...

Unrequited love is what I got out of that. I hope I'm right.

In any sort, that's pretty interesting. I don't know what that reminds me of, I'm trying to find a word on how to describe it, but I can't... hm.
Yeah, I was hoping that unrequited love is what would be seen in the story.

I managed to finish a short story for a contest due the day of (2278 words) that I'm fairly proud of. I've settled on names for my lions in my other story (Jengo, meaning 'red complexion' which is a play on the rogue/rouge typo and Mwenye) though admittedly it hasn't progressed much. My outline is still finished but I haven't worked on it; I spent some time finding pictures of the lions, village and general area though so I have a clearer image to work with.

I'm really hoping I get to work on this lion story soon! I'd thought watching Disney's African Cats would re-inspire me but it just made me feel like parts of my story were a rip-off (which is sort of unfair, given I wrote my outline before I saw it). I'm not sure if that's what's preventing me, or the fear of how long this story is going to be and potentially committing a lot of time to something that will turn out horrible.

Which is silly, given I've committed more time than it would have taken to write it just worrying and putting off, but such is the life of a procrastinator I guess!

Huzzah! I have finally hit 10 pages and therefore find myself worthy enough to post in this thread! emotion_awesome So hi. : D

I'm not exactly happy with what I wrote from the bottom of the 9th page to get me to the 10th... But.. gonk I have problems writing dialogue and how people react to one another.

Those 10 pages have also got me to... 21 words less than 6,000 words! gonk So... close...

Congrats! Welcome to the thread!

Haha, no need to worry over that now. Usually it's easier to just get it out, then go back over it. Plus, some things may seem off while you write, but when you go back over it seem fine. 3nodding

Welcome again, and congratulations on hitting the tenth page! <3

Progress: I'm chuggin' along, writing that scene that I never put in the Celestial Legend about when my two main characters first met each other! I have a thing for long-lasting friendships in my works. Something about it is just so awesome. biggrin I wrote about 1000 words of the scene yesterday and another 780 words today. 750words.com has been my savior. It has given me a pen-sword to vanquish the dragon of writers' block. You should try it, guys.

heart Yeah, the point is to write it down when you're inspired. And even when you aren't--you have to learn to work even when you don't want to in general.

I want to watch Disney's African Cats too, was it any good? I hope they make one about tigers... there's hardly any video media on tigers, and I love them so much! And goodness knows tigers need the attention D:

Also I command you to continue writing your lion-themed story even if it seems similar to that; I started writing this current idea years ago only to find out that the exiled brother and sister gimmick was akin to the plot device in A Game of Thrones (book one of A Song of Ice and Fire). I only know of this now from watching the show on HBO, and I was like... gonk Noooo...

But are the names in Kiswahili? I've tried learning that, but the book I bought ended up being a teacher's guide... sweatdrop I was able to learn a lot from it! But then, I had nowhere to practice it, and the learning got harder as it continued to expect me to know the answers...

@Kage: Whoop! Congrats.

@Ceru:
Musical instrument as weapons sounds amazing.
The whole thing sounds like it's going well, and you're not fudgeing the facts too much either. ^^

@Rotsab:
Procrastinating is good for the soul.
Jengo is an awesome name pick! Congrats on getting that settled. I haven't seen any of the Disney Big Cat stuff, good luck with it. It's probably not going to have half as horrible as you think it could be. Better start writing.

emotion_awesome Sweetsauce!
10 pages is a great feat and no worries about dialog, you'll get it during the edit. ^^

Welcome to the thread. What's your story about?

@Misuki:
That sounds like a perfect idea. I always have a good gunk of time in the morning that I basically use to day dream about sleep.
Sweet job wit the 1,750 words! And in only two days, you're on a roll.
I think I'm going to post some links to these write sites in the OP.
Long lasting friendships are amazing.

My Progress:
Edited chapters 13-15, 1, and 8.
I have been useless! My days off have been scattered and I'm having a serious case of the fear-factor User Image

I'm going to organise my shifts for the next couple of weeks so I have 7 days off in a row though so I can hammer it (I will finish the draft by the end of Feb!). I am going to need people to harrass me though and demand updates - I will post my days off when I know them.

Just threw up.....oh ********, chapter 17? of my Warhammer 40k fic. Currently deciding how much I want the protagonist to curbstomp some demons. And by curbstomp I mean go full on God Of War on them with their own weapons.

Which, considering everything that's happened so far would be pretty much in line with everything else.
@Desi:
It was taking the characters from Naruto and making them porn stars. lol. We both write in that fandom, although slightly different stuff. He's the same one who conned me into writing a lemon lol. I don't even know why I get half the ideas I do, or write half the things I write, but at least I can say that it was his perverted idea, not mine.

I hate coming up with story titles. I'm seriously considering saving it to my computer as asdfghjkl if I haven't already used that name XD

Went shopping. I hate shopping with my mom. She hates what I wear, and I refuse to wear what she wants me to wear. I did get a couple pairs of skinny jeans though. One of thems bright blue.

I'm thinking of a pen name for myself.

Progress: Not much. I've been drawing instead. I'm drawing one of the characters from the Bridge...let's see if it turns out how I want it to. I like drawing faces.

Been reading Stephen King's On Writing. Figured I may as well, since I don't really have anything else to read, and everyone keeps referencing it. Instead of the adverbs pave way to hell quote, I'm think I'll remember this one: "As the whore said to the bashful sailor, 'it ain't how much you've got, it's how you use it.'"

Yeah, really.

It was! Or at least, I thought it was. Some people were put off by it, but narration aside just the imagery was mind-blowing.

Tigers, eh? Haha, I assume you've seen Two Brothers, then? Tigers are beautiful too, I wouldn't mind seeing a new movie on them as well.

Ahaha, fair enough! Though augh, isn't that always the way? It's so frustrating. I was working on a novel-length adaptation of Hansel and Grethel only to find out there's like two movies coming out for it and even a television show! The irony is that I chose Hansel and Grethel over Red Ridinghood because I assumed it was the latter that would receive such attention.

I... don't know. redface I actually used an African baby-naming website and just chose two East African names. Mwenye is swahili, but I'm not certain what Jengo is aside from East African. That's cool that you tried to self-teach, though! I've heard that's one of the most difficult ways to learn a language, because you don't actually get to hear it in use and practice it with someone who can comment on your dialect. I can see where a teacher's book for it could be hard, though. xD

It really is. xD
Thanks! Haa, I certainly hope so. It seems cheesier the more I write it, but I'm just going to try and get it done and then worry about those sorts of things.
My goal today is to at least get the first two segments completed!

Yeah, not to mention that particular fairytale is one of the last few ones left for Disney to milk. XD It was always bound to happen.

But fair enough, where in Africa is this meant to be set? I could maybe give you some ideas on naming and help you find random words to throw in to sound more authentic. It's preferable that all the names should be from one dialect, at least in my opinion. Fun fact, most of the names in Disney's The Lion King were Kiswahili (Simba, Rafiki, Mufasa, etc.), and Kiswahili is spoken in the eastern of Africa. But the part in "Circle of Life" that everyone remembers, "Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba" (I actually knew that by heart, lol), is in Zulu, a language based largely off of the Xhosa dialect (one of the "click-click" languages), and spoken only in a small part of South Africa.

And yes I've seen Two Brothers... I've been thinking of buying it off one of the streaming sites to keep on my xbox or something. I miss it so D;

It's difficult to say at this point; I had a more direct plot for it years ago when I first came up with it, but the setting has been so largely revised at this point that half of it no longer applies. Granted, it's mostly the bad half that I got rid of in this revision. XD

But it starts with the grandchildren of a long ago dead and deposed king, now held hostage in exile with other traitors to the crown--but they have been told nothing of their true heritage, not even by their parents. As their mother lay dying giving birth to her last and youngest son, she confesses to her son Simon (the eldest legitimate son) the truth. Simon escapes, enraged, determined to regain the throne. His siblings, however, are brought to the kingdom to be supervised, the daughters to be married off to influential loyal houses, the sons kept from escaping and incurring rebellion.

That's basically all I have for how the story will go at this point. From there, it mostly becomes about building character. I plan on it being a two-part series, if possible, but hey, I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself. XD

******** net had to go out when I was going to post yesterday. scream Anyways... *coughs*

@Desi: Yes it sucks no matter what lands on Valentines day. Gladly I don't have a boyfriend since more than likely I'd be the silly romantic who'd ditch homework for a guy. Being single isn't too terrible.

My progress: I did nothing with my originals. Honestly wondering how a medieval king with the power of a dark beast would react to his newest knight being a woman. Well, I say medieval by his clothing and perhaps his mannerisms; however, given this is taken place in a different dimension parallel to modern Earth. Yea... I wonder how over the top my tyrant-like king would react since he runs a woman-less kingdom. <-<;

Fan fiction wise... I'm stuck on that bloody six chapter in my Kuroshitsuji fan fiction. gonk I need to figure a more fitting way for my OC to get her love interest back other than "lame" banter. ;w; The other fan fiction (KHR) I finished the first fighting scene! Now I have a down period before the fighting starts all over. Long fight scenes are tedious, but I do it to be precise in what they are doing. Hopefully I'll do some writing tonight before preparing for an Art test tomorrow. >w<

Gonna start on chapter 18 for my WH40k fic tonight.

Need to find appropriate writin' music though. Got Coat of Arms by Sabaton reserved for some later chapters.

Then need to do *Shudder* research for a Twilight/World of Darkness fic. Blood Hunt on the Cullens.
